Home buyers need to cut the original selling price in half, like offer half of what people are asking. And walk away from the house if the home owner doesn’t agree. If everyone starts to do this house prices will drop because they won’t be able to sell their house. We should do this for 30 years so they really drop the prices. In the meantime tent out or live in your car and save the money you would have spent on rent. Value things differently than how the system wants you to.
Trying to emphasize more that people need to be financially ready or be ready to make a lot of sacrifices during the first few years where FAs make very little money.
This isn't just for flight attendants. But getting rid of a vehicle thats paid off is just stupid, you may need to live in it, because you cant find rent for 600 a month. I live in my tundra , and i couch surf with friends and family. I travel alot with my job, so most of the time i stay in motels paid for by the company, but many times no rooms are available, so i take the motel money put it in my wallet or bank account and I sleep in my truck quite comfortably. Why have a house ill never get home to live in?
Even if a vehicle is paid off, it could easily cost the person hundreds of dollars per month for insurance, gas, and maintenance. Some paid off vehicles could be worth keeping, it just depends on if the flight attendant’s income level supports car ownership or not. In Denver, you can get an unlimited train and bus pass for only $90/month. That’s cheaper than owning an older car. Yes, you can definitely get rent almost anywhere for $600 per month, you just have to be willing to live with roommates. I know plenty of people in their 30s and 40s who have roommates because living alone is too expensive.
Have you lived here in the last 15 years and seen things go downhill? The homeless crisis, DUIs, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and huge rise in petty crime have all increased with too many people flocking here. The quality of life here is not what it was even 5-6 years ago and you have to make almost six figures to have a comfortable life here.
Many of the mainline airlines are in contract negotiations right now, but we are definitely only paid for about 50-80% of the actual hours we work. And for some airlines, wages have been at the same scale for several years.
Moved from a $1600 2bd/2ba 2400sqft house, garage, front and back yard because my landlord sucked and it needed renovated. The cheapest thing I could find was a studio apt for 2k/month. Move in costs totaled $7500. I put that $7500 as a down payment on a new trailer, my cost of living is now under $1k (loan, insurance, rv park rent/utilities) and it’ll be paid off within 6months from purchase paying what I did at my last place. Wish more people took the risk, it’s worth it!
Holy smokes! What year was that rent? I remember paying $300-400 for a room up until about 2017/2018. The baseline prices have really gotten out of control (mostly due to supply and home prices going bonkers).
An old landlord during the Pandemic jacked the rent on a 3BR condo from $1900 to $2700 when the lease renewed. Guy had owned the condo for many years (about 15 years) and was already making a lot on the property. He later tried to hike the rent again, listing it on Zillow for $2900 and had to drop the price a few times over multiple months because people couldn’t/wouldn’t bite. It’s really sad to see the greed that happens among people who take advantage of the rental shortage in places like Bozeman, Bend, and Portland.
Yes, domestic flights are free and international are cheap. However, the bigger issue is that if you make so little money that you’re broke (or worse, going in debt) you won’t be able to afford to pay for lodging, food, and experiences while flying other places for free. Some of the schedules are also extremely demanding for flight attendants, with 12-14 hour days being very common. It’s also common for newer flight attendants to work 5-6 days in a row, and that can be very exhausting when you work long shifts too ofter.
$2200 a month is way more than you'd get at my airline. (Minnesota based *Hometown Airline*). They l The pay is pitiful. You need another person to help (parents, spouse etc). It is not a glamorous job at all! 💞
Regional FAs are paid peanuts. It’s very sad to see what you guys go through. I should have specified that the higher take home pay is for mainline airlines. Southwest just got a massive 20% pay increase and they start at $35.
That’s horrible. They really need to pay their FAs a livable wage. You can’t survive on that unless you could teleport from the Deep South to your base and only spend $10/day on food.
Also consider you are not paid until the aircraft doors close. I’ve seen many flight attendants discussing that online. Flyers: keep this fact in mind. Put your own damn bag in the overhead bin; they’re literally not paid to do it for you.
Yes, most airlines only pay FAs for about 50-75% of the time they are working. When we are stuck at the gate, we are usually paid $0 for that time. And while waiting at other airports, we are also paid $0 for that time, except $2-3/hr for “per diem”. You’ll often work a 12-14 hour day and only be paid for 6-9 of those hours. 😢
@@banjobarry08 That’s absolutely horrendous; you should be paid for every minute you work for the airline. Is it also true that you are not allowed to claim workers compensation for injuries sustained before the cabin doors close?
@@GoblinModeMVP there’s an old law called the Railroad Act and somehow the airlines fell underneath it. It allows airlines to pay FAs and pilots only for very specific hours. Some airlines are adding boarding pay, but it is not the norm yet, and it’s usually a lower hourly rate than regular pay. It will probably be 2025 or 2026 before all the major airlines increase the pay for flight attendants to a livable wage.
@@GoblinModeMVP yes, I don’t know the specifics, but there are certain instances where we are not covered by Workman’s Comp, even though we are on the job.
@@banjobarry08 Absolutely awful, you all deserve so much better! You are the face of the airline and the reason flights are made more comfortable. You’re responsible for passenger safety. You should be paid your fair share!
What dumbass would go to college and get massive student loans to become a flight attendant? That's a perfect job for someone fresh out of highschool with several years of good experience in a service industry that wants to travel the world for a couple years before moving overseas. At least that's what I'd do if I was starting all over again.
The airlines have different training centers in different cities. Southwest is Dallas. United is Houston. Delta is Atlanta. American is Dallas. Training ranges from about 4 weeks to 8 weeks, depending on the airline.
$2000-2200 per month. Depending on where you’re based, that could be a poverty level income. That amount of income is practically impossible if someone has student loans or a high car payment.
@@banjobarry08 appreciate the reply. And yeah location matters A LOT. I just make less than that so my personal struggle triggered a moment 😅 apologies.
@banjobarry08, if you want to get engagement, you should make your backgrounds show some of the information you're talking about instead of two static images.
I found Ms. Wallace while looking for Gesus Bambino. Obviously this is several years later and it is obvious her natural talent has been disciplined to make a fine singer.
LtGerbal they literally start and end in key. There are no pitch issues, maybe some vowels could use some work so that they lock their chords but unless you provide a time stamp of exactly where; you're talking out your ass
Unusual but really great version of this 'local tune' (for me). I was a bit sceptical at first but the lads won me over. A great upload and well done guys, a pleasure to listen to youse.
I agree with James, hand movements take away from the song. Yes they can help with singing by being kinesthetic but they are very distracting and all attention should be to the sound and their faces. Body language can alter the emotions they're trying to portray. This is a sad song yet they seem very cheerful when they get to the refrain
