@@AlfJDale Takk. Subbing i oppstarten sier du. Da er det nok mer sannsynlig at det er spindle rubber som er dårlig, hvis du kommer så langt at du får trykket på play med en disc inni. Spindle rubber på disse, er tørre som krutt nå etter 30år. Loading beltet er også deformert og gummi hard etter så mange år. Så hvis det er subbing når du trykker på power uten disc inni, så er det loading belt. Hello Magnus, I hope all is well with you. I wish you could advise me on repair the loading part of HLD-x9. I bought a used one and the tray is broken. After I repaired the tray, it keeps damage it. I think the load gear having timing issue. I can see there is arrow on the two cam gears. How can I set it? Please please please help.

I'm going to try to fix a Sony LD player by replacing the laser pickup. Do you think it's possible to calibrate it manually, without a calibration disk?
@@WinrichNaujoks It is possible to adjust blindly and get it to play, but hitting 100% on spec is questionable. It also assumes that the fault was in the laser to begin with.

I hope you're still active on here, as I have an R7G that's giving me fits. The tray will recess, at which point I'll hear what sounds like a motor whining. It'll do that for a few seconds, then eject the tray. I've tried both LDs and CDs. There is NO movement of the spindle during all this. Any ideas? It would be a crime to just junk it, as I have no idea if anyone stateside would even touch such a device in 2024.
@@Magnus.Skovrand I try to stay away from eBay nowadays. Too many bad buyers and eBay will side with them before they'll take pity on a seller. It looks to have something to do with the white cog that sits deep in the machine that's a little forward of the spindle. It doesn't turn to rise the cage. I can manually turn it halfway, but I feel like I'll break something else if I force it any further. I don't dare take the machine apart to that extent, as I'll never be able to reassemble it.

@@Magnus.Skovrand No, I don't think it's profitable. If possible, use your advice and experience. I have basic test and measurement equipment. Some experience and knowledge. But there is no experience specifically with LD devices. They have not found popularity in my country, so I don’t know any experienced technicians either.

I am drowning in inquiries regarding free diagnostics and inquiries to send in for repair. Then the choice is easy. 7:38 I have the same power supply for my laser disc player, but my power supply has some sort of dead short. Every time I replace the fuse it blows, even if I disconnected the whole board and had it outside of the machine it would still blow, so I wound up replacing the board because I didn’t have the proper equipment to test the board. What would cause a dead short in it?
Hard to answer without having that power supply on my bench for measurements. There can be many reasons for that. The most common cause on this psu that is in the video is the arc suppressor 14:00

I have a Philips CDV400 where I changed the pickup optical and now it read the CD but only spins the laserdisc. I checked the voltage outputs by power supply and they are at the right level. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Happy you got the old gal singing again! So, recap the PSU, swap out the loading belt, clean and re-lubricate, swap the M-holder. Adjust servo tracking and presto? 🎉
Not all is shown in this video. I tested it after replacing capacitors and it would spin up and then loose focus and stop. Cleaned the lens and it would play, but not perfect. Did a full calibration mechanical and electronical. All adjustment points where more or less off spec. Now it runs better than ever.

Dear Magnus Skovend, thank you for returning and responding to help me with the problem with my Pioneer CLD-D503, I am very grateful for your attention. I saw your answer. I forgot to mention that I tried using two new lenses (model: VWT-1100), original from Pioneer, and the problem was the same. It says “No Disc” and sometimes it even tries to read the LD or audio CD by starting to spin them, but it can't read the discs. I also forgot to mention that, in all optical units, there is a noise, like a small click, as if the lens was touching, in the movement of the optical body, the LD disk. Regarding your tips, regarding the Service mode and the calibration of the LD Player CLD-D503, I didn't make any of these suggestions, but when it comes to recapping the power board, I don't know if you agree with me, I think it would be the first solution , because before this defect the device worked perfectly and with a new optical drive, reading all types of LD and audio CD media. If the friend agrees with me, considering what I explained above, I think I could review the power card and test if it can read the media again. OK? This is based on what happened with your video, okay? I know this, but I have a problem, I don't have an LD gig test disk nor your Tektronix 2465B oscilloscope model, in my country, Brazil, Rio de Janeiro city ,it is difficult to get such instruments for calibrating these devices, due to they (LD Players) are old devices and both the oscilloscope and the gig test disk for LD are rare to obtain, would there be any way to calibrate without these devices? If you could give me some tips, I would appreciate it again. About putting new capacitors on the power board, what do you think, would it be feasible I to do the same? I can send you a video of the device working to get an idea of how it is operating n ow with the defect, ok? If you think it's feasible for you to send you a video of the CLD-D503 operating now, OK, I can send it o you,OK? Please confirm me OK? HI Magnus, I recently changed the grip ring and the band, but the problem i have is that the tray gets stuck when you press eject. Sometimes also when you press for the disc to load it does the same whirring noise. Usually i have to either wait for the tray to eject by itself or i sometimes pull the tray when it gets stuck. What could be a probable fix?
