The first method of applying the mortar is the best, easiest and less mess, only discovered it last year because people can't teach you shit in these jobs
Warm boardung the inside of your home is far better, ok you might have to prepare the rooms and loose a few inches which is minamal but far superior and insulate your attic, the problem is people are lazy and want miniumum disruption to there homes but for longevity and no problems in the futre warm boarding is the way to go
A proper house envelope it's done from the outside, like a jacket. Done from the inside you get cold spots were the ceiling/floor is.. Off course, one does the external walls and the attic/roof as well
@@luckystrike656 cold spots in the floor and ceiling lol , so external insulation stops floors from being cold and heat travelling up trough the ceiling lol, If cavity walls it's actually useless as by the time the heat penetrated the walls and makes it out to the insulation to bounce back in it would have evaporated in to the air because cavity walls are ventilated hence doing there job, never mind all the damp issues and eaves, sills and door problems, let's see how many complaints come in say 15 to 20 years with external insulation. If you stop and think how much heat is it going to take to heat the internal walls penetrate the walls and trough the cavity bounce back in to heat the house and how long if warm boarded,. Works like a jacket a sales man qoute 😅🤣😂
@@tonyy2100 it majority of cases it is used where the houses are so old they have no cavity! Plus look at K-render (silicone render) it needs very little maintenance, it's shelf life and flexibility is way better than cement or acrylic render. The top methods of rendering right now should be Limestone or Silicone, both breathe and flex after instal.
If people want to pay excessive amounts for insulating there home then yes go for external wrap and in 20 years ya will be paying more again for the problems it has caused, the envelope causes alot of moisture in the house and unless you have a dehumidifier on or some sort of moisture extraction system you are going to have problems because reality and what's on paper are two different things
it is fire rated "1" and fully tested .. lol-- expanded polystyrene (EPS) with graphite and conform to BS EN 13501-1. Class B-s2,d0. This equates to a Class 1 overall fire rating. Like Gypsum and Cement it melts rather than burns.
it is used for external wall insulation on old houses that were built from brick with no cavity which are over 100 years old. You can not insulate an old house with no cavity, therefore you would externally insulate, then render and apply the desires decoration or colour of choice. A few companies carve or brick designs on the render now to make it look like it was without the insulations added.
No one actually really knows because there are not many EPS facades taken apart and inspected. Although EPS allows some vapor passing it's not enough. Automatic ventilation is a plus
@@luckystrike656 with EPS foam it's very important to calculate the dew point inside of the wall, if the dew point is in the insulation then humidity is not going to be a problem, because everything will condense outside. There are millions of homes insulated this way and it rarely ever fails. Most fails are from renovation with improper calculations being done or no calculations at all.
@@UhOhUmm I know, I have a EPS insulation on my house.. I've done it almost 8 years ago with 12cm of EPS, without any calculations tho, but so far so good. No moisture on the inside walls..
and another video failure BECAUSE you choice not to mentioned the cost $$ per square foot on this project and the square feet of this build out. YOU CAN DO BETTER!!!
I'd be wary of such cladding and it's longevity being exposed to the elements. Might as well do an external render. Grenfell Tower Failure in London. The fire spread rapidly due to the cladding which act as a source of fire. Many innocent people died 😢
Grenfell was completely different, they used rainfell cladding this is raphite Expanded - expanded polystyrene (EPS) with graphite and conform to BS EN 13501-1. Class B-s2,d0. This equates to a Class 1 overall fire rating.
This isn't the cladding that was on Grenfell, it's not cladding at all. There are rock wool boards for the same purpose installed the same way, they are more expensive but cannot burn and don't need to be as thick as styrofoam. This is literally standard insulation on all of Europe.
Another ecological catastrophe in the make. What a scam, putting petrol bubbles around your stone house to save energy. Houses get mold, worthless, and all has to be redone in 2 decades, what a waste of energy and what a load of pollution. Imagine the ukraine war, all houses in flame and polystyrène flying everywhere. This is nuts.
Col tempo viene la muffa all'interno con il cappotto....e poi è una cazzata il polistirolo all'esterno....ammufiscono i muri con intercapedine.....il muro deve respirare...
It depends on. My mate did one, and the owner did not let them open the outer wall so they went from the inside out lol. But even if that happens you can fix it relatively easy. You just need to remember the colour scale and the adhesive types.

Prepare yourself in advance. I have it, and I left pipe in walls with wires. So if it happens I just pull the wires out, replace motor, pull wires back
It won't be mouldy because the paint contains additives which prevents the mold to grow on it. Also if the roof is well made, no water running on the wall and if there is no splash from the ground, which brings dirt on the surface, you are fine. On the top of that, the paint is silica based, so it is waterrepellent. You can wash it if it gets dirty.
