The outside plates facing left and right are metal, the parts of the chassis in-between that hold the ESC and motor are plastic, but they do make metal replacements.
I have found a smaller brushless motor that should fit, the D2225, 22mm diamter by 25mm long so no need to cut the chassis, but it is not as powerful however, 80W/11A under load as per the specs
Also, from my math (TIL P for pitch is the imperial measure of module), so if stock pinion is 10t 7.2mm, it's 0.6mod or 42p, 32p would skip or be noisy, no?
How is the speed and torque? I plan on using 10t, same as stock (I found a 10t 0.6m pinion on AliEx) for 1:18 reduction with 1400kv motor, I did the math for your setup and you have 1:11 reduction and an output of 600 RPM with 2s whereas 1400kv with 10t will output 570 RPM, so about same speed as your setup, stock I think its about 470RPM (8500 RPM motor?)
what if i keep using external spring? does it change something? or should i just use 2 shocks? 1 normal shock and 1 dropshock? need your response. thank you
I just did the same exact thing to a set of cheap internal spring shocks, the cool thing about these friction shocks you can quickly swap different springs without getting oil everywhere.
