I remember seeing someone in the comments say that as a kid they thought nightmare was some sort of alternate Kirby based on the death animation. With all the new lore revelations that is becoming scarily plausible
When I was a kid this game had the best twist ending. Dedede turning out not to be some irresponsible arrogant king bathing in the fountain of dreams but instead did his best to keep the darkness from overtaking his realm. But here comes Kirby under the impression that Dedede is just being an arrogant brat fighting through everything the king can throw at him, and Meta Knight knowing there's more to the story testing and training Kirby because he knows Kirby can defeat the king, resulting in Nightmarish repercussions. They saw Kirby coming and realized that he COULD win against the Nightmare. Dedede was terrified of that thing getting loose but once it was was all like "Okay, you let him out, YOU deal with him!" Kirby just goes with it and kicks anti-celestial butt.
This is on an NES. THIS IS ON AN NES. This game is so magical for an NES game, it even gets around limitations! Simply one of the best NES and Kirby games!
Apologies for the compression quality in some spots here -- this was exported from Twitch and appears to be downgraded in spots during the stream process... This compression problem appears to be in the downloaded Twitch footage and in the Twitch highlight. My Canada ISP is also not the best when it comes to consistent upload speeds. In future, I'll try to remember to keep a separate source recording if I plan to potentially upload to RU-vid later. The source footage was 60FPS full RGB desktop capture. Also, since this is using desktop audio directly, some Windows OS sounds can be heard in spots when I was screen-capping the end. I think I may try to capture from a separate PC plugged into my streaming machine to prevent capturing unwanted sounds and prevent taxing CPU + I/O too much between game and stream processes... Still been a while since doing any RU-vid stuff here! Might be nice to dust off this channel potentially. One of my childhood favorites, but now that I'm old enough to understand the story, why does the nightmare show up, knock out the star rod, then... Fly away? Lmao, it makes no sense
I certainly wouldn't call it a failure, everyone has to start somewhere, and it's how we all learn! Just creating and putting in this amount of content in a game during not even high school years is pretty impressive!
Kirby : Nightmare / Lord Nightmare Moon blows up Sonic : Dr. Eggman / Dr. Robotnik moon blows up,….what’s with Nintendo, and Sega villains always causing moons to blow up? Lolol 😂🤣✨
I’ll say this. They did a good job making Nightmare look like he did not belong in Kirby’s world, which was what they were going for. Everything in Kirby’s world looks cartoony and cute. Then you come to this guy who looks menacing.
I still don't believe it that my 4 years old daughter played this game all the way untill this final boss. 🤯 I let her play on my Switch while I'm playing FIFA22 on my PC. She kept bugging me saying she couldn't pass this one and asked me for help. Then I googled myself Kirby final boss, and here I am.
I had the honor of playing this awesome game in my NES console decades ago, towards the end of its run, the NES had some amazing games that fully exploited the console's potential. The NES lasted over a full decade in the market before getting obsoleted by the end of the 90s, a record very few other gaming systems can match, and its influence remains strong to this day, with the amount of "indie" games that fully embrace its aesthetics and soundtrack style. Do yourself a favor and play this game, even on an emulator, you'll have a lot of fun.
