Welcome to the channel where we believe that Every Card Has Value! Our goal is to find ways for you to extract that value from your bulk collection. Whether it is buylisting your bulk to another retailer, selling individual inexpensive singles profitably, or just enjoying your collection in new and interesting ways, we are here to help you get the most out of that pile of cards you otherwise wouldn’t be using.
Question - what do you do as a solution when people order 40+ cards to get right over the $5 free shipping margin and then i have to pay $4.60 in shipping. Is there an alternative to this?
my one question here is why sort the sets by alphabetical order and not chronological order? If I new set coming out starts with a D, you gotta move everything over both ways no?
When I had a smaller inventory, as in, could fit in just two boxes, it was easier for my brain to just keep them in alphabetical order. I can see the whole inventory at a glance, so it's not really more efficient for pulling cards to have them organized any particular way, except in how quickly I can find the set. Now that my inventory is larger (6 four-row boxes at the time I am typing this comment), they need to be in the same order that TCGplayer organizes the pullsheets, especially for Direct reimbursement invoices
@@TCGBulkKings and does tcgplayer do chronoligcal order or alphabetical ord? I am trying to organize my collection for selling on tcgplayer, getting prepared when I become a level 4 seller
@@Kodywit-AK yeah, they do reverse chronological order (asterisk). There is a list in the Direct tab that tells you the set orders for product lines in the Direct program, but basically it's Rev Chron within supertypes (e.g., standard sets, commander sets, Master sets, specialty sets, &c.)
I am split on it. As someone who started playing in 1996, I love the old cards. But some of the new treatments are cool as heck and I love the alternate artworks and more options for artists that are out there because of it.
May you give a list and links to buy everything you use? If it is also an amazon link you get a kickback on I would be happy to use that as well. Thank you for this!
Almost all of my supplies I get from BCW Supplies - penny sleeves, team bags, toploaders if you use them, storage boxes, dividers, &c. I have a promo code with them for 10% off. Follow this link and use code 'tcgbulkkings' : www.bcwsupplies.com/?acc=tcgbulkkings If you want to use the Shipping Shields, I think there's a link for them in the description of this video =]
@@Kodywit-AK ahhh, there are also links in the description for the return address stamp and the Epson Eco tank printer. The envelopes I get from Walmart typically. Thanks for wanting to support me, I'm honestly humbled and just glad to be helpful
@@TCGBulkKings Thank you for answering my questions! One more for you, I have a ton of cards I need to sort through, but I don't know where to start! There are sets where I may only have 1-100 cards for, so if I sort by set I don't know how to make that good. Do I sort by rarity, then color, then set if I see I have enough cards to actually catagorize them by set? Want to be as efficient as possible. Thanks!
@@Kodywit-AK Are you looking to sell them? I would I guess in your situation do a set sort first, maybe have a pile for each of those few sets your cards primarily come from, and then a single pile for the sets with few cards. Then I would alphabetize them within the set. Don't sort by color or casting cost or card type, you'll only have to undo it later. Obviously, this is just whatever works best for you - if color is best for you, don't let me stop you. "Run what you brung" as they say in the racing world, and for this, what you brung is your brain. If you're looking to organize for the purpose of playing/deckbuilding/&c., then really it's whatever works best with how you like to deckbuild. I don't really do a lot of that, so I can't really advise on a "best" way to do it. But I know there's lots of info out there about it =] Hope that helps Kody
I been off shipping shields for a while now .. sence I bought a case of 1800 and they were just a bit thicker then they had been In the past so usps started saying my letters were to ridged and wanted me to pay packaged fees
I haven't run into that problem with mine, usually when USPS does this it's some human deciding something rather than actually not meeting regulations. But Shipping Shields aren't the only way to go, for sure, just one among many correct solutions
Who cares? It was a trash game that was trying to cash in on the free tendies or the pandemic. Nobody actually played it. Basically no store carried it and most stores refused to carry it. TCGPlayer cut the price dramatically, because they couldn't move the product. It was a massive scam by somebody with enough money to make it happen.
My experience is that, no matter how underperforming, how maligned, how poorly received a game is during it's life, there will always be an audience that has some positive memories with it and eventually wants to collect it, whether for nostalgia or lullz. That's what this video is about - the post-mortem life cycle of a card game's value
So easily, the worst thing I've ever seen happen to somebody in my five years selling, in terms of ghost inventory, is that they weren't paying attention to which pricing section they were under and thought they were setting up buylist prices. They listed something like 11 of each item they wanted for $0.01/ea under the normal inventory pricing section. Brother didn't have just ghost inventory, but the entire damn graveyard.
