Honestly I think Islam is very similar to stoicism. In Islam we are pushed to be in a state of peace & humility but with God being a center & the one to reveal these beliefs as a guideline to life. The way both were revealed is different but the philosophy regarding obtaining peaceful quality of life is similar.
I am a former Sufi Muslim, currently a Stoic philosophy follower.from my humble opinion, Stoicism is far from Islam , and the most important word in Stoicism is LOGOS which mean the dynamic force within nature , therefore Goodness in stoicism is what complete according to nature for a rational being qua rational being. In Islam , goodness is to fulfill the religious duties, even if it goes against nature . Virtues in stoicism are not the same virtues in Islam

No, Sufism promotes a direct contact literally, they claim talking to God and God talking back to them, that is an unacceptable believe to most Muslims throughout history.

Choosing to satisfy my curiosity was one of the best decision to make practicing these teachings is exactly everything I need to get me through a difficult situation and make important decisions that will change and shape my future exactly how I want it I have a amazing opportunity but it😂means change and everything I have known for 30 years sounds scary, but I’m super excited m whole life is going to change along with everyone in it except for my family.I have been praying for years feeling frustration despair depression stuck almost hopeless wondering why I am not trying anything just complaining about how bad it was and what am I going do??? Still nothing finally the timing is aligned with an opportunity of creating whatever life I want. I begin this journey this month but I am so excited for o start designing my beautiful life. The concept of masculinity is so backward and outdated that it is sad to see it arbitrarily associated with stoicism. The Stoic ideal was certainly not man but the 'Vir', that is, the virtuous person (who could be a man or a woman). Instead of misrepresenting Stoicism you should read Musonius Rufus.
Sad. Be controlled by a religion and do things that are good only because the religion tells you that you must. This is the opposite of Stoicism. There is no god. If there was the middle east would be the most peaceful place on Earth.
Have you ever read a single word of actual stoic philosophy? Beginning from Heraklit, over Zenon, to Seneca and Marcus Aurelius, they all have one thing in common: Letting the Kosmos (world / universe) guide you, and this Kosmos is controlled by the Logos - a concept basically equal to god. Being religious and obeying the gods is a key aspect of stoicism, hence it's adaptation in the Christian / catholic faith (during the scholastic era). This was only possible due to many islamic philosophers keeping this knowledge and bringing it back into the western world (Ibn Sina, Ibn Rushd etc. are all mentioned by Thomas Aquino). Especially the idea of Kismet within İslam is basically equal to the core of stoicism (let destiny guide and lead you through life).
@@EsutM : Thanks for the interesting feedback that allows me and others to connect the dots between Stoicism and Islam. I have only read some of Marcus Aurelius writings and it is clearly full of wisdom and it reads like inspired words that can ressemble to the revelations of God to the prophets through Gabriel. That said, we have been given a heart and mind to think and it is a "Fitra" of humans to go back to their origins. Stoics who emphasise on high moral values most likely had a very disciplined and rigid lifestyle to allow their heart to be connected to the almighty
There is no peace in SOME PARTS OF middle east because of Oil and Geo Politics not because of Islam. Majority of middle east is very peaceful and ranks top in the safety index and other parameters.
100% of the wars and destabilization in the middle east is caused/impacted by the US. Which is a secular society. Which means godless. There is your answer.
Now when I look back on different behaviors my narcissistic husband displayed, I totally ignored the red flags in hope that my love would be enough to change him. I'm ashamed to say, I didn't know what to call his behavior. When his lack of empathy and emotional disconnect has gotten worse over the years, I started doing research on narcissistic behavior disorder. I must say, I became obsessed. He had all of the traits and then some. It was easier to deal with the tantrums he would have like a three year old when he couldn't have his way. So I always gave in and went along with him. The arguments wasn't worth it. Now that I'm getting the education, he goes else where for supply. I'm working on me. I hadn't even realized I had lost so much of me. He hasn't never been supportive of nothing I've ever done. I found it hard to believe my husband was jealous of me. But there again was another red flag I missed. He jealous of anyone that's doing better than him. He find fault in everyone. I have said to him, "I have never heard you compliment anyone. All you do is criticize and find fault even with your own wife and children." I didn't know then what I know now. He would become enraged. I started watching him closely, and the many mask he wears would exhaust a normal person. It's to much to remember. I don't see how he keeps up. He's an herbitual lair, and a master manipulator. He knows more than anybody, but yet I have never seen him read a book. He gives unsolicited advice and got highly upset when I told him he can't tell me anything because he doesn't read God's word. I think my A personality type and my strong faith in God scares him. Thank God our home is big enough so that I don't have to see him only in passing. I avoid him at all cost. I won't even speak back when he speaks to me because I don't trust that he's not trying to start a fight. I can't move out right now, but my silence keeps him at bay. He can't figure me out now that I'm being educated (unbeknownst to him) so he can't figure me out. I keep my ear bugs in listening to podcast like these.
