an idol shouldnt have too many duties if performing is their main duty then i wouldnt worry abt fan service. its like expecting them to always be switched on and happy. why do idols do aegyo if they dont like it? fans make them. some idols just want to perform for the sake or interest of performing cut them some slack at least pls lol hes doing enough not every group member has to always be online or doing cute things for fans lmao. i love lee know cause hes real and keeps himself to himself doesnt sell his image to the fans

@@Hwachopss same here, fancalls are hella weird cause u arent genuinely building a personal nor direct i suppose the one pkus of fancalls if is say the idol maybe has not much confidence in themselves it means they can receive compliments and whatever else but i still feel bad for them having to do that bc its an other thing that they could be spent resting or taking time for themselves. kpop is so much about having that parasocial relationship than it is about the enjoyment of the idols music.

I’m not sure how it ends up that way, but it feels like the genuine, positive interactions get pushed aside by those who aren't considerate. It’s confusing and frustrating because you’d think the goal would be to have everyone feel at ease and enjoy the experience, but instead, it’s the opposite. We really need to find a way to create a better space for everyone involved.
@@Hwachopss fr its so bizzare like of all the things they could say or do they choose to overact and be hella cringe, I mean its one way to make themselves memorable but I dont think its the best way to get the attention nor respect from the idol in question. same for things like going to airports, following them at their hotels etc etc. it usually seems to be generally limited and the samey experiences dont differ much except for the odd times where an idol is actually complimented for something other than their looks or body. and maybe a space where it doesnt take up so much time of their day either, I actually lrefer the vlives as they tend to chat longer on there but even so its all subscription nowadays? I want to somehow support them without too much extra cost and at times I often feel like it doesnt take much for the comment sections to get hella freaky / gross / uncomfortable or oddly jealous as I have seen for some idols vlives.

What I've noticed with twice's title tracks is that they rely too heavily on the 80s sound when trying to do a more mature concept despite the 80s wave in both kpop and American music dying out a few years ago. And this maybe an unpopular opinion but I think that Gfriend had a better transition into doing mature concepts than Twice, which may have been due to the fact their title tracks earlier in their career centered on their image as school girls until they eventually started tackling themes like the lost school friendships during adulthood later on. Overall, Gfriend's creative direction made it feel like we were growing up with the members.
THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING EXO. Almost all of Kpop-related channels deliberately exclude them. SM's mistreatment of EXO is borderline criminal - from their 10-year slave contract to the little to ZERO promotions to the actual SABOTAGE of comebacks. EXO could've been the biggest, most popular KPOP group and they DESERVE it with their immense talent, hard work and dedication, but their own agency has, time and time again, kept them down.

It's frustrating to see them being held back by their own agency. As an EXO fan, it really sucks to see them not getting the support and promotion they deserve.
As a casual listener, I feel like the last time passion was clearly put into the creative direction of an EXO group comeback was Obsession era. SM is lucky that EXO are talented enough to pull off any song that they've chucked at them afterwards.
@@Reve-to-the-V I totally agree with you. The "Obsession" era really felt like a turning point where you could ACTUALLY sense the passion in the creative direction. Since then, it really does seem like SM has been relying more on EXO's immense talent to carry through. The group manages to make any song work, but that spark from "Obsession" is definitely something special that might not happen again.

Great video. I still find that the entire group has inconsistent stage presence, they often look like they’re focused more on the choreo than performing. I just feel like nowadays, K-pop is more focused on perfection than authenticity (even though K-pop has never been authentic). I don’t agree with your Ningning opinion, she’s often the one along with Karina who have pretty consistent stage presence. What you said about Ningning can all apply to every single member of the group. Winter does have a pretty piercing voice that doesn’t really translate emotions well.
i think baby monster is a very good group not just because of their songs lyrically but their vocals, rap, and dance (their dances may seem a bit “boring” but i like them!). the babymonster hate must end!

I totally feel you on the “You wanna be Asian” Topic. I wasn’t a big anime fan until 2016 (My Freshman Year in High School), and then and even now it’s really on MHA that I like the most, still trying to broaden my horizons. I’m 2019 is when I got into Kpop and I loved the music so much that I began studying the language so I could understand why I was listening to. Any language learner knows that when studying a language you must study the culture so you know why,where,when to say things. So through studying the culture I found that I actually love the people and I do want my wife to be Korean. My family always says that I’m trying to be Asian 🙄, and it’s actually very annoying; other ppl make it seem like I have a fetish, and you can see that my story has nothing to do with fetishization, but everything to do with respect and wonder. At the moment ppl think that it’s cool that I speak Korean so well, and the ppl on my generation are a lil more understanding on where I’m coming from when I say I’m attracted to Korean Women; I can’t lie and say they looks aren’t a art of my attraction, like duh it is😂😂, but I actually found a few similarities in Korean Culture and History that are like My African American Culture, and I find it so cool
I agree and disagree with you on your first opinion. Yes a lot of blinks who feel threatened by baby monsters existence do hate on sheesh just because it’s from baby monster. However the song it’s is not good. First because the song is not a vocal heavy song and baby monsters mainly talent as a group is vocals so it would be good for them to get a song that suits their talents. Second the chorus was extremely disappointing knowing that the pre chorus was amazing and had many fans hyped up for the rest of the song just to be left with a barely thought out chant chorus, and the other parts of the song were decent (excluding the pre chorus because it was amazing) and weren’t good enough to save that song from that terrible chorus. Third the song was clearly a black pink styled song, I mean of course black pink doesn’t own the girl crush concept but when I played the song I just kept hearing a black pink song (I forgot which song) but a lot of fans would like yg to give baby monster their own identity and not try to keep them riding on the fame of black pink which happened in sheesh (also this is not the girls fault it is 💯 yg’s fault).

While on the other hand, I don't think repeating a concept is bad persay. I believe it's all about who can pull it off the best, and trust me, if competition didn't exist, Kpop wouldn't be as it is now.

The point you made about liking anime and K-pop is so true. I remember when I was in middle school we used to get made fun of for liking anime and now since I listen to K-pop people think I’m weird. But just like jhope said music transcends language.
I know KPOP vs western music is a whole separate conversation from what about I'm about say, but I feel the same about when people are all dance pop vs ballads in music conversations. Like, I get it if slower music isn't your thing, but I've heard too many people say that ballads suck just because they're "slow, sappy, sad, the singers are always whining about break ups and BLAH BLAH BLAH!" I sit there listening to this, and I'm wondering if these people have actually listened to ballads in full before because there are so many story genres in ballads that to generalize them as sad break up music is actually hilarious to me. Are there ballads that are bad out there? YES! Of course there are! There's bad versions of literally every music concept and genre. But the excuse I hear for the dance pop stans about the music being happier and more powerful doesn't make sense to me either because lately in the lyric sphere of dance music, a lot of it is about being drowned by drugs and alcohol and just flat out being miserable. Not only that, a lot of dance songs have weak beats that'll force me to sit out until something good like Yeah or Gangnam Style comes on. In short, thank you for bringing the Kpop only listeners conversation to this because I 110% agree that these people need to touch grass sometimes. By the way, the whole conversation of Lisa being added to the best rappers of all time thing will always make me die a few inches inside my soul.

Exactly! I don't hate blackpink as people but I do feel like they would be better off disbanded or having solo careers.
