The first year would be the foliage, and the second year would be the bloom. I started growing my seeds July last year, got them in the ground around August and they bloomed the following year. I did start my seeds earlier this year so I'll expect blooms next year. I'll let you know next year if there's any difference in time of planting.
Add a pond net cuz there are predators who can empty your pond out in a day. You can leave your fish (if they're small fish) in 2' of water in the winter if you put in a heater to keep a hole open and maybe also have a small pump to circulate a little bit of water. Most likely the top will freeze, like my pond, but it will only freeze about 4"-6" at the most on a bad winter, unless you are really far north. Just need a hole for the gases to escape. If ice builds up, do NOT strike the ice as the shock will hurt the fish. I live in MA and my fish never come in. Also add some water hyacinths in the upper tub as a bio filter. Can put them in with the rest of the fish, but they like to eat them. Good luck! That's how I started out... Now after 2 pond upgrades, my pond is about 18'x24', 3' deep with an Aquascape wetlands bio filter.
So you don't do 1 seed per pot but several? I have about 100 seeds... Trying to get as many as possible... Any suggestions? Also what kind of weather do they do best in? When is the best time to sow? Thanks so much in advance 😊
You can do as many as you would like! I just take a pinch of seeds, sprinkle them on top and then use a misting bottle to keep them moist at all times until they start to germinate. Just don't let your potting mix dry out. I use sink water unless I know it's going to rain! You can start them in spring and summer if you live in zones under 10. Unless they won't come back, they will be considered an annual
Horrible review. Get your thoughts together prior to filming next time. Do a practice video, then another one that you'll upload. You didn't even show people how to put the thing together. It doesn't come out of the box ready to use.
Hello from AZ 👋 im new to your channel i found this video super simple and liked how you explained the threats to the flowers 💐 thanks alot ill be tuning in! Best to and your garden !
I bought the Expert 2 gallon spray bottle near the end of last summer. I used it once. This spring I pulled it out again to spray weeds. The weed killer started spraying out in every direction through a dozen little holes in the handle. Biggest waste of money I ever made in the garden department. Total piece of crap. Right now Walmart's website says it's "Out of Stock". I think that really means they were flooded with returns by angry customers. So now I'm wondering what new brand name they're selling this same old junk under?
These look good in the container. I have in a larger container just planted couple of weeks from seeds and I see couple of baby plants popping up. What fertilizer you use for these lupines? Thanks for the video and the info
Do you have any tips for the second year of hollhocks. I planted hollhocks last year and they were due to bloom this year. But as soon as it started growing foliage the leaves started dying.
I had something eating my strawberries, so I set a lawn chair and preps to hunt. Turns out it was my own dog this whole time. I didn't know dogs eat strawberries, but they do. Don't count on your dog to guard your strawberries hahaha
Oh no I'm sorry to hear that! Dogs are the best until they start eating your favorite things lol I had two arborvities and they started turning yellow, turns out my dog was peeing on them so they ended up dying
I like your germination setup! That would probably work well starting strawberry seeds also. I have been working on a strawberry breeding project and one of the most time consuming parts is getting a strawberry plant from seed to fruit. So far my best turn around is two years from seed to see which plants will be keepers for propagation.
So far I haven't had the best luck with strawberry seeds. I looked it up and said try to winter sew and I did that 2 years in a row and had no luck so I keep wasting seeds. This year I'm going to try to do it in the early Spring
Always do what works best for you. I watch videos from different channels and I take that and do it my way and see what works best for me. I started growing some stuff last year and I plan on growing a lot more this year.
yeah it is easy to make a sifter. Some 1/4in hardware cloth stapled to some boards. I have also used an old fryer basket that I had but it disappeared ..
