The manufacturer clearly doesn’t want you to pry these apart. I’ve done 3 of these and 2 easily break when you attempt to pry apart. I recommend just buying a motor for $29 to save you the grief.
All steps in this video were “right on”. I can confirm that this works on a 2014 CX-9. Bought a complete gear set and a small bag of white panel clips off amazon both for less than $20 in June of 2023. Gear assembly housing was a bit tight to open, but inserted a scraper blade into the housing seam and worked around all the cover till it released. Couple tips learned. Before starting I lowered the glass about 6 inches from the top/closed position, then used a couple strips of blue painters tape from outside the glass, over top of door to inside of glass to hold glass assembly up in case it wanted to fall once motor assembly was removed. On reinstall of the repaired motor, the motor wouldn’t align with window lift assembly. I had my wife slowly pull up on the glass till motor gear assembly meshed properly and flush. I also had to remove the door speaker to get my hand to the back side of the glass assembly to provide the backing necessary to align repaired motor to the glass door lift mechanism screws until the 3 motor screws are retightened. All in all .. about a 20min job from start to finish. Don’t forget to reset your window “auto down” “auto up” limits. In the fully down position, continue depressing the down switch for another 5-8 seconds after window stops. Then raise window to fully up position and repeat same depress up button for another 5-8 seconds beyond window stop. You may have to repeat this sequence a few times until the window auto raise/lower feature is reactivated. All is perfect and works as new, thanks for this great video!

I cannot express enough how much I appreciate this video, first off the quality is first rate and the instructional parts were great. Easy to understand and follow along. I wish everyone who is going to post a how-to video will follow this man's example, we would have fewer idiotic videos posted and a waste of bandwidth and cloud space.
Well done. Not that it’s important, but has anyone figured out how to open the assembly without breaking the tabs? I’ve done this on multiple motors, and the tabs always break. They do seem kind of superfluous.
sorry, but if the motor is 10+ years old then it wont pry open that easily. Mine snapped into pieces. I was able to do it some years ago on my other door but now the motor plastic is too brittle to open that easily for this new door.
This helped. I did both windows in about an hour. Be extra careful if you're changing out the gear. Prying open the motor is tricky. You can easily break the ends off where the motor screws to the door.
@@TheHurlba because the car is probably very old. Same thing happened to me. Even though I did the same thing 4 years ago on the other door without any problems
I have a question. The window goes down from passenger control switch but does not work from driver switch to control the passenger window. Which of the gear do I need to change. Passenger side or driver side ?
