Its a great device endeed, but they have not given it the love it deserves. I see the ui24 get a lot of updates. I mean come on the ui24 has a LPF an this mixer doesn't even have that the last update it had was in 2018 and this mixer would have a lot more potencial if it had most of the fitures of the ui 24 that's what i ask man my ui 16 would see more road... it would see road if they put the fitures of the ui 24 in it... but until that happens for small gigs ill keep using my Dl1608 from mackie that it's old but at least the system is up to date with there newest mixers... the only thing thats missing is 2 extra FX and frankly i don't even need them
Clamps are not bad, but still there are some issues: 1) The way you show it - the mic goes too deep into the drum. To fix this - you need to bend it out manually. 2) Rubber things between connector and "rail" - are really rubber. I got one broken on one of my clamps just while I was attaching it. 3) The same place doesn't reduces lower-frequency vibrations enough. On heavy shell mic can start waving like a banner on the wind. 4) Not enough depth of the clamp for some applications. It hardly fits DW-true hoops, it doesn't fit die-cast hoop, unless you cut some rubber out of clamps with some razor blade. 5) However, top plastic hook can be easily broken if you take it out not gently enough. And no option to repair it. They are chip. And they do the job. But beware of the problem it has. But thank you for review any way! Whish there would be more of such about other minor things....
Stupid background muzac, not a single sight of the rear connectors, the presenter touches his face, ears and nose, which is gross. The product is excellent and has longevity but avoid using one this cretin has touched without sterilizing it first.
I’m thinking if you need to keep verifying your computer it has something to do with a rotating WiFi address. It may be an easy setting to fix in your WiFi settings. Look for something like private WiFi address
I have the Ui24r and keeping a connection has been a big problem even when my tablet sits on top of the unit. I also use another one with my band....same problems. I set up an external router on both and they work but at times there's a disconnect. Both the routers were used so that might be a reason why they aren't used anymore so I just bought a more powerful one and configured it. So far so good but your advice of turning off the auto connect sounds good. That'll be next. Great video.
Sound quality wise age isn't to big of a deal with mixers. Newer mixers do tend to have better sounding effects, but that's not always the case. An MG10XU is still being made today, and for good reason. Yamaha mixers are great and the built in compressors are so much nicer than hauling around a rack compressor.
I haven't heard them myself. I have yet to hear a Yorkville subwoofer that I don't like, but I much prefer 12s and 18s over 15s so I likely would prefer the PSA1S over it.
Has everything needed to get a good live sound and works in the studio too. The fx and modelling for guitar and bass is ok too. The 12 and 16 are on the small side for a full band though. Just purchased a second Ui24R, these are great digital mixers. One should take note of that multritrack recording 16-20 tracks at 24bit on the 24 is best with an externally powered SSD or Nvme, it can use all the space available too. The build in Wi-Fi is not good though, so best to get a small router, found a tiny one from MikroTik which also has PoE on one port, which can come in handy when using powered antennas. Using that router to have wi-fi and lan for the mixer and a mini pc with a touchscreen, tablets are nice but to small. If more channels are needed, two 24’s can be cascaded. The only thing I wish they also had is Dante, would make it a lot cheaper to connect to FOH.
I’m having a big issue with my ui16 I keep getting the “connecting” message on my screen if I hold my iPad a no farther than a foot away from the mixer. So I cant control the sound well I’m am playing anymore without having to leave the iPad setting on the mixer. But we played a show at a different place and it worked well, I could walk away from the mixer to sound check. But then, that same day we played at our weekly gig and again could not connect. I’m new to mixing and I do my best to research but I can’t figure this out. And it’s messing with my bands show every week. Is there a fix without buying a router? Because it worked just fine at the other show. And some weeks we set up just the same as every week and it just works fine allowing distance from the mixer and not freezing with the connecting message. Is there anyone willing to help me and walk me through this? Thanks for any suggestions or help!
A router is a good idea, but it sounds like you are having the issue I mention in the video where your iPad wants to connect to the venues WiFi. Make sure you have automatically connect turned off for any WiFi options at that venue.
