You made the usual mistake of not shimming the pinion first. The teeth are tapered so the needs to be shimmed first and if the pinion can move in and out on the shaft any excess play needs to be shimmed on the outside this is especially true of spiral cut as the screw themselves in or out under power. Always align teeth before shimming sideways for play. I often shim behind the pinion bearings as there is usually a cut in the shaft just behind the pinion teeth that allows a shim to move off centre.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate long term reviews.!! I'm sick of getting an RC after watching all the release videos only to find out that actually, it starts failing & falling apart after a few months.!! You don't have to worry about that with a Hobao, those things are made to last.!! 👍 👍
After buying my first “fast” RC, which was a Slash 4x4 Ultimate, and upgrading parts as they broke. I’ve learned RC is like anything else and is cheaper to build, piece by piece, with the parts you want it to have.
ya, i think i was a bad design when they engendered the bulkhead. vivatvon has solved the issues. great video brou. very well detailed. keep em rollin. have fun
Hey buddy thanks for the watch and comment , yes I have to agree with you on this one a combination of bad materials on the diff gears and also the poor design On the housing . Fingers crossed this truck should rock now. Keep up the awesome traxxas coverage on your channel . Chris 🤙🤘
Hi chris, nice to see another welsh man on yer, channel is awesome m8, your vids on the sledge are really great, now I know what to kind of do with mine now, cheers chris, all the best from, WALES,
Hey butty , thanks for Watching yes buddy Welsh born and bread here and proud 🏴 Thanks so much for the kind words means a lot. Also nice to find another Welshman here . Defo get that bulkhead buddy it’s worth every penny As they say in Llandow , chow for now buddy 🤙🤘👍🤩😎🛞🚀
Hey Jersey ! thanks my man i love this side of the hobby , making the truck my own and making them tough as a rottweiler fending off its food . Thanks for the kind words and the like wise thinking buddy Chris :)
Hiya buddy , Well to be honest they have not broken so no need to replace yet i do find the traxxas suspension when wheel components to be good so far . if they break ill look to see what my options are dude . Chris : )
Hey buddy , Yeah the driveshafts myself i found to be problematic for sure . but i did find a fix with the exb that worked and included the 5mm shafts . maybe ill update that asap .
Wow thanks my man , really glad you approve on how the trucks come together. time to get this out now and bash it properly and maybe some air time let see how it goes !
It’s never “too much money” if it makes you happy! In my opinion. And upgrading is fun and when your RC performs better it’s all worth it!! And the next guy to get it is hooked up! Lol
Hey buddy , thanks for the vote of confidence and encouragement , for me i love upgrading and updating my trucks , thats just how i am i update and upgrade everything thats just how i roll and what makes me smile . like adding your own touch to the trucks . As for the next guy , this ones a keeper for sure .
Yeah man I don't think it has anything to do with heat I sure hope your diffs are not getting hot cause that wouldn't be good....and I haven't had a need to shim my sledge since I used the vitavon good luck my friend you should be good to go now and only break wing mounts
Hey buddy , if it's not heat i definitely picked up some damage on the rear bulkhead by the looks of it all . Thats Awesome news your bulkheads are holding up well and also the gearing man , As you say this should be pretty damned awesome now fingers crossed . Well funny you should say that i have a solution for the wing mount incoming from garage life . Hope your well mike Stay awesome Chris :)
@@ChriswithaCrc you will notice i do not use many 3d printed wing mounts i hope tysons sledge ones are better then b4 i thru away the old one for the sledge i had but hes been changing alot of things and ive been working very close with tyson on making these parts.... i just think the plastic is to thin and weak it only takes a few runs to weaken it to the point of trashing gears like i said i went thru exactly what your going thru now lol
Nice looks really sharp with all the blue parts u will have to get the blue body to finish it off with the blue scheme 👌 but ya hopefully the gears give ya no more trouble 👍.....
Hey buddy , yeah man i think it looks awesome dont you . i have a plan for the body , im going to be doing it very soon . im going to go with a custom paint scheme . Stay awesome buddy Chris :)
Hi Chris, so buy the Sledge, replace the chassis, shocks , diffs, diff housing etc and now it will be a great Sledge... I think you should rename the car and call it Triggers Broom. :)
Yea you need aluminum bulk heads and new gears everything else is optional if you wanna gear up you will need a new motor mount and I'd throw away that esc as they really lack power same as I told Chris the day he got this
Pretty much dude lol , well it keeps me smiling and thats what the point of this hobby is hey . im pretty sure i can find more upgrades cough cough lol .
yeah mike i hear you buddy , there a awesome truck once right hey ! expensive exercise but there is just something about these sledge's ! Im going to run the stock electrics for now i need to recoup some cash lol
Hey dude ! , well ill be honest with you there are a few parts i would defo say is worth upgrading the rest is fun and making it your own . Get one there tons of fun to drive !
