Celebrating 40 years! Mural Arts Philadelphia is the nation’s largest public art program, dedicated to the belief that art ignites change.
Mural Arts has united artists and communities through a collaborative process, rooted in the traditions of mural-making, to create art that transforms public spaces and individual lives. Mural Arts engages communities in 50-100 public art projects each year, and maintains its growing collection through a restoration initiative. Our core program areas-Art Education, Community Murals, Environmental Justice, Porch Light, and Restorative Justice-yield unique, project-based learning opportunities for thousands of youth and adults.
Each year, 15,000 residents and visitors tour Mural Arts’ outdoor art gallery, which has become part of the city’s civic landscape and a source of pride and inspiration, earning Philadelphia international recognition as the “Mural Capital of the World.”
As a former graffiti artist I was active during the Cornbread era. I can say murals are cool, but advertising disguised as murals are anything but. These are the things that graffiti artists go out of their way to hit. A few years ago I remember the most egregious example was an advertisement for a condo development near Center City stating that Philadelphia was the new Brooklyn! Talk about not going over well!
I like your voice and poise, Ellen. I’ve been imagining how to decorate a guitar with stained glass, tastefully, even up unto ostentatiousness. I’m sure glass may me sanded or heated-formed. Hmmm.
I love this project! Thank you for sharing with us that are outside of the Philadelphia area. Arts do something for the soul... Kudos to my Contemporary Planning Professor for sharing with us!
This panel was fire. I think the uncertainty of the lasting effects of black trauma will become more and more mainstream eventually. The stigma of talking about black trauma will fade, and WE as a people will prioritize our mental, physical, and spiritual health. This work and these conversations are so important and I'm glad to see it.
Anyone knows about crypto trading? Despite the economic hardship, i’m very happy to share y’all my testimony I invested $10,000 in crypto and I got $76,000 within couple days of trading. Everyone should know that investing is the key to success

Nice video. But it was almost tragic in that this replaced an earlier mural and in the first proposal the immortal Eddie Fisher, who was in that first one, was not to be in this one. Fortunately someone with common sense saw that such idiocy did not stand.
