Food is the one thing that we all have in common and it is a powerful vehicle for change. After living and working in London for close to 25 years, I moved to a remote town in Sicily called Mussomeli in December 2020. I did this before the end of the Brexit transition period and I am happy to report that I am now an Italian resident. In July 2021 I launched a community kitchen here in Mussomeli called The Good Kitchen. Every week I rescue surplus food and then use that food to cook for vulnerable people of the town. The kitchen has become a social hub in the town and many people come to make friends and share a meal together. Follow my journey here in Sicily and also learn more about The Good Kitchen
Ciao. What a wonderful service for the people of Mussomelli.Makes me want to purchase a one way ticket, back a bag of essential items and off I go.Continued success in all your endeavors.Grazie.Antonio Philadelphia Pennsylvania U.S.A.
Hi Danny, once you have made the pesto, how do you incorporate it into Pasta and then serve it? Thank you for sharing. Cheers from near Lake Eildon Victoria
Hi Danny, So happy you have taken on this honourable charitable kitchen project for the peplos Sicily. Many places in the world get help and support for people but Sicily is usually not one of them because it is Italy and most polls think scything pace in Itay is well to do. Not is the case in a lot of town in Sicily and as a Sicilian born I commend you and want to thank you for what your doing. I too have been thinking about buys a 1 euro house but it seems that all the ones I find are really inhabitable and need a lot of work to almost complete rebuilding so nt a good option for me at this point. But wanted to ask if there is any good opportunities in the town your in that maybe me in better shape and that would not require as much work. Since you have boots on th ground that I thought it would be worth asking. Let me as I am interested in a good opportunity that ca be easily renovated on some time as I am not in a real rush but would love to have something in Sicily at some point as a base to visit and help give back to the place my parents are from. Again thank you and keep up the good work.
Hi great video thank you …if I hold an Aussie passport does this 1 Euro program give me residency?? as I don’t see the point in buying if I’m not allowed to live in it Thank you
You are cooking with a friend named Claudia in a Villa in Florence. I hope it doesn't refer to a guy in a white robe jumping off a tall building and still surviving after landing on some haystacks
*Hi Sir Danny I saw news of you on hotmail italian. We live here in ROme IT and personally I ve always wanted to live (on vacation) in places like Sicily. You just need to be more creative with ideas on how to attract tourists in your area like putting on AIRBnB part of your house? I wish you the best blessings in your venture there.GOD BLESS YOU!*
Danny just found your channel and subscribed. You had mentioned that there are a lot of habitable homes for sale, not the 1e ones but habitable ones....just curious on the affordability of a livable economical home there?? If you are too busy with all your wonderful activities with the good kitchen, no worries. Thank you for your videos and just being a kind good human. its uplifting to see good folks doing good things with their life and energy:)
Why so much flour 100 grams? You can make a starter with just 25 grams, much less discard? As well rye four makes for a better and tastier and stronger starter. I always feed my starter with 100% whole organic rye flour, you can bake bread with any kind of flour but starter fed only with the rye.
What happened with the funds you raised? I imagine they are going into your food kitchen and maybe toward a new residence for you to live in? Ciao and all best wishes!! You’re an angel to the town.
wow Danny, its great to see you have a channel,I saw you on another channel talking about your community kitchen and I love the fact you are wanting to gve back and integrate fully inot the community in Sicilly, befriending your elderly neighbours and not simply buying up in order to have a holiday home that you might visit once ina while or rent out. I was afraid that when I saw the recent BBC tv programme on renovating the one euro houses that they might all get bought up by wealthy people who just want a getaway and would not do much for the local community or economy or to revive life in those towns. I am here in the UK atm and am definitely interested in looking at life in southern Italy and possibly Sicily.I love aspects of living in the UK but on the whole find the lack of community and joy of living and espcially the lack of food culture which might seem insignificant to many here in thee Uk but to me is such as esential part of life and it seems that in Italy food is such an important role in living la dulce vita. I would love to know more about what it entails and cost for renovation and securing local builders and so on. I look forward to following your channel and hopefully finding out more about life in Sicily and how realistic it would be for me to buy a home of some sort.
This is so inspiring. I love what you are doing! I am very curious to know the costs related to a renovation of place like this. Could you please share how much the expenses are to completely renovate a house like this? Thanks
Thank you. Today I shot some videos of two houses that are for sale here in Mussomeli, I will post this up over the weekend. Each week I will take a video of various houses that are for sale here :) Cheers Danny
My wall would get soaked inside my house because my arsehole neighbor put his floor up against my wall. Hes such a wanker. Anyhoo good to hear you got things sorted out mate.