I've been using a pair of these for about 10 years. Fantastic subs!!!!! I paid close to $2k for each. They weigh in at 120lbs, but are easy to move around with the built in casters that allow you to just tilt the cabinet back and roll. My favorite subs from the last 30 years of DJing. I've used 18s, 15s, double 15s...these double twelve base reflex speakers are amazing. They get down low low low, they have a very controlled wave, not bloated base. You are the only person I've ever seen review them. QSC has a double 12 sub...it's "meh" compared to this. I've gotten lots of compliments on the low end characteristics of my system. I use the Parasource Powered 12 for tops....they are amazing. 60 lbs each but very easy to move aroud because they have handles on both sides and on the top. They put out a mind blowing amount of base - down to 45 hz . People are astounded to learn the cabinet is loaded with a 12 and not a 15. Also, I love the yorkville sound. It has great forward presence and the high end is gentle on your ears. It was worth the investment. I also have a set of yorkville NX10. Very innovative design. The speaker pole actually can go all the way THRU THE CABINET so you can mount more then one on a pole and point them in different directions. They can also be used on the floor as monitors. Very versatile little speaker. Fantastic midrange. Vocals, again, have a real presence here. Glad to see another person enjoying Yorkville!
Great vid man, thanks. I’ve had one of these since 2008/9 and it’s never let me down. However, one question for you! I play a laptop into RCA inputs on channel 11 and I use a pair of EV sx300’s out of the speakons on the back of the Pa… my bass amp head just packed up running through an ashdown abm410 (with speak on inputs)… is it possible using the ST OUT on this amp (I know these are Jack out but bear with me) that I can run my bass through the ashdown cab via this mixer whilst simultaneously running my EV passive speakers? Those speakers have speak on in and out, and I’ve successfully plugged the out into the ashdown but of course that then has the laptop backing music and vocals coming through the cab, which don’t sound as good… I realise it’s probably impossible just to use this for my bass independently into the cab and the ev speakers running vocals and backing tracks… but if you know a way of doing it (maybe with a pre-amp/DI box?) would be amazing to know… cheers man 👊💥
THANK YOU for actually taking off the capsule! You've confirmed to me that the capsules are replaceable and that they are actually Shure Beta58a copy capsules which is what I want. It's literally the first thing I would do so I'm amazed that I've been through many reviews and nobody even seems to have even thought of it. EDIT. it's a proprietry size of capsule so no fitting shure capsules or anything like that. The handling noise is high on the mic and the plosives are too high on the capsule.

The size of Typhon 15 is huge, Typhon 12 is simply small in comparison I choose for electronic dance music, which is better - wharfedale typhon or macki thump 212 and 215, what can you say about this in comparison? I also have a sub wharfedale t sub 15, and I'm thinking of buying another one
Hi, can you recommend some monitor speakers to connect to the Aux1 and Aux2 inserts? I do have that mixer and has been very useful with my band, but we need to add some monitors so we can hear better ourselves on stage.
I got a Beryl AX router from router and used double sided tape to tape it over the WiFi sign. My rack case cover still closes over it. I turned off the 2.4ghz network and just use 5ghz. Don’t know the range but I’m always close to the mixer and don’t have any problems. Using my iPhone with it is a real pain though.
I stopped using my Ui12 because the connection was not reliable enough. It would only work hard wired. It would not stay connected on wifi. Either the built in hotspot or a external router.
Great video- but I'm unclear on one thing. I'm not sure that the crossover works as both a low pass for the sub and and high pass for the tops, I think it may just be a low pass point for the subs and not affect the tops. Can you confirm that this crossover affects the tops also? Thanks!
I have a wireless mic system prewired in and a power strip, so nothing crazy. The wireless mics are nice because I can walk into an event and just run my mains and be ready for speaking events. It is overkill for DJing but I do bring it to some events as well.
Please i need a solution...am so frustrated with the ui24r i just got few months....the wifi is not blinking and the hdmi is not showing also..just the LR blinking till eternity..please what is the solution
I just bought one (Arktik Blu) and love it. I keep going back and forth as to swapping out the stock ceramic pick-ups with alnico's, but so far the they sound great.
If you get the footswitch it turns this into a pretty professional gig amp ... Use tone room to adjust the levels of the modulation pedals and control the midrange eq ... The ac30 setting sounds just like am ac30 ... Most fans and people at a gig will not be able to tell that its not an ac30 trust me
I'm still trying to find out how to seitch the guitar fx on and off without having to switch snapshots of the entire mix or having to touch the mixer. Is there some sort of footpedal to control the effects on/off via midi somehow?
There is a footswitch input on the side but I have never used it. I would take a read through the manual and see it will do what you are looking for, could solve your issue.
