I had the #2 most kills in the world with the Plasma Rifle in Reach on Halo Tracker. It's selectable in a loadout in Elite Slayer in Matchmaking, and appears on a couple of the forged maps they put in Matchmaking later in the game's life. Every time I could use it, I did. I definitely struggled because of it, but it felt so good beating people with such an underpowered weapon.
The Plasma Pistol was such an underrated gem in Reach. That 7 shot kill is insanely deadly. Most people overlook it for having mediocre tracking on its overcharge, but really? The semi auto is where the real meat of the gun is. Aside from one-hit-kill weapons, its only real competition mid-close range are the magnum and concussion rifle. And it has a huge consistency advantage over both weapons due to the magnum's very wide spread when spammed (paced shots cant keep up with the pp ttk), and the concussion rifle's habit of bouncing enemies in the air to make them harder to hit. But legit, if you're running a DMR or Needle Rifle like you should, the Plasma Pistol is the most effective non-power secondary weapon in the game. No competition. Between its semi-auto close range power, and its vehicle emp capability, pairing it with a precision primary weapon gives you a loadout with no hard counters.
To think that some server admins thought that it was a good idea to host nights when this was the only weapon available on a server, oh the good old days
The CE plasma rifle and fuel rod are two guns that I wish had functionally returned in later games. The mortar effect on CE's seems like it'd be more unique than 2's flak-style fuel rod that mostly just felt like "Rocket launcher 2 (but weaker)"
That said, the physical reloading works better for the weapon than the heat mechanic IMO. Considering you can physically see the rounds it's supposed to be firing on the weapon model. So merging the two in that way would be great.

@@TheRomanTribune It's not though, was never meant to be. It's called the Fuel Rod gun because it fires the Fuel Rods you can see loaded on the top of the gun. Physical canisters of radioactive material isn't plasma. That's why it reloads the way it does in every game other than CE.
The Plasma Repeater I honestly liked in Reach especially during Invasion. Point blank it shredded if you landed your shots. Yeah it made the Plasma Rifle a little redundant, but it was still fun.

The main reason the Plasma Repeater works the way it does (prioritizing health over shields) is because they wanted there to be a far more similar weapon to the AR for Elites to use in Invasion. That's why it nearly does the same damage shot-for-shot to both health and shields that the AR does, and only has a marginally faster TTK to make up for the projectile travel speed. In a lot of ways I think the Plasma Repeater is most overall effective automatic in the game. The ability to both vent at any time, and cancel your vent, means you can take advantage of every small moment of cover in a firefight to boost your battery. That's a huge plus over something like the AR which will lock you in a full reload animation if you try to do the same. It has by far the most potential projectile uptime, which is huge in a game where reloading (or overheating) mid-gunfight is common for the other automatics due to low damage and accuracy. That said, the point is moot in a game where the Plasma Pistol, Magnum, and precision rifles are all so strong they outright trump the automatics. And while I said the repeater is the "overall most effective automatic" in the game, the Needler is the only one with enough stopping power to shut down the sidearms and precision rifles, but that's so long as you're within its minimum and maximum range for perfect tracking. That range is strict enough though that I wouldn't call it overall effective so much as a solid niche pick.
Idk what ur talking about. They doubled down on the arena feel. They have added much improvements to the game. You complain about the game being a "hero shooter" but three classes isn't a hero shooter man. It's just three factions man.

Are there weapons specific to each character? Yes. Whether or not something is “typical” with other hero shooters does not change the fact that this fits with the description of a hero shooter. Also, you misunderstood Blazens meaning about it not feeling like Halo. He doesn’t want the game to BE Halo but was rather stating that the first game had more Halo elements that scratched the Halo itch that he enjoyed, while SG2 drifted away from that feeling.
@@Kaiule I get that he doesn't want it to be halo but I'm saying it still has that halo feel that he liked about the first game. Weapon pickups n stuff and also they still have portals which is another thing he thought they toned down which I disagree with. He says the game isn't like an arena like the first game but they fs doubled down because one of the alpha maps shows u being surrounded by a crowd and being in a literal fighting arena. Like I said before, you can still pickup weapons off the ground and even the weapons from people you killed so set loadouts doesn't really matter.

How to avoid brayn heat burst after 1+2/2 hit I try 3 option but it works sometimes and doesn't work sometimes when I try it on cpu they always skipped it
Update: df1,2 puts them in crouching so not the same and I think the parry might lose to most standing ones however ss 3 is minus 7 and is ch launch so I might have a new favorite buttoon
played legendary for the first time in about 10 years last year, decided to do something different besides pistol/shotgun. Always knew the plasma pistol essentially has infinite ammo with twice the life of a plasma rifle and much faster cooldown time and ubiquity, never noticed how good the damage is for single shots, coupled with rapid fire and perfect accuracy at all times and shield stripping even without charge up shots, the PP is overall the best gun in the game. Kills combat forms and infection forms, grunts and jackals, and elites no problem, it's only struggle is against hunters but it probably isn't that bad, I can't remember. It also has a tendency to hitstun a lot, I think it does slightly more damage than a plasma rifle but with slower bolt velocity.
Seeing stuff like this makes me wonder how humanity was even losing the war in the first place, putting this gun in the hands of the us army would have ended the war on terror in 2 years lol
