Just to clear a couple of points. Zervas was not the Greek army. He was leader of a guerilla armed force that was under british orders at the time. The local Cham population, for a very long time, had worked finely with all enemies of Greece. Why? Not because they were bad people, but because they represented another set of interests. They did not want to be part of Greece. So, they collaborated with Turks in the Balkan wars. They collaborated with fascist Italy fron 1939 onwards and with nazi Germany when Italy surrendered. This "collaboration" means that they killed, pillaged, raped and did not abide by the laws of the Greek government. This was something known to the local Greek populations that in the middle of a war, and under the total absence of a Greek government, since that was in Cairo, could finally have the upper hand in the conflict, in a total gap of law and order.

@Godssecondcomingissoon I have something like a couple of weeks that I am watching everything on RU-vid with what the Albanians call the "genocide of the Chams". Of course, as a Greek, my point of view is such but I am trying to keep an objective point of view. Zervas was not the Greek army. He was taking orders from the Allies and namely the British. The Greek government was exiled in Egypt at the time. Zervas was ordered to evacuate the area by German and allied forces. It is a given that the Chams had worked along with the Germans as oppressive occupiers of the area. Namely, the Dino family, who were somehow the "leaders" of the Cham community. That includes loads of incidents as the ones mentioned in the beginning of the film, but from the other side. Executions, rapes etc by the Cham militia against the Greeks. Under the German cover. My opinion, to wrap it up, is that it was a f*cked up era with loads of victims. From both sides. I have no clue if what the Chams suffered falls under the definition of "genocide" scientifically speaking. I know that it was in the middle of a war, I know for a fact that local Chams had exercised violence against local Greeks, I know for a fact the the evacuation order to Zervas was British one. I know that Zervas troops, in some cases, did allow vengeance practices from local Greeks to evacuating Chams. I know, for a fact, that the Greek government (which was in Cairo) had nothing to do with that, directly or indirectly.

So real, so Hollywoodian, no wonder why this documentary comedy got nominated and awarded. To me, it is mesmerizing, it is surreal, maybe because I know where the scene took place, the famous "Atrium Restaurant", Rolling Meadows, Illinois, the USA where many of my friends worked there for years and some of them were protagonists in this documentary. No real actors, only ordinary people that worked there: waitresses, bartenders, dishwashers, hostesses, chefs/cooks, busboys, and real guests/customers. Congratulations to the author for his masterpiece and for the awards as well.