Nice video!!! Hobao is that kind of brand that people tend to forget, but price wise, quality wise, racing pedigree wise, you can’t go wrong. Few brand can offer this kind of mix. I have a question regarding the tires on this Truggy. Do you prefer the Fastrax or the Backflip LP? Thanks and keep going on!!!
Hey buddy i totally agree with you . Hobao is for sure one of those brand people just dont talk about unless you know ! IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW :) Good question btw the Fasttrax truggy rocks all day long gives the truck way more control and work amazing plus it wont wheelie every single time you hit the throttle , just grips and goes like crazy ! Hope this helps Stay awesome Chris :)
Shocked to hear that was on 4s!!! Don’t think in the wet you would have done much apart from spin on 6s! Great video. I’m looking at getting a hobao for my next purchase.
Hey man , I always run mine on 4s , Lower temps , More control faster in corners . Your going to love these dude there EPIC , Make sure you get the upgrades you need for them and your set buddy Stay awesome Chris :)
What a blast looked like you had a great time out there. I am thinking an Xmaxx would love that place it has the clearance for all of those bricks and rocks out there.
Hey buddy , sure was a total blast 💥, As you say the Xmaxx will be amazing around a place like this can’t wait to get one and rip it up there 🤙🤘🚀👍 Hope your well buddy Stay awesome dude Chris 🤙🤘👍
Hi buddy ive spoken with a Arrma Rep and its definitely 10k front , 500k centre and 10k rear . If you was to use 100k in the front and rear youll have issues with turning . Hope this helps , Stay awesome Chris :)
The Outcast v3 was my first basher and 6s rig around 6 or so years ago. I’ve loved the truck ever since I have many versions of it from 4s to 8s It’s a very fun truck but to really reach its potential you need a fair amount of the driver mod turned up 😆 debating taking mine out today, 🤔 bash on bro! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🚀🔥
Hey brother , Man yeah the outcast and notorious are stupidly fun trucks , Ive got a real soft spot for this notorious to be fair . Ha ha yeah driver mods for sure . Did you take yours out for a run after ? Stay awesome buddy Chris :)
What is up dudes ? I just got back from a morning bash . 3 cars , 3 packs . Found a new spot and I liked it . A nice hilly area with hardly any acorns except where the parking is . All I kept hearing was ‼️ dropping acorns bombs and big ass walnuts and buckeyes hitting the cars parked 😂. The best part was finding a good space in the shade without the acorns and deer crap but it has the nice spongy moss and very sparse grass. Jumping down a hill seems more fun than flat jumping . Seems like they land softer except I get the occasional front end snack if I tap the brakes too hard . Usually they just land nice though without much of anything .
What's up, dude! Sounds like an awesome morning bash session! That new spot sounds ideal-hills, shade, and no acorn bombs... well, except for the poor cars parked nearby 😂. I totally agree, jumping downhill definitely seems to give those landings a softer touch, unless, of course, you hit the brakes mid-air and give the front end a snack! Been there, done that 🤣. Spongy moss and sparse grass make for a sweet setup, though-gotta love finding a perfect spot like that. What cars were you running?
2 awesome RCs! I own both and couldn't be happier with them. I'm running a 14T on the Notorious 6s and a metal center diff. Other than that, it's stock. And on my Asuga 6s XLR I'm running bigger tires so I dropped the pinion down to an 11T Tekno. Still an absolute beast! Enjoy 🤙👍😎
This is not the same truck that I started off with buddy But if you look at my playlists there is plenty of information on upgrading yours to 4s Basically changed the diffs , motor and esc and drive shafts
Ok I seen your videos I seen you have a 3s big rock I seen you change the motor to a 24 KV that's why I was asking you what else you needed to do I'm pretty sure you have to change the drive shafts and everything else that was just making sure that I have the same truck and I want to put it input I'm probably going to put a BLX 120 and just run it like that and upgrade stuff as it breaks I have metal diffs and metal gears
Hi mate, thanks for making these vids. I bought a big rock a few months ago and they've been really useful. Around 6:40 you mentioned about adding some gyro, what did you mean by this? I didn't think the big rock had one... Thanks again, cheers from mid Wales 🏴
Hey man , Well im using my own handset and receiver in the truck . Im using the Radiolink RC8x and RF6mg receiver . the receiver has a gyro in it that helps with stability , its something i use on most of my trucks . Stay awesome Chris :)
