@JakeMonteith I myself have never had any issues with slipping after changing fluid and filters. I have been doing transmission services on old transmissions in my rigs since the mid 90s
Thanks for the reply. I'm in the same boat running wise with the lean burn. I have the Holly 2 barrel carburetor. I'll have to find the correct vacuum but hoping for similar results.
@@lelandarledge2873 on your carb, the vacuum port you want to use is the one that is higher than the base plate. The lower one is intake vacuum, while the other is the ported.
Do you have advice on how you found the spares. I have not had any luck except at 130 each. Just wondering how you went about it or if thats the going cost. thanks
Did you check for the correct spring orientation and torque settings on the 2 top strut mount nuts?? Excessive strut nut torque setting can create undue pressure on the strut bearings
@dakotamccoig4438 being a 4 wheel drive, yours will have a different setup. I have a Playlist named Big Blue, where I did a 4x4 for a friend of mine. Can check that build out for a cool 4x4 build.
if you dont lower it with a proper lowering kit you end up pushing all the joints and geometry to their max at stance versus having that normal percentage of up and down travel your alwals maxed out and just destroying all that... there are companies that take and keep your natural geometry and travel by extending the lowering kit.. they cost more sure but ride better and last better.
I would normally agree with you. But..... there is no lowing kit for these trucks. Whe you lower these truck with van lower control arms your not stressing anything on the front as the van lower control arms actually move the spring down into a pocket 2 inches lower than the truck ones. All the ball joints and such for the most part all stay the same. Thanks for checking out the video.
@romuluscreative I mean yea if you wanna spend 1500 plus bucks for a complete front end swap sure. But there is no company that make drop springs, drop spindles, etc. You can use dakota parts, but again, it is more costly then the way I did it.
Great informative video bro. Dude I noticed on my battery my ground cable goes to my frame but it also has some ground wire going down to what looks like under my engine somewhere!??! do you know why that would be? Bro come to Norman or I need to come seek you out lol. Also my wiring looks like something else. Have a good weekend, laters man.
Well, you should have the big one to the block, then one right off the battery that is normally attached to the core support or anywhere on the chassis. Then you should have one from the motor to the cab. There will be more beyond that for various things. Might meet up some day you never know.
The short list would be the both lower control arms from a 80s B100 or B150 for the front. and any 3 inch axle tube perches. I would recomend the weld in style. With that you can get around 4 inch drop in front and 6 in the rear. You can also snag a set of 2inch drop shackles from any parts house and you can get another 2 inch in the rear, but that will require air shocks or a C-Notch done as the axle will hit the frame.
@n8rm rock auto or amazon work fine. Think I got my LCA from amazon and I snagged my axle perches from speedway motors. You will also need new U-bolts.
@@twiztedwrenchgarage thank you. I was trying to find hub centric spacers (no luck)but looking at my wheel I have now they don’t even touch the center bore. Also you make killer videos bro.👍🏽💯
Dylan I got a question for you. I was gonna replace my spark plugs on my 86 Dodge Ram with a 225 Slant 6, but I noticed that I can’t get my socket down on it to remove any of them. It seems the like the Valve cover case is in the way just barely. Dude do I have to remove the valve cover to take out the spark plugs?! That seems nuts. I’m not familiar with these old inline 6 engines. Halp bro! lol
@n8rm It's fine bud. The tube is only held in with the plug. It has a seal at the top I believe. Whatever socket you can get in there should pull the whole setup out.
Having an issue with the 904 on my 86 Ram. When shifting from reverse to drive and viceversa, it slams hard. When shift from drive to park or neutral and back to drive, not so much. What do you think?
Well, what your describing can be caused by the torque converter, but again, I'm no pro. The 727 and 904 from my understanding are very similar. From what I hear the 727 is just beefier. Does it make any clanking when switching from rev to drive etc? Any slipping in gears? How's the fluid look? Last service?
