Tbh, i thought 1924 would've ran like 14 or 15 seconds but nah not even. Meaning that 1924 champ would smoke today's one if they had all that advancement
That’s amazing, I respect it a lot but I just wanted to ask a question? When he says that they take more impact then any other sport, i think tricking has way more impact on one leg due to swings etc
Incidentally women are now as fast as men were 100 years ago (if we ignore differences in gear and track). Of the seven running distances on three women were faster in 2024 than men in 1924. On four men were faster and the differences were max 1.2%. Of course with equal gear and tracks the men would win always.
I guess I've pretty much seen it all. I trained at the same time as Bruce Jenner (1976 Olympics) on the same track. I competed against Bob Richards and Boo Morcom in decathlons. They were in the 1948 Olympics. On through Georg Werthner 1980, John Crist 1984, Tim Bright 1988 and Dave Johnson 1992. I must be one stubborn SOB because I beat most of them in one or two events but got slaughtered in others and cumulatively. Since then, as an old man, I've officiated Ashton Eaton 2012-6, Damien Warner 2020 and Lindon Victor 2024.
Sorry to break all of yours old tome dreams but actually 1 second difference is a night & day difference i dont think we are going to shave off 1 more second in the next 30 years or so even with so much advance in technique maybe not without bio engineered devices .
