How important do you think it is to try to get into the best/an ABA accredited school? Do you think it would be less essential for someone with related experience and a bachelor's degree?
People hearing about the recent case of Alex and Justina Lucero, tourists on Maui who were lured by well known criminals on Maui to stop on the side of the road, car jacked and then chased up the volcano being shot at are wondering if Christopher Helmer, the perp who orchestrated their harrowing incident, is also responsble for Khiara's disappearance.
A lot of community colleges in LA county have them! I myself was considering going to El Camino Community College at first (the program there was cheaper too of course).
I’m new to your channel and watching all your videos as I type! I love your content and your personality so much. You’re such an inspiration. I’ve always wanted to be in law but as a paralegal. I drifted because I didn’t know if it was really me but watching you and your drive really has shown me that is still me. I’m 23 still trying to figure things out and go about life. I hope you keep making vlogs and everything you’re passionate about. ❤
Of course! Thank you for watching! ☺️ That’s great that your university has paralegal as a major, mine didn’t. But you should also consider adding in a minor if you can! It’s definitely helped me in the job field.
@@CrystalHurt Thank you so much.I am so excited about this journey I am on to become a Paralegal.I really love your videos help me a lot.Have a great day.
My opinion is biased because I absolutely loved UCLA, but honestly any program that fits you best (time wise and financially) will ultimately be your best option!
Sort of, but not really. I’d say that’s more self-taught on the job. Being organized looks different for everyone because it’s tailored to your specific field of work!
There legal assistants working in law firms that paid less and have earned the title without certificate it’s sad after getting the degree you have work basically fir the legal assistant who has no education
That’s unfortunate to hear, this hasn’t been my experience whatsoever. In fact, at a firm I worked at prior, I had a legal assistant assigned to assist me. 😊 All depends.
I don’t understand why the mother wasn’t investigated more.. like how do you just hand over your child to someone and never even noticed or report she was missing??? That mom and grandmother sold off that poor baby girl 😢
I would say almost immediately, paralegal courses are a fraction of law school so not nearly as much debt (if you take out a loan for your paralegal courses).
why do you have to watch screenings of movies? It's really cool and an interesting facet of your work and I'm curious how it connects to other tasks you have? I imagine being familiar with the content of the film is important and I'm interested in learning the reasoning.
I don't think it was for her work. It was more like she had a time block to do what she wanted. As long as the work gets done I guess it doesn't matter.
I wanna be a paralegal but my degree is in English do you think I still have a good chance at becoming a paralegal? I just really realized that I wanna go into this field I always had an idea but I just finalized it for myself.
Hi Crystal! You make great videos and they are actually helpful for people like us who are planning to join paralegal firm and are completely new to this field. I had a question. Actually I have my masters degree in International Law from a foreign university (India) and I’m planning to join a paralegal firm here in Texas where I recently moved with my husband. So what paralegal certification do I need before entering in any paralegal firm? Is a 5-6 month paralegal certification enough for me?
Hi! Thank you so much for watching and I’m so glad you find my videos helpful! ☺️ Also, congrats on your Masters Degree that’s amazing! I want to re-iterate that not all forms require a paralegal certificate. I would first look into firms in your area and see what the job qualifications are, if a certificate is mandatory then any program (weather it be 5 months or 12 months) would work! As long as at the end of your program you receive a certificate you will be good! Some programs are shorter than others because they’re accelerated, so if you have the time I’d definitely say go for the faster program but be prepared to retain a lot of information in a short time-span. Wishing you the best of luck!
I love your content! Hi Crystal my name is Kiana I graduated with my BA in Criminal Justice I’m planning to enroll in a Paralegal program in the spring and get some experience before I go to law school. Can paralegals really make 6 figures ? Have you heard of freelance paralegals and what are they exactly?
Hey girl! Thank you for these tips I been thinking about taking some Microsoft classes that’s offered free at my local library during undergrad I struggled with Microsoft excel it was a language barrier between me and my professor I took a year break since I graduated I’ll be going back to get my paralegal certification didn’t realize a lot of job require paralegal experience I eventually want to go to law school but I want to get my foot in the door with being an paralegal. Also I don’t see the link for typing proficiently can you please send it again?
Hey crystal, I just found your page and love your content. I am currently sophomore in undergrad and interest in law school, but thinking about getting a certificate as a paralegal to get a jump the law field. Which could possibly help with law school. Do you have any suggestions for me or any helpful ideas? I would love some advice.
Hey Crystal! Don’t listen to them lol. I like seeing the outfits. I love seeing how other women dress in law. I went to my class dressed also! I wanted to ensure I looked good so that I would be considered should there be any internships. I also let my professor know my specific interests in law (real estate, trust & probate, corporate). She has been a paralegal for over 30 years. She is going to bring an estate planning attorney into one of our classes just because I shared my interest. Ones appearance definitely should be considered. People are shallow lol they will bond with you simply because they like your dress 😅
So you have a minor/major and paralegal degree that’s the path I’m currently on now just not the same order I’m going to a Community College in my state to earn my paralegal degree then plan to attend a 4 year university for for my bachelors in political science and minor in social science my goal is to become a lawyer as well. So when you do a major and minor do you need less credits for the minor like is easy to obtain both? How many credits is needed for a minor?
Hi! I think that’s a great path to be on! Just curious, what made you want to go to paralegal school first? I haven’t heard of anyone doing that before! And yes, to receive my minor I believe it was an extra 6-8 courses if I’m not mistaken. Because I wanted to finish faster I also opted to study abroad for a summer which I was able to take 3 of my minor classes within a few months so that was helpful! Wishing you the best of luck!
Hey Crystal! I would love some advice. First off I love your videos and find them inspiring. I am currently working to get into the paralegal field. I work three jobs and wonder what advice you would provide to help me pursue that career. Would you recommend at home classes or trying to find an office to work for in my small town? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!
Heyy, I loved the video. I just wanted to pause and say, im so sorry that someone said they could care less about what you do in the mornings but I promise they dont speak for the masses. I especially love to see how people start the day and the different tips and habits that i can incorporate. I really admire, how organized you are. Im not at all, thanks to adhd. Can you do a video about how to organize your computer and how to respond and when to respond to external and internal emails please.
Love the content, Crystal. Also, whoever said “we” don’t want to see everything is speaking for themselves. Our jobs don't make for engaging content. You can only watch a person type on a computer so many different ways, and I couldn't imagine my supervising attorney allowing me to vlog during a trial. You blend lifestyle content and b-roll into your blogs astonishingly well. It’s what contributed towards 200,000 people watching you. Stay encouraged, make the content you want to create, and keep being dope. #roadto300k
Hi! I just discovered your channel. I'm currently a music major, but I may have to switch majors because of an injury I sustained. I have always been interested in the legal field and have considered becoming a lawyer, but I held back because I have always wanted a family and to "settle down" in the future... and I know being a lawyer is super time consuming. Would you say being a paralegal is still a good way to get into the legal field without sacrificing family? As in, would it be possible to maintain a healthy work-life balance if a paralegal were to want a family? Thank you, I love your channel!
Hi Crystal, I am loving all of your videos, thank you so much for the invaluable information on becoming a Paralegal! Would definitely like to see your lifestyle content also.
