I saw both at Charing wonderful it was the speeed with them I was crying with joy 🤩 because it was my first steam tour since august! And I did hear lots of noise aka horns so maybe that’s what I heard from lenham 😁 great video 🤩 keep it up ❤😊
Only one slip from a Bullied Pacific, rebuilt or not? Actually, I am aware that Bulleid's boilers into three big cylinders could produce shed loads of torque and that slipping, loaded or unloaded, was part of 'their thing'. Watch any pre sixties general steam film and the Bullied pacifics always slipped, it was what they did. Other than that, they pulled like Shire Horses on steroids. I think we are kind of lucky that so many of them survived into preservation and that so many of those are Main Line qualified, even the Spam Cans.

Personally I always get a bit disappointed when I see a magnificent steam hauled train like this, with a diesel engine attached to the rear. Seems a bit of a cheat really and is not consistent with how things would have looked back in the days of steam.
Stupid question. There seems to be a diesel engine at the end of each steam train. Does it provide propulsion or just make electricity for the coaches?
It can provide propulsion if needed on steep sections and to insure the train keeps to schedule. It can also serve to rescue the steam locomotive if it fails.
Very sadly it is a requirement that the diesel must travel with a steam engine on the mainline nowadays. Personally I'd prefer if it followed at a discrete distance but there it is.
@@graftygreen6235 I have been on the Paignton - Dartmouth steam train and the steam train from Ft. William (Harry Potter train). Where could I look to find other steam excursions?
@@cdnmetelhead4013 I would recommend that you travel on a heritage railway such as the North Yorkshire Moors Railway on a steam gala weekend. The spring and autumn steam galas will have a good variety of locomotives and rolling stock.
Thank you Howard! I went to see your version at the beginning of August and have just uploaded a video of 92134 leaving Grosmont with drain clocks open for your enjoyment. It was exhilarating to say the least. The model has working drain clocks too and there are other videos of it on my channel being fired up on my line in Kent. Thank you for saving the locomotive, it has had quite a journey. Best wishes William
Good video Have not seen many of the new Aster / Accucraft 9F's running. You seem to have done a great job building the locomotive she runs well, A close up of the engine standing still would be a nice way to end the video though. Thanks for sharing.
There was a fix for that on the original Aster 9F's it should work on these as well if you are worried about it. I have attached a link to the forum about it. www.tapatalk.com/groups/g1rf/aster-9f-lubrication-t227.html
I have some RU-vid videos under my name and we ran a original Aster black one in the latest video. I have a green Evening Star but am tempted to get a black single one as they look quite nice
@@graftygreen6235 I had a tunnel, bridge over pond, viaduct, trestle bridge, embankment etc. I later rebuilt it 3 foot off the ground, easier on the back but not scenic at all. That line has also been lost.
@@ldb281 Your previous railway sounds fantastic. Are you a member of G1MRA? It is by far the best way to continue with the hobby even if you don't have a line yourself. Best wishes Grafty 5368
@@graftygreen6235 Been a member since 1986. Just built my seventh railway, go to be a record. This ones 40ins off ground and a mere 150ft.Think this helps back problem being this height, although pretty difficult to hide. Moved to this place 5 years back , hoping I dont have to build another! Lee PS are you in UK , US....
@@ldb281 the railway is in Kent near our chairman's line. I am currently working abroad in Indonesia. Looking forward to coming back to play trains again soon! 😁
