Excellent insights Venus! Totally agree that film festivals are extremely valuable. The learning is great but the relationships are priceless. I met the person who heads up a talent agency - who now represents me - at a networking event at a film festival. Actors should always go to broaden their skillset around filmmaking, but primarily to build relationships with other actors, directors, producers, and agents.
@PersonalPowerhouse
@PersonalPowerhouse 8 дней назад
Absolutely! There have been so many benefits to attending them. There's always a new friend that comes out of it - and lots of opportunities! Glad you found an agent through one!

Thank you for this. I really need to attend more of these but have not gotten much out of the secular film festivals that I've been to so I've not been super excited about going to any, as a result. I also struggle with networking because I'm so awkward and weird around new people so that's been another hindrance. If budget only allows for a couple (or even just one) a year, which would you recommend?
@PersonalPowerhouse
@PersonalPowerhouse Месяц назад
I hiiiighy recommend Content Film Festival in Poolville, TX (near Dallas at Capernaum Studios) to get started in Christian film festivals. The activities, the workshops, the people - it's such a welcoming place. I've seen many other 'awkward' folks attend, and by the end of it, they're so comfortable because of the kindness of everyone there. Tips for Content: there's a lot of walking because it's on a studio lot, so take comfortable shoes. There aren't any restaurants or hotels nearby, so consider finding a roommate and potential rideshares (there are Facebook groups for this), and also keep food in a cooler in your car if you don't plan on buying the meals that the festival offers. Let me know if you have other questions!

It seems like the "teeth" in the jaws of the gripper would tear the sheet before long. Has that been a problem?
@PersonalPowerhouse
@PersonalPowerhouse 3 месяца назад
I was concerned about that when I first bought them, too, but nope! I had no problems with them on any of the sheets I used 😊

Or pop the candle in the freezer for about 10 min and the wax will pop out and baby wipes clean the soot really good
@Trishagram
@Trishagram 5 месяцев назад
I could not believe the black on the top of your candle jar. That comes from not trimming wicks properly and all of that is going into the air in your home. I am absolutely not trying to be ugly. It’s just a fact I also did the same with the boiling water, but I have no black on the top, if I did, I would clean that off first because that is getting in the wax that you want to keep to use in your wax warmer. I let mine sit until the water is barely warm. Then I sit in the refrigerator to finish cooling which takes just a short while and then I get that block of wax out and cut it up to use later. I really enjoy the Woodwick candles, medium size and they make wonderful glasses for drinking. Another method is put in the freezer and let the wax get hard and then just stick a knife and crack it and it comes right out. Thanks so much for the tip.

It is important to use mild/gentle drying for minimal heat to avoid damaging the shoe adhesive chemical components. Thanks for the hack.

Your method definitely gets the job done but I have an even QUICKER, CONVENIENT & HASSLE FREE way of removing wax from their jars: 😉❤️ 1st step: REMOVE JAR COVER AND PLACE IN FREEZER FOR A COUPLE HOURS DEPENDING ON THE JAR SIZE. 2nd step: REMOVE JAR FROM FREEZER AND ALL OF THE WAX WILL POP RIGHT OUT AFTER GENTLY BANGING JAR AGAINST THE PALM OF YOUR HAND! *It's as easy as that!! When the wax pops out, all that remains is a clean, crisp jar without even having to wash it!! You should try it! You'll DEFINITELY thank me later LOL!*

I have been digging these candles out of the trash. And my Sweetheart spends about 60 bucks on candles every month. Which is fine but they clog up the trash. I have about six jars here right now. I'm thinking get the jar warm before I put hot water in.

What settings do you use?
@PersonalPowerhouse
@PersonalPowerhouse Год назад
You could do any heat depending on what type of material they are. If we need them dried quickly, we do a medium or high heat but we keep an eye on them - depending on the material. If we have more time, we do low or medium heat so the temp doesn't scorch or shrink them. If it's nice and sunny out, and we don't need them any time soon, we put 'em in the sunshine. :)

I had no problems getting the wick holder out. If it does not come out with my hand have these metal skewers or butter knife that I stick down in the jar and loosen it that way.

I put mine in the oven at 200 for like 5 minutes. Then pull them out (with a towel/mitt, wipe out the excess wax with a paper towel, and then use dawn to get the last of the wax film.
