Years before Americana music earned its own category at the Grammy Awards, Steve Forbert pioneered the genre's mix of folk, roots-rock, and richly delivered storytelling. He's been a torchbearer of that sound for more than four decades, navigating the twists and turns of an acclaimed career that's taken him from gold records to Grammy nominations.
Steve Forbert is releasing his 21st studio record "Daylight Savings Time" on August 16, 2024 on the Blue Rose Music label. Produced by Steve Greenwell in Asbury Park, it features contributions from Aaron Comess, Byron House, Gurf Morlix, and Rob Clores.
The ten tracks on "Daylight Savings Time" showcase Forbert's keen observations on growing older in America, while still looking forward to tomorrow. 45 years after inviting us to meet him in the middle of the day, his lyrics and melodies continue to resonate with legions of loyal fans.
A member of the Mississippi Music Hall of Fame, Forbert is now an elder statesman of Americana music.
Love and have always loved Steve's voice since first hearing him in 1978. Sounds as good now as he did back then - a true and pure talent. Long may you run Little Stevie Orbit. Much love from Ireland.❤
Just WOW. You should name a record/song something about boot/foot stomping...watching this and you and the lovely lady each doing the dance was fascinating to say the least and my feet were tapping too. Gotta admit tho, I'm with her, my feet like to be naked, even in the dead of winter. While the music is a phenomenon in itself, there is truly something to be said for stage presence.
I saw Steve at the Berkeley Performing Arts Center with my good friend Lloyd in Boston in 1980 on the same night that the USA hockey team beat the Soviet Union in Lake Placid. Will never forget it.
There are so many of Steve songs that give you a warm feeling. And I don't know about other people are there songs out there where you listen to and you like them. But you never pay attention to half of the lyrics. There's nothing wrong with that as long as you're enjoying the song. But when I'm getting at especially with Summer Steve's newer releases I find myself focused on his lyrics.
@@kerrielynnrobinson8852 well first off Steve is a storyteller. A lot of times Steve tells stories about his own encounters. So I'll assume that this is some memories of people and places in his life. Most likely family. The sugar plum is a symbol of something sweet. I believe also referred to as good sugar. So the sugar plum fairy in some cases have been embodied as a symbol of joy, kindness and compassion. So what I'm gathering is that Steve it's going down memory lane of precious times in his life or singing about what we all do as we get older. I could be wrong but when I listen to Steve sing this song (and this is an awesome version) this is the effect it has on me.
@@kerrielynnrobinson8852 I recall John Lennon singing sugar plum fairy , sugar plum fairy just before he begins sing A Day in the life on The Beatles Anthology 3 . This may be in some way a nod to the Beatles or to John specifically? Just guessing .
Saw Steve play live in London not long after the release of "Alive on Arrival". Great gig from a great artist. This video brings back so many memories of happier times.
Just watched it all - thanks so much for posting! Hoping to get out in the big world and see a show in person. Fingers crossed, prayers up and pennies in the piggy bank.
You may want to change your shoes. The Google artificial intelligence indicated the crepe-sole shoes are made of latex, and I have read that the bottoms of the feet have many, many pores and readily absorb chemicals. The following is what that AI wrote: Material: Crepe soles are made from coagulated latex that's rolled into crinkled sheets. The latex comes from the sap of the Hevea tree, which grows in tropical rain forests. Comfort: Crepe soles are soft, flexible, and lightweight, and they provide shock absorption and good traction. Care: To extend the life of crepe soles, avoid exposing them to high temperatures, such as on a radiator or in direct sunlight in a hot car. The rubber can melt. Kerrie, September 30, 2024
Been a fan since Alive on arrival in 78 . Met him once at a gig in Poughkeepsie New York . He signed his name for me and wrote “ best good luck and all “ . You’ll recognize the lyrics from going down to Laurel .
Last week I had to take the mustang out and put the top down cranking out Romeo's tune while my son and I were sing-along and we had to stop add a red light in schoharie New York. There are a couple ladies in the corner started singing along.