With tcgplayer envelopes being a huge flop I’m not going to change anything. Handcuffing sellers then trying to make us swim in their ecosystem isn’t going to help them or us in the long run
I used to try to do one each month, but stuff wouldn't change enough to make the videos interesting, so I'm going for each quarter now, just like you said =]
This is the official policy yes, I haven't heard of anyone saying they've seen repercussions from this policy yet though. I'm not sure how they'd enforce it unless there was clear evidence of someone successfully siphoning off large numbers of customers. Not sure how they'd measure that either though
@@TCGBulkKings Secret shoppers maybe? Other retail corporations have and do this to make sure their employees are "trained properly" so I wouldn't be surprised
@TCGBulkKings This is ridiculous.... glad I'm only selling on eBay, but since eBay owns TCG player, it worries me that they would try to implement this on eBay as well.
Only thing im saying, its going to be awful hard and probably pricy to determine when these shields in question were purchased. I have 15 million already in inventory 😅. 😑 prove me wrong.
In the article he explains that TCGplayer told him that brands/logos are okay, as long as there aren't any kind of websites, qr codes, or calls to action to go anywhere but to TCGplayer
@@TCGBulkKings This is ridiculous.... glad I'm only selling on eBay, but since eBay owns TCG player, it worries me that they would try to implement this on eBay as well.
Is TCGPlayer not doing well? Or are they getting pressure to increase profits? I got an email a while ago about them discontinuing the buylist for Direct customers, as well as the “discrepancy tracking” they are doing now, seems like they are really trying to tamp down
It’s unfortunate, but it makes sense. Like, a printing store wouldn’t want you making posters advertising their competition. It works the same way I guess
Unenforceable policy that they didn't notify any sellers about. I'm sure it'll have a big impact. (not) I'll continue including my marketing materials until I'm directly told to stop.
Listings with photos are meant to show certain non-fungible traits, such as autographs, altered art, or damage. The prices for adding photos to listings is relatively time consuming compared to simply typing in a quantity and price. The culture on TCGplayer understands that fungibility is assumed, unless it's specifically called out with a photo listing
Is there a good link or document I can grab to print that has all the sets in reverse chronological order? I’m a small eBay seller but wanted to branch into other platforms and want to organize my inventory well from the start!
store.tcgplayer.com/admin/Direct/SetListOrder This is TCGplayer's official list page for their set order. This is accessed through the Direct tab on the Seller Portal, so if you are not in the Direct program it's possible I suppose that it won't let you access this page. So let me know if that's the case, and I'll try to make something happen for you =]
@@TCGBulkKings yea I’m not in direct, trying to work my way up levels 1-4 but want to start my inventory in the same fashion as direct is listed so I don’t have to as my inventory grows.
My website is run on WordPress and WooCommerce. I have a plugin that lets me manipulate my products in a built-in spreadsheet. So anywhere I can get the checklist of cards in a spreadsheet form, it makes it relatively easy to import the whole list and pricing. Then I just need to tell it how many I have (just like the Pricing Tab on TCGplayer), and if I don't already have a card image, I need to scan the card and add it in (but I only have to do that the first time). And that's pretty much it. Maybe I can do a video on that sometime if you'd like more detail
Just wanted to say i have had 3 orders canceled on TCG where they canceled the whole orders (2 from the same seller btw) and one where they had to issue a partial refund. I have only made 9 orders 🙃
Do you mean the little plastic bags that can fit 50-100 cards, depending on which ones you get? Those are typically called /team bags/, so called because you would put all cards from the same sports team in them to get a bunch of cards of, say, the NY Mets or the Dallas Cowboys or whatever. You can get them from BCW Supplies (and lots of other places too), and if you use my discount code 'tcgbulkkings', you will not only support my channel but also save 10% on your order!
Hi Chase, thank you so much for these videos! It’s been 3 weeks and I’m on the cusp of becoming seller lvl 4. One question, is it too costly to use my printer to print directly onto envelopes if I don’t have ecotank? I only have about $230 in sales so it is hard to justify purchasing the printer. However, it is starting to become a little time consuming to hand write the to address. Thanks!
Hey there, glad the videos are helpful! It's not too costly to use a regular printer, especially if the time saved will be better spent listing more cards. You will eventually want to upgrade to someone that costs less per page, but save the time now
How common is it for new accounts to get flagged and put under review? After putting in a ton of work and making a handful of sales, my account randomly got flagged and put under review, inventory hidden. It would be nice if I was given more info as to what caused this! It doesn't give the best first impression of TCGplayer for them to pull something like this without providing more info...
@@TCGBulkKings I was flagged right after adjusting/undercutting competition (I'm aggressively trying to sell what I have in stock to level up the account) and i think the behavior must have triggered something in their system. I also set the sale price of an expensive card to $1 as i was adjusting its quantity to 0 because it wouldn't let me set both the price AND quantity to 0. I'm not sure if something like that would flag the account for review. I really hope they do not take forever in reviewing my account 🤦 I have outstanding orders to ship from yesterday that I'll be mailing off, but with the deactivated status of the account i really do wonder if they will resolve this in a timely manner.
