Just an average guy into 4x4s and overland travel. Got inspired from a young age Overlanding and touring with my dad in his 4x4s. Check out some of my tips, tricks and cool rigs! See ya there 👍
I just bought this tent so interesting to see how it assembles. Trying to mount it is a challenge at the moment prefer a tub rack but will use existing pro rack initially, rated at 75kg
Something to remember with a clam shell is they take up your whole roof. They also have no shelter underneath, nore a decent 'Porch' as you say. Also there is heaps of room inside this tent which most if not all clam shells can't compete with. I currently have this tent and I'm considering a hard shell but the reasons above are why I'm hesitate, however set up and pack up of the hard-shell if definitely the most appealing part..
Hey Cliff, besides these little cons of the set up time. Have you experienced any issues? With quality or design issues? A lot of mixed reviews on this
@@rylanr8783 hi Ryan. I think the canvas is excellent. I have been in crazy wet windy weather on the beach and the tent was fantastic. A few of the fixing over time need to be kept an eye on, eg. The ladder screws and bolts can loosen with alot of use. The biggest thing is probably keeping an eye on the tent cover bag. Make sure it doesn't deteriorate ( I'm talking 5 years in the weather here) as it can get the floor wet and it warp. All in all they really are very good for the money and if you keep up the maintenance on them and maybe upgrade a few fixing overtime. Really they are pretty good👍.
Thanks for your comment I tour and I know it worked a treat! Also I think some of the tour vehicle builders are even building it as a kit to buy. Thanks for your view and comment!
This is fuckin' genius. I wish I could do this to my little Jimny but I'm afraid it's simply not wide enough and the side windows have a weird shape too.
Hi there sorry you feel that way what was it you thought you may have missed apart from of course screwing the bolts back in? Let me know I’ll explain it. It’s a very straight forward job and not much to know apart from the prime technique. Anyway thanks for watching All the best Al
I can’t see that being true at all, that means every one with a phone who wants to film for their Instagram,RU-vid et etc needs written permission?? Maybe in 1950 when that ship was made! I have been all over and never had anything like it happen at all.
With the ladder Simon you can drill two more holes to allow the ladder to lower even further. Just be sure to zinc or fishoil spray it for rust prevention.
Not sure I'd do that. Remember they need t9 have a certain amount of overlap so the ladder doesn't fold.. the ladder extends a pretty long way already..
Should have tested before final weld out then you wouldn’t have needed to add that extra weight. And lift with your legs not your back. But nice to see a land decked
Alex, did the sides of the basket roof rack originally go all the way along the sides to the back? I have a basket roof rack with no rail across the back, so thinking if I angle grind the raised side bar off one side of the rack I should be able to fit one of these on top. Cheers mate
Does this help with the seating position being so close to the rhs pillar. I nearly bought a defender but the driving position was the worst of any car over ever driven. Are all defenders like that it was a 2007
Hi mate not really it does a bit but still You will see most defender drivers with window down arm out during winter too! Cheers for your comment and the watch! 👍
Wow, an new imported 70 series in the UK! I have a 70 Prado from 1991 so it's lovely to see another UK 70. Love the colour, do you know the paint code?
Hi mate I’m not being too critical I’m just showing you the potential points of failure in the long run. It’s a good tent for a low end product and would defo get you out on the trails but I’m afraid you would end up shelling out after multiple uses on a more quality built model from another brand. Cheers for watching 👍
I think Terrain Tamer is a great alternative to gen and it’s basically as good for a bit of a saving. I wouldn’t use cheaper parts of any other companies tho! Cheers for watching 👍
Great idea, you are smart, but if the window was a better glass to be able to clearly see the safety, but you have good ideas, please continue. I am a lot interested in modification of this kind, thank you
Hi there, just want to find out what product you used on your chassis. Also did you coat inside the chassis if so again what product? Also got a Defender 90 TD5
It's been really interesting watching these videos. I've a defender 110, and have been considering switching to the land cruiser. Would really appreciate your views on a comparison between the two.