It does do that hard shift from rev to drive. No slipping gears. Added fresh fluid 4-5 years ago. Ran for about a year. Has been parked since. Checked converter bolts. All tight. Trying to get it street worthy. It's a 72 model. Have an 85 trans which I might install.
Same vehicle, same issue. Runs smoothly while accelerating but vibrates when coasting. I see this job in my future so good to watch it being done. Familiarization. I think I would do the final tightening on the bushings when the vehicle is back on the floor so that it is in the normal resting position.
@user-hs4vf8mx4x yea that's the same size as mine. I don't full turn in mine. These trucks are bad about cracking the frame at the steering box. I have heard full turning increases the chance at that happening.
Yes, I would verify what size Amp mega fuse needed for your application but I'm pretty sure mine is the 60 Amp as well. They only did the 100 Amp in the bigger trucks I think.
@@twiztedwrenchgarage I just need to know what size fuse I need to do this. I recently put a new alternator and vr in and the 40 inline fuse I had for the alternator that was working for a few months now blows every time I start the truck
If you ever replaced the plastic bushings on these they are a complete pain in the you know what ! The ones you get off ebay are hard as concrete and have to be pressed on oem bushings are not hard plastic
I'm glad I found you man! I tell anyone who is interested in these old Dodge trucks about your channel man. I replaced the old Radiator and upper and lower hoses. Now my truck has been sitting up at my local Mechanics shop waiting to get the Carb re-built. I go up there and work on her when I get a chance. Like replace the old Headlight bezzles and I had to order a new grill so I got that replaced. I wish we could hook up man, so you can see my girl. Peace bro. Nate
So I test drove the truck for like a block or so after flip kit no issues … now my rear end u joints that are brand new just fell out and the bolts were tightened and now it’s all welded 😢…. So the original u joint fell out so I thought maybe it’s the wrong size since the truck came in pieces … what experiences have u had with wrong pinion angle ? Or wrong u joints cause I’m in a pickle lol and the side welded the shit out of the stuff
Dang. It is possible you had the wrong U-joints. I think the 727 and 904 use differnt ones. But its based on your outside diameter yoke span. Wrong Pinion angle can cause vibrations and binding in the driveshaft which could damage to the transmisson and rear diff.
lol what spring perch did u use … the part that goes between leaf spring and the axle. So I used a new spring perch and used the middle hole and then the drive shaft was too long and couldn’t bolt it up … pull it all back apart put it in the fwd hole and got the driveshaft bolted up and a mile down the road drive shaft fell out lol and new u joints and required it… so which one and way did u go with thanks
i did mine last year exact same tranny and tcase. took it out a one unit but put it in separately made it much easier putting the tranny first then tcase
Hey quick question …. Does the flip kit actually take away the use of towing anything or loading the bed with stuff… cause I hear that installing drop shackles will get u the same amount lowering but still be able to load the bed jw have you or know someone that has tried it… thanks I’m in okc ok and looking for more truck parts if you know the way to reach the el reno auto shop thanks again
Well, with you will only lower the rear 2 inches. You can still haul stuff with just those but one you do a axle flip that drops the rear 6 inches. So with the flip and shackles you would need to do a c notch to the frame for towing heavy stuff. Light work is fine.
Hey nice dodge truck … quick question what’s the name of that shop that has a lot of dodge trucks in front of it on the way to like Lucky star casino. Also does he sell parts thanks
I’m looking for a radio and the the axles for a 85 and up 8.25 5 Lilia axles so I can run the 2005 dodge steelies cause mines a 84 with 5-5 3/4 lug pattern lol … I got a 84 dodge d150 prospector
@user-hs4vf8mx4x yea that would work to do that. But you get less wheel options on 5x5.5 then you do with your current bolt pattern. You have to run 2 inch spacers with the factory 20 spares anyways so I would just het space adapters to run them instead of trying to change the bolt pattern.