I don't have an answer without doing research. But I can tell you how to do the research =] You should look at whatever commander decks you have available to purchase and the prices you'll have to pay for them. Then you should google search "mtggoldfish <name of deck>" to see the list of cards in that deck and their prices. MTGGoldfish pricing is pretty good - not exactly TCGplayer pricing but will get you an idea of the valuable cards in the deck. If it looks like you can make a good deal more in sales than it will cost to get the deck, then go for that. Once you hit Level 4, you can list all the cards that are under a dollar or so as well, so it gets you going for your inventory after you can adjust your shipping settings. Hope that helps!
My favorite set of the era is 87 Topps. I love the wood grain and besides having a few non bulk cards, it’s the year I was born. But I’ve always loved the diamond kings and so do a lot of other people even from the “junk” sets. People still like the hall of fame player cards from these sets and the rookies like Al leiter who had strong careers.
My thoughts exactly, also there are crazy set collectors out there. There's enough demand for these cards /as singles/ that I think it's possible to do this this way. The demand has started to catch up to the supply, to an extent. I'm not saying these are investment vehicles, or ever going to be super valuable, but they don't have to have much value to be interesting
87 Topps was my jam too. Would walk down to the Ben Franklin 5 & Dime and pick up a pack. As a 6 year old it was the best thing ever. Those and garbage pale kids.
Just dawned on me that this October will be a year of me selling on TCGplayer using your tips, and being an inventory specialist for UPS going on 2 years now. I still have so much to learn and am so glad my job uses tools I can transfer over to my TCGstore!
HI. ty for the info but I don't get the over 5.00 free shipping if a card is .10 x 50 = 5.00 isn't shipping 4.00 and change? please explain this cus I'm not understanding. love your work need more from you lol.
I should be able to ship such an order as a large envelope, likely around $2 shipping total. If I need to do a parcel, it still comes out slightly positive. Also, outside of TCGplayer, I don't get many orders that stop at just 50 $.10 cards. If I have to adjust I will, but this is where I've landed for now
Ya I started to do .16 as a minimum just so I never lose money on a one card order and helps bump up the profit might try like a .25 cent minimum once I get a 200k inventory
@@TCGBulkKingscan you explain the large envelope part a little? What size envelope is it? Do you have to package it differently? What type of postage do you put on it?
Exactly! I felt the same way when eBay came out with this. I was so excited as a new seller to use this as an easy method and just deviated at the price. I guess eBay owns TCG so makes sense they would try and move it here specifically.
Hi, bro I love your content and have been a loyal subscriber! Your messages are incredibly inspiring. As an SEO expert, I see great potential for your channel to grow even more. I'd love to share some tips on how to increase your views and reach a wider audience. Let's connect and take your channel to the next level!
All of these have come from bulk collections I've bought over the last several months. To get bulk collections, I would start by asking around in your peer groups, or joining local Facebook groups and advertising your purchase pricing in there. Begin building experience and reputation that way, until you can grow to higher levels at which people will be either referring you to others or seeking you out themselves.
@TCG Bulk Kings 17:45 Hey Chase great video you mention a big Pokémon order going through Pirate Ship and packaged up in a bubble mailer. I’d be interested to know the cost breakdown for that order, since I have shipped orders with 50 cheap cards <20¢ and ended up losing dramatically on shipping costs ~$5. Is there any way around this on TCGPlayer?
Pirate Ship can get you a good discount on shipping. Some of those orders if the cards are really cheap the margins do get eaten up by the shipping, but they are usually still in the same ballpark if you were selling the cards individually. 50 cards at $.20 each is $10, so $4-5 shipping leaves you at least $5 or $.10 margin per card, which is pretty good
The biggest culprit I've run into and this is on me is having two windows or tabs even on different computers open for your store dashboard and uploading a CSV for new inventory and it ends up doubling your cards you're adding that has been catastrophic for me over the last 2 years
I do sell on lots of platforms, but I don't cross list anything unless I have a service up that handles it for me, like Mascot to go between Ebay and MyCardPost.
I guess the main point of this video is that people oftentimes start blaming platforms or systems rather than themselves. They are unwilling to admit that they are making mistakes, and as a result, don't ever fix their problems. If you can admit you are making mistakes then you can work to fix them and eventually prevent them
Thanks for the information! Excellent Content! Where do you take into consideration cost of card for your calculations. I didn't see it applied, unless I missed something...or you have a distributor that offers free bulk in which case, hook me up :P .
Thank you so much for this answer! Really helps me level with my own pricing. I also loved your thoughts around an operating business and how that's looked down on in this space. I always thought that was funny,. considering without it we wouldn't be able to buy singles for deck building competitively.
@@RogueCardVault-ty6dm I'm glad you saw it that way =] So many people good over the fact that this is a service provided to the market. Creating the ability for the market to move it's products more freely is (almost) always beneficial for all parties involved, in the long run. And most of the ones who feel a short term pain are just no longer able to exploit the inefficiencies artificially created. Putting forgotten collections back into the market gets more cards to people who want them Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
