As a commercial helicopter pilot with over 10k hrs, I find it sad that the DCS Devs can never get helicopter flight physics quite right. You can tell the quality in a helicopter sim in how closely it performs during an autorotation.
Thank you for your comment. The performance during an AR is a very big indicator of the quality of a flight model. And ED's latest helicopters, the Apache but also the Hind, perform very poorly in autorotation. The Huey and the Hip otoh are quite okay. They have their issues, but are still better than the two newest helicopters. And what makes me very sad is that neither the Hind nor the Apache got FM updates for a very long time. Even worse, ED works on the SAS, CAS and hold modes to cope with the "bad" FM instead of making a proper FM in the first place. Now the status of the Apache's and Hind's FM really make me wonder how the Chinook's FM will be...
Hiya Foxy, I am trying to get my pc working again after 9 weeks of no flying in DCS but just watching others with new version 2.9.3 that has better effects. I bought new maps and planes, but they have not come out yet. I have WIN 10 running now but its not running well, many things do not work. I cannot wait to Fly the Corsair F4U through the Crane Piers and on the WW2 version of Marianas Island. Glad Your back !!!
Hi Mike! If you like, contact me via the DCS forum direct message. Perhaps I can help you with your PC. I'm also waiting for the Corsair. But I'm afraid the 4YA guys won't implement it to the Project Overlord. And there will be no human opposition in a pacific scenario.
Howdy IFoxRomeo !!! Flying an Apache now, and not a Dora FW190 ( You taught Me how to take off ) many years ago. I recently updated my PC and cannot believe the difference in the way DCSW looks now compared to my old i7-4790K and 680 gpu.
Thank you. Actually it is possible, but I would not recommend it. A joystick and throttle/collective and pedals will bring you closer to the helicopter feeling.
@@Foxromeoindia at one point you indicated no mw50 refill, then without a landing/TO sequence you were on the mw50 at 17.3 ...I may have missed ? I meant 23.28' It seems odd that the K4 can run 1.68 without mw50 (bug?) while in the p47 water injection will only allow higher mp I guess the systems are just different if not bugged
In this mission only one airfield could refill MW50. It is far away from the action, so I decided to repair/refuel at a closer airfield. A full MW50 tank allows a cumulated runtime of approx. 26 minutes MW injection. Once the MW-Stoff is depleted you have to reduce throttle to 1,45ATA or below. The supercharger is capable to deliver 1,8ATA up to high altitudes. MW50 is not necessary to increase the boost, but necessary to reduce knock/detonation tendency of the B4 fuel that was used in the Bf109. Without MW50 the engine will knock and get damaged quickly and fail when set above 1,45ATA. I'm not sure about the implementation in the P-47D. It seems wrong, but I have to check how it works in a Thunderbolt.
OMG! Absolutely awesome. I've heard of emergency autoration landing but didn't know it would work in. Hats off to ED as they did an awesome job. What kinda joystick are you using for cyclic?
Just got my first VR headset yesterday, the reverb G2. Tried out DCS with a free flight in the P47 and F 16. It was very slide-show-esque (on a free flight even!). Also, the instruments were super clear, but everything outside the cockpit was very blurry (I do use reading glasses, but don’t for fear of scratching the G2 lenses, not sure this is the issue). IL2 doesn’t have the frame rate issues, but aircraft outside the plane cannot be ID’ed easily due to blurriness and double vision (IPD is set correctly). Do you have these experiences, or do I have a lot more work to do setting up my new headset? Oh, and how were you able to zoom with VR?
Please join ED's forum and or discord, and SoW discord. There you can ping me. That way it is easier to solve your issues. The VR setup can be tricky at first. If the cockpit is clear, the outside world should be clear as well. Zoom can be set via the settings for the GUI, check the dropdown menu on the top left in the settings screen.
Do you mean the visual representation or the fact that the tail comes off? Check this, for a example of a single Mk108 round on a Spitfire in a controlled test: images.app.goo.gl/KycMBWHPqFAj15hs7
@@Foxromeoindia the fact that the tail comes off in one piece from one 30 mm HE SHELL fired from the rear quarter is not believable ..such a hit would detonate upon contact and shred the area in more than one piece
The shot in the linked gif comes from the direction of the camera. For me it doesn't seem improbable to separate the tail section with a single 30mm Minengeschoss. Even from behind. It was a weapon designed to destroy heavy bombers like B-17. An average of 4 hits was enough for a B-17. This is a extreme weapon. If you are not convinced, you could start a discussion on the Eagle Dynamics forum.

Been flying other sims while DCS works out their “stuff”. I heard the P-47 early would not have the stabilizer behind the canopy. Are you finding the nose wobbles more than before?
Yes, the early one lacks the additional stabilizer. I have to compare the early with the late aircraft. But my initial feeling is, the difference is little. I think the additional stabilizer helps to prevent departure into a spin and not so much to reduce wobble.
