I learned this lesson with charge blade and im glad it applies to longsword as well. The only way to 100% guarantee you will avoid an attack is to try and counter it.
Adept Style is awesome on every weapon except maybe the HBG, Some people in the MH community refer to the hunts being a "dance" with the monsters, and i feel like adept style really REALLY capitalizes on that, when you've mastered adept style the battles really feel like your ducking and weaving between yourself and the monster and its honestly a beautiful feeling when you've gotten it down to rhythm. It's been my favorite style since even when MHGU was just MHG back on the 3DS.
Striker is great on S&S and as well as great sword, I'm not sure what the oldest monster hunter you've played is but the classic monster hunter GS plays best as a hit&run weapon. you wait for an opening charge up the highest slash you can in the window then roll away and sheath, Rinse and Repeat. you lose the great charge slash but have a regular charged slash (up to lvl 3). its actually the second most used style for the weapon. (VGS being most used and AGS being third)
Rustrazor is (unfortunately) the best LS but a substitute I like more is the Research LS, Authority Nonius. Fair bit of Purple and White and 3 slots with 25 affinity. Not completely better but it's quite cosy. Also I think you'd hate Guild style if you weren't crazy about Striker, you get a few moves back but it's very plain.
i can seem to find out the differnce between the styles. i was playing rise and i recently bought gu for switch. as a cb main some things work differnetly. like after shield thrust i dont know how to go to an saed or an aed by pressing x+a again. do you know how to find good guides for gu cb?
Like argentum1738 said you can only do it in Axe mode it was a way to nerf the weapon after being one of the strongest weapon in 4U (Including Insect glaive) so Capcom changed it which is dumb! Lol.
Saed/AED can only be done from guild and i think alchemy style, really suggest Gaijin Hunter's cb guide for it. Styles always take something out of the weapon moveset and give you a different bonus in return.
Brimstone slash does do a ludicrous amount of damage. And you can use a barrel bomb s to trigger it yourself. Thing is it's not a draw attack so it's only good on crits stack greatsword. And since striker greatsword doesn't have anything to do after a charge attack other than another draw attack you'll more often see brimstone slash on guild or alchemy style because they have the strong charge and super slash infinite combo respectively
Striker style is mostly good on sns just because the hunter arts are insanely quick to recharge, and sns is extremely mobile. Honestly, it’s really fun spamming round forces and shorugekis. Just don’t try to get chaos oil III.
Striker great sword takes away the strong charge slash (and thus no strong sweep). The weapon plays very similarly to how it does in Freedom Unite (most striker style weapons have callback movesets). Striker style is for spamming hunter arts since it generates hunter arts more quickly than other styles. Obviously, it's better for weapons with strong hunter arts/very reliant on utility hunter arts however some striker weapons have stronger movesets than other styles. For example, striker lance have a ridiculously strong stab after dashing.
Ye rustrazor is the best LS but grinding out the diviant quests to max it out can be annoying. I can’t wait for the fatalis trio they are so satisfying with valor GS
I'm playing on PC with an xbox controller, and I had constant issues with the radial menu not always working. Turning off my wireless mouse fixed the issue.
Aerial dual blades are easily my favorite way to play Dual Blades in general. I love the mobility, the feeling when you dodge something with the launch attack, and spinning along the length of monsters is really fun.
i certainly prefer flurry rush but flight is fun as a mix up sometimes. I think flurry rush ends up still doing more damage through the hunt because it has higher uptime and it’s easier to stay locked on to a weak spot
There’s a good amount of aerial styles in rise! Elemental great sword + hunting edge, twin vine on lance, axe hopper/air dash, gunlance is basically an aerial weapon in this iteration. They weren’t super meta in GU either but it’s always fun
Spam zsd kinda bad in my experience with it the damage is losing to regular switch combo , i only use it when the monster do combo that i cant counter or dodge it wont give me much benefit Or use it to positioning while doing damage 😢
Hey, just wanted to ask if it's possible for you to make a pre-anomaly shenanigans builds. I want to try out different weapons now that I've finished the story but I can't seem to find any that has recommendations up to that point, either the builds are at the very end game or at the end of base game.
I recently started doing this on rise, just entering some random online quest, helping someone out. Just a break from getting my shit rocked by Amatsu.
@ 2:29 whenever i Augment: Skills+ for trying to get the bloodlust and remove Kushala blessing. I can only ever roll bloodlust with damage removal. was there any way of forcing it to only get rid of Kushala blessing or is it just pure RNG?
