Thank yo so much for this collection of images! My father was born and raised in Port Arthur well over a hundred years ago. It is wonderful to be able to get idea of what his hometown looked like. Again, great thanks!
My mom was from Corner Brook. I think she was born at that hospital @2:26. Never seen a picture of where my mom was born before, wow! Thanks for sharing. My mom would have loved these photos.
Windsor turned into a poop shoot. People kept voting for a man that said do you want to go back to the 1980s. We now have higher taxes, crime, tons more homeless,HUNDREDS of people living in hotels, that will be given tiny homes before homeless.
How absolutely stunning. Thanks so much for this. I was born in Daytona, Halifax hospital 1960, back when it was that size. A lot of these are still recognizable, but most we wish were still there.
Everything was so beautiful back then you could walk in the gardens and not be afraid or go anywhere and now it's all condos and apartments what's happening to our beautiful Halifax Nova Scotia God bless us all
Absolutely wonderful, thank you so much for putting this together. I am amazed at the collection of old Nanaimo photo's you were able to put together. I am 72 years old, born and raised in Nanaimo and still living there and loving it. Thank you again 🙏🙏🙏
The old photos are stunningly beautiful in themselves. These buildings have survived and are now encircled by magnificent modern structures. Considering Halifax experienced the 1917 explosion she has retained much of her former beauty and glory. Modern Halifax has done well growing in a way that does not forget the past. I absolutely love the central library! Now she needs an Aquarium, better recreational and sports facilities, a new art gallery, and an Opera House that would serve/support many musical expressions. Halifax needs a new era of public buildings to complement these pictures and beautiful new highrises. 🙂
Paul, my Uncle, Alfred Bryan(b. Brantford, 1871) lived here for a time before he left for Chicago, over a hundred years ago. Would you happen to know which street his house was on(he was a very famous songwriter/lyricist back in the day). I would love to do some more research on him.
Sorry, I do not have the answer. I wish i could help you. I know he left Brantford and went to school in London, Ontario before moving to the U.S.A. Not much information about his early Canadian years available. "Come, Josephine in My Flying Machine" a classic. The archives in Brantford or London may have that information tucked away, just waiting for you. all the best to you on your journey ..
4:50 S.S. Noronic was a passenger ship built in 1913 in Port Arthur. In Sept.1949 it caught fire while docked in Toronto Harbour with the loss of 119 passengers lives.
What an impressive collection of pictures of Cornerbrook. Thank you for taking the time to compile all of these images and sharing them with us. I also want to mention that my great grandfather from Glasgow Scotland was one of the many men who were instrumental establishing the papermill there. He worked as an estimator in town Superintendent from 1923 to 1927.
I'm glad you enjoyed it..I loved hearing about your personal connections ...Your grandfather was definitively a hard worker ...Thanks again for watching...all the best
