Lost in transmission is a place where rarities, oddities and ephemera from UK TV broadcasts can be found, sourced from my collection of VHS off air tapes that I recorded from about 1989 onwards and which are being very slowly converting into MPEG format. Mostly entertainment and comedy shows but I've already found several current affairs pieces that seem pertinent in today's climate and more will follow. I hope you are suitably informed/educated/entertained.......
Having Pres. Kennedy's press secretary, Pierre Salinger, on this panel was a good move. Salinger knew J.F.K. personally and well and his knowledge and insights into Pres. Kennedy's political life are most interesting.
Aw, their precious saintly icon was insulted. So sad. Sorry, but she collected hordes of cash for the church, and that's the basis of her 'saint'hood. Nothing more. She relished in the suffering of her 'customers' in her facilities as they died. She legitimized the despicable people of the world a little if they cut her a check.
Mothet Teresa might have not done everything perfect, but that is the point. Hitchens and his flock will not accept anything but Perfection. If mother Teresa built each poor person a Mansion, Hitchens would still find something to critize....like you dont feed them lobster and stake but once a month. Or all this outrageous amount of money could be used to help so much more poor people. In the meantime Hitchens was doing very little to nothing himself to help the poor. The irony is great. Individuals like Hitchens will never be satisfied no matter how much others do for the poor. His view is If you are not going to give the poor a $100,000 lifestyle, just leave them in the street to die. Hitchens talks alot but says very little....and does/helps even less.
When compromised and complicit former police commissioner Sir Paul Condon tells you it’s a disgrace and an outrage to portray the police in this way you know you’ve pretty much nailed it.
here's 5 possible steps in your life: 1 rebellion 2 repentance 3 request for God's glory 4 revelation 5.reponse by worship.....Sadly Chris only reached stage 1.
Does anyone know the transmission date? I'm guessing 1991 from S4C "cinema" trail. I remember seeing it when they televised The Life of Brian and A Nightmare on Elm Street around that time.
'you've blown my cover, this is about the book I'm bringing out, isn't it?' 'I'm not supposed to be on televsion in the year before the publication of my book!' 'You've changed the colour of your hair, why's it not white anymore?!' 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
THE DELUSION OF ATHEISM-EVOLUTIONISM. In spite of all the robust ‘atheism’ rhetoric in the mainstream and social media, atheism simply still does not convince. Below see some good examples of how pro-evolutionist (atheist) narrators often contradict themselves in books and programmes on DSTV: “The lion is a magnificent CREATURE!” Suggesting a CREATOR. “The cheetah is DESIGNED for short bursts of speed, not for long-distance running!” Suggesting a DESIGNER. “The kangaroo’s hindlegs are an ENGINEERING marvel!” Suggesting an ENGINEER. “Nature rewards survivors with LONGEVITY!” Nonsensical tautology: ‘Survivors will live for a long time!’ “It’s all about the SURVIVAL of the FITTEST!” Nonsensical tautology or reasoning in circles: “Why did the Panda survive?” > “It is the fittest!” > “Why is it the fittest?” > “Because it survived!” (They call this ‘science’?). “I BELIEVE in Evolution!” Disingenuous religious terminology and not science jargon, showing up atheism-evolutionism as a belief-system and not an exact science. “The COSMOS is a place of spectacular, breathtaking beauty!” Disingenuous use of the word ‘Cosmos’; atheists deny ‘intelligent design’ and are supposed to refer to the Universe as the ‘Chaos’, not the ‘Cosmos’ (‘Order’). “There is no such thing as GOOD & EVIL!” Then they go ahead and say, “Religion is evil!” and object against Christians bringing prayer and the Bible into schools as ‘unfair’ (?). “There is no such thing as ABSOLUTE TRUTH!” Then we cannot accept anything they have to say about atheism or God because they may not be telling the ‘absolute truth’ themselves. “There is no GOD!” Scientists only know about 5% of what is going on in the Cosmos; the rest of the Cosmos consists of 95% ‘dark matter + dark energy undetected by astronomical and scientific instruments’. God may be obscured from their view and observations in the 95% they still do not about the Cosmos.
When the overnight service was launched on ITV in 1988, Phil Roman and Richard Bath were the two most frequent newsreaders on the ITN bulletins until around 1994 when the morning news was rebranded (my understanding was that they originally offered it to Carol Barnes, but she declined because she knew in advance that she was lined up to present the Channel Four Daily when it began)... Christabel King (shown here), Anne Leuchars, Tim Nirlsen Zeinab Badawi, David Cass, Brenda Rowe, and Gavin Scott were the relief presenters that I can remember in that period, although there were many more - I think they went though so many presenters because ITN found it hard to get relief hosts in when Phil and Richard were unavailable as seemingly not many newscasters wanted to do the overnight shift!
It’s crazy that the moderator genuinely asked if the reason women voters chose Clinton was because he was attractive and no one called her out on it. To claim that Hitchens was the sexist one while letting that comment hang in the air is insane to me
"Well, you won't get that, either."😂😂😂 (at the end of a brief clip starting at 22:42 for context.) Christopher could be a colossal ass at times and occasionally breached the the bounds of civility and good taste. But he was never afraid to tell the truth -- or how he felt about so many of the world's sacred cows. Even when he went too far, his common sense, logic, hit and humor were both spot on and persuasive. Christopher did not suffer fools, and he gave no quarter to the well-intentioned but deluded laity of the Church, and had no tolerance for its outright hypocritical -- and often immoral and criminal -- leadership.
Jim Garrison really put one over on the American people. He knew the masses couldn't accept the lone gunman story no matter how much evidence supported that conclusion. He realized that the demand for conspiracy theories was way ahead of the supply in the immediate aftermath of the loss of such a beloved President and so he came up with a doozy. I don't think he even knew when he started his webb of lies where they would lead in the end but that didn't matter to him. It's really quite cruel what he did to the individuals who were implicated in his desperate attempt to carry on his deception. Clay Shaw was known to be a good man who had done his bit in the war and besides annoying Garrison by being a homosexual he never deserved the treatment he received from Garrison and never recovered from it. Anyone his still believes Garrison was anything other than a narcissistic sociopath obviously doesn't know the real facts.
