At what point can the babies be readied for release or does the imprinting preclude such. In your case, do you plan to release? If not, how would you manage things differently so this baby can be safely release with the high probability of success possible?
now you did it... I have to wipe away some wet stuff from my eyes. EDIT: we do not have possums as "vermin" where I live. I can only relate to what I know from stuff online.
I'm raising my second baby possum right now. The first one was a female who we had to put her mother down in our yard. We raised her until she was big enough to fend for herself. I taught her to forward as well as I could seeing as how I'm kind of a forager myself. This one we have now is also a female. What I worry about is if the time comes for her to go and she refuses. She was welcomed into my home she will not be kicked out against her will. Incomes the legalities. I live in Texas. I looked at the laws the best I can but I'm not very good at this sort of thing. I come from the world with very little technology. Can anybody give me any pointers?
So cute!! I used to feed families of them every night with huge dog bowls of food and water. They'd take their turn after the racoon families were done. Occasionally babies would end up inside, I even found one in my closet sitting in my clothes😅 ( we'd leave the door open a crack for our cat) After 3 days in a row I got the little guy to an oppossum rescue. They were always friendly, they never hiss unless it's justified, and are wonderful for your yard. Sadly so much construction around my area over the years and they both have gone and I miss them. Thank you to all who are kind to these docile sweet babies 😊
You are a beautiful human being! Thank you for saving this little baby. I hope their doing well. Not sure how long they live but hopefully it's nice and healthy🙂👍
Thank you for sharing your 'safer than a knife, possum or hammer' method! 🎉 I opened a persimmon seed with pliers to find a... spoon! Guess I'd better dust off the old snow shovel. RIP Miss Posey, always loved, never forgotten ❤
Que adorables y geniales son estos animalitos cuando se les trata con cariño y amor. Felicitaciones y bendiciones a los que aman a estas adorables mascotas sacándolas del medio inhóspito en que viven !!!
Can you show us one that’s the size to let go? I found one but not sure if I should take it to TWRC or not. It comes out at 6:30am and eats the other possums throw up from eating almonds peanuts and apples. 😢
