8x42 on the neck all the time and 12x50 glassing deer and elk off the tripod. The problem is the uhd vortex razor needs to be better glass for the money. I just sold my 12x50 for $750 bucks in excellent condition and switched the 12x50 to another brand.
I have a dozen systems and prefer the Work Sharp stuff. Have this and the new version. Just wanted to thank you for showing new stuff like doing a V grind on the BGA instead of a convex. You went into good detail better than most. Much appreciated! My BGA always had an issue with belt tracking but new one doesn’t. I like to keep a V in most kitchen knives so it matches with stones or Precision Adjust Pro I have. It’s nice to get a V on both instead of having to choose which system. I like stones or angle systems for touch ups and the belt for serious sharpening or reshaping. Also does great as a sander for small wood stuff like handles!
Correct me if I missed it, you’re running the Owyhee with just a floor? I’m assuming you’re going to a spot with minimal critters and flying biters and that’s why you’re cutting out the tent insert? Or does the tent alone do a good enough job keeping those out? Thanks and great video!
Thanks! Great question. Up here where we hunt in the fall issues with critters and flying biters are pretty minimal so we typically don't feel the need to carry our inserts with mesh if we're on a backpack hunt where weight is at a super premium.
2:13 flat top stove is key!!! I’ve got a barrel type stove and it’s aweful for trying to heat water on. I like that it’s more compact that the argali stove. But it definitely has some serious negatives!!!
awesome experience and great memories you all shared on this journey , so great your brother and father and great friends could e together , great series hope to see more of them ,congratulations on everyone getting their caribou , nice bulls
You're a much more knowledgeable and experienced hunter than I, but I would test those lapponias on some real terrain with loose dirt before you commit to them for a week. I used them for TAC in Vermont in May and I was slipping everywhere...it's a known issue apparently and very disappointing.
Appreciate the feedback. We'll have to check in with Brad to see how they've been working out for him. He's currently out in the backcountry on an archery elk hunt.
Yes, technically it would be 40 degrees with both secondary bevel angles on both sides of the blade if thatsbwhat youbare asking. For simplicity, we typically lay the face of the blade flat on the platen and then do 20 degrees off of that so there is less math involved.
"i like to try to slip in and not call so much" you guys called like 130 times in this video lol. It's hard to know what to do, I'm the same way. Good video. You'll get'em next time.
How did you like the lapponias? I was trying to decide for an all around good boot I hunt in Louisiana but plan to take elk and mule deer hunting in future. Along with backpacking
It really just depends on the hunt. I'd say it's 50/50 on whether we use them for elk. For water just depends on the heat typically. sometimes they drink once a day, sometimes every few days.
Unless I missed something, I don’t know where you’re hunting, and on behalf of the dudes that live in X Section of X state; I appreciate the hell out of that.
@@Argali as a person who lives in a spot that hasn’t been terribly blown up yet, it breaks my heart a little when I see videos mentioning it and appreciative when folks, like you said, just focus on the hunt, regardless of where. Anywho… had never heard of yall, but the algorithm got me here, and an actual YT reply from a company got me more curious about who yall are, long story short, after pursuing your site, you’ve 100% got a future customer when I’m tent shopping next season. Seems like a perfect product. Just wanted to mention that the engagement goes a long way.
Question Brad If it’s me and my daughter. Will, the rincon work for both of us and gear and stove if we want to bring it or would we be better with the absoroka
@@Argali ok thank you We will be back pack hunting carrying our gear and camp with us on our backs everyday so trying to keep weight down and I didn’t know if the rincon would be enough room for both of us and our gear and stove Not sure about the stove yet but wanted to have the option if we decide to take it
