Platee is so interesting because she is a comic character that we come to kind of love. She believes in herself, even though this giant trick is being played on her. The end, where her ego is crushed, is sort of tragic. One hopes she can recover, move on in her own fantasy; but the cruelty is very sharp.
if you want music to touch you, then you should really listen to this. From the moment they start singing, they take you along and you just never want it to stop. Thank you Mozart, but Garsington Opera as well, for sharing this beauty
Bardzo brzydkie! A stewardessy z taką nadwagą nigdy nie dostaną zgody na latanie (PL) Very ugly! And such overweight stewardesses will never be allowed to fly!
Those big blue eyes are just great for this fabulous character. This is such a great Opera: both funny, and a little sad. I wish Samuel Boden and Garsington the greatest of successes!
A very illuminating analysis. Having just re-read James' novella recently, I am rather taken aback by what Britten did with it! But it sounds superb...
in days of "yore". this piece. was often used at graduation at many schools-. the words. are important as to giving advice to young people going out into the world.
