Today made a 3 hour trip from Sacramento down to Fresno and got 23.4 mpg highway. 2019 Tundra SR5, 5.17 engine, no bed cover, 2wd. Just kept it about 65 mph not using cruise control. Tires are Les Schwab Back Country All Terrains 275 70r18s.

It all depends on how you drive, intake or not. I’ve had two tundras, a 2012 and 2018. I have made it as high as 20.5mpg with no modifications. If you take it easy on the accelerator your mileage increases. If you drive with the pedal to the floor and are doing 75, don’t expect good mileage. My average when I am not towing is about 18mpg.

Trd supercharged 37 inch tires.She probably gets 18.5 mpg towing my 4,000 lbs+ boat to the lake. But i have to use 91 octane. If it was 89 you could say itd be like 17 mpg money wise. I honestly dont know else how to test it cuz thats all i use her for. The supercharger added incredible torque and speed. I towed 10,000 pounds up over 11,000 ft like it wasnt there before i put the big tires on. Im not sure how it would be now though. Same 4.30 gearing

Yeah I think when you’re towing, the difference in mpg disappears and there’s no advantage to not having the tundra

Its because of the cover on BED. I did it to and got 23.2 on a trip to S,C, on a 2014 Tundra 5.7 engine. Don't trust the truck mpg. Use a Cal and get the correct mpg. But it is becarse of the Tonneu comerl. I changed to a topper and got 20. 5 or something like that. Did it twice . I now have a 2018 and get 19 by truck gage.

Ian Brasseur like I give a shit about a trade in. I run mid 13’s at over 100mph with simple bolt ons a mile above sea level, get better mileage weighs less, tow more, coil spring rear suspension rides and off roads better, and also better aftermarket. The ram is absolutely better at everything except resale but I’m not selling mine because I’m enjoying it too much. Enjoy your slow, thirsty, cheap interior and resale value in your tundra the worst rated truck in every test.

Shell gas is the reason for good milage on a Tundra. I made a trip to S. C. and got 23 mpg, I though it was all the time but once back to Fl , I got usually 20. Big difference in gas. I used Citgo in Fl . 87 oct on both gases.

I had the Tonnonue , spelling, cover on my 14 model and got 23.3 mpg on 87 oct. With the cap, looks like a SUV now but got 21 per gal. The flat cap was the best gas milage one. You must drive like I do a little. I would use the just cover but like a Cap instead. I am wondering what would happen with 89 oct? Think I am going to try it. I know 93 wont work , over kill..

You did not fill the tank all the way. The gasoline foams and shuts off the nozzle. You need to let the foam settle, then fill slowly until the nozzle clicks off. Gas station pumps are made for safety and to collect fumes. Not for accurate mileage tests.

@evergonzalez6350

Notice he has a tonno , spelling , on his truck. Big deal with that. He also uses Shell gas. I got 23.5 on a trip to S Carolina and 22.4 on the way back to Fl. Also the same setup as he has. It has to be the cover and the brand of gas he used as it was the same brand I used on the trip.
