I make game reviews of whatever I finish playing as a way to share the experience with others.
Originally started this channel as an excuse to work on my English pronunciation and vocabulary, as well as produce something out of my passion for, well, blabbing about video games. Brazilian channel, but content is 100% in English.
Feedback and comments are more than welcome. Thanks for stopping by!
I e always been a 5 fan. People say it’s just for the job class system, but they miss everything else. The characters are just so fun, and it’s in contrast to a plot where they are just always loosing, but growing with each other because of it. Honestly, I replayed 4 recently, and the love of it just seems like nostalgia compared to 5.
I think they're both still very good games. I just wanted to defend V's place in the era of FFs IV started since it gets dismissed as "not as story heavy" for some reason.
took long enough to have a brazilian character. snk was kinda huge in here during the 90s, we even had this 3, 2-store building dedicated to snk games (if my memory doesn't trick me, i saw it on the back of a local gaming magazine every now and then and yeah, of course it was in são paulo).
I don't think you've missed anything other than knowing a little bit on how T.O.P. gauge works. But yeah, it's a nice FG. I just have some qualms on how it doesn't let you do some nice combos and it seems kind of difficult to know your BnBs, but that's just because I have more experience with anime fighters. By the way, did you know there were proximity normals? Now you know!
Those of us who grew up during the heyday of NES/SNES-era Final Fantasy appreciated FFIV as one of the greatest RPGs of its time. RPG fans like me, who rented (we couldn't afford to buy) games like Paladin's Quest, The 7th Saga, Breath of Fire, Earthbound, and other games usually took it a step further when it came to Final Fantasy. After all, the first game introduced many of us to the genre. I'd played Hydlide and some other games, but Final Fantasy offered character immersion (we got to select and name our characters!) unlike anything we'd previously seen. Final Fantasy IV marked a vast improvement in graphics, storyline, character arcs, and more. We didn't get to select our characters' classes, but something as simple as giving them names made us feel closer to them. For me, it was always my school friends and (occasionally) pets who would undertake adventures. Of course, FFVI made FFIV look like a fairly simple game, much like IV had made the original. Unbeknownst to us, there were another FFII and FFIII, along with an FFV, which served as steppingstones to the two SNES games we got stateside. I haven't played FFV for a while and will start the Pixel Remaster version soon. After buying the Steam package, I'm at the end game of FFI and FFIV, about 1/4 of the way through FFVI, and have a couple of hours in FFII. I will say that the Boost feature on the PM versions is nice. I've been grinding away since 1990 across various versions of the games, so having the ability to level up and collect gil just a bit faster is welcome.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! NES is before my time but I played quite a few SNES RPGs myself. I'll be uploading my V Pixel Remaster impressions soon by the way.
this looks like the real effective way to expand this game's universe, not just putting out these shovelware side story games no one really cares about. makes me have a wishful thinking, while atlus comes out with a persona 1 & 2 remakes, square actually and finally works on a brand new final fantasy 6 adaptation. the concept art is stunning, as much as the pixel/sprite work was great back then, it would be absolutely amazing to finally see it fully 3d and immersible. final fantasy 6 absolutely deserves that...i just don't think it's that popular, though.
Lol “expand the games universe”. Literally fan fiction nonsense and the majority of fans agree and didn’t buy Rebirth because of how much of an insult it is to FF7. Rebirth was a commercial flop and it speaks volumes. 😂
DISCLAIMER: My opinion of Tears of the Kingdom has changed quite a bit since the posting of this review. If you want to know how much go check my Top 10 2023 video. I won't delete or remove this review but be aware I see this game in a way more positive light these days and it's actually the one I put on my Switch whenever I just want to chill and search for caves and koroks. Since this is still getting a lot of traffic compared to my other content I felt it was necessary to make that clear.
I think it is an overlooked gem. An easy 7/10 or even an 8/10. It improved so much on Secret of Mana but was more than a blatant copy. They improved the magic system, the party felt more versatile than in SoM (even if only 2 characters), no useless weapon pool, better running, and so on. I loved the great market in act 2 and most "mazes" weren't so bad. The vulcano is pretty much one straight line and the forest is easy to pass if you follow the goblins. But yeah, it had some broken mechanics due to too short development time (kinda like SoM).
only jon evermore could punch a velociraptor right to the face and make it explode. yeah, i'm one of those people in this case, i'd give this game something like a 6 out of 10, but i know i'm being generous. really wish they came up with a remake or reimagining of this title, but it could also turn out to be an amazing tv (netfllix) series. just make sure they keep the soundtrack though.
whoa, this episode really shines like so much love has been put into making it. i'd say musashi is the best zelda clone ever made, hell, this is even kinda insulting, lol musashi holds its own just fine, it has a lot going on for it, it's the definition of "hidden gem". it really baffles me why squaresoft never came up with at least a remastering or whatever. gotta say the sound department stands out a bit more because that soundtrack is unparalleled, love how it mixes relaxing with epic, western with japanese vibes. it's also the best (english) voice acting i've ever seen in a videogame. also should point out that the difficulty spikes quite a bit after the beginning, and the gameplay kinda aggravates that. ps.: should have made a special chapter about steamwood, that shit is an anxiety nightmare masterpiece.
You are from Brazil, where master sytem did well. I am from New Zealand, where master system also did very well. There are so many games that people say were only in Brazil that were actually released in Australia, and particularly New Zealand. Nobody had NES here, and i mean NOBODY!
I never really got all the buzz around Asterix. I suppose it's not from my time and all the mentions that I hear from it were from people being nostalgic about it. That said: every single game from this IP that I've seen seems to be total jank. Haven't really seen a game from them that really looks like something I would want to play at all lmao
I haven't seen the classic movies in years but I remember rewatching them as a teenager and the humor was still mostly there. Games though.... there is a GBA beat 'em up I remember not being terrible.
These devs seem like they can do some very attractive, yet simple games. I wonder what else they also have done, because this got that sweet chiptune soundtrack paired with quick action and it just makes me wonder.
3d metroid-style game...SO IT'S 3DMEGAMETROIDVANIA?? two things...this game really, really needed and updated remake or sequel, and it could be so damn cool (as long as please give us the option for japanese audio). second, that blasting sound when mega man gets hit is hilarious.
This will truly be a game to be remembered quietly for years to come. People keep yapping about other games, but 90% of the time it's just quiet. During all this time people are paying homage to The Quiet Man. When I'm sleeping, I'm represting The Quiet Man. The Quiet Man is most of my life and out of my top 10 games of all time, The Quiet Man is #0, as it represents the absensce of presence... The quietness.
Walking sim might be a reductive term, but I think it gets the point across well for people to understand what they're getting into. For example: Yume Nikki is pretty much the original example of a walking sim. You don't really do much of anything other than walk in that game. The term should set someone up to expect that they won't really have much in terms of proper gameplay when playing a game of this kind, but, yeah, people do use the term in a derogatory manner. Now, in regards to these kinds of "games" that don't really offer any challenges or different reactions to whatever you do in the game, I do have a bit of a complaint towards them. It won't be too interesting to go through a game that doesn't really do anything with the media itself besides just telling the story. I mean, I get _why_ people choose to make a game like this instead of an animated movie or a book. It manages to provide the visuals a book can't have without really needing to dedicate the amount of work and time into animating everything for it's whole duration like an animation would. It's something cheaper and easier to make that will tell the story the creators want with the visuals they want and without really needing to worry with time constraints, as people won't really bother with games going for hours on end, while they might get bored with movies that do that. I suppose we just kind of have to accept that it is part of the media now, and I suppose that's alright.
