Halong bay was the highlight of my one month trip to Vietnam. Absolutely breathtaking scenery like I've never seen in my life, absolute silence on the water. We spent 3 nights on a junk boat. 10/10 highly recommended!!!!
I personally found Hoi An to be very touristy and felt like cattle there. I got clothes made in Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh and loved it way more in Ho Chi Minh :)

I frequently hand wash items in the bathtub or storage bins. Use milk crates for very effective but gentle agitation and to help squeeze out the water if hand wringing is not possible. The crates can also be used to keep items submerged during soaking.
Farting more is more a result of your body trying to reach homeostasis to adapt to the higher pressure. This goes away with being used to it, in the same way the head pressure at high altitudes goes away after a while
