Teenagers, a complex being. Even with an almost seemingly perfect life, they still find something to complain about. Even with family, and friends by their side, they are still consumed by a loneliness, created by their deepest fears. They think the worst of any situation, and are so scared of being judged by their peers, to the point that they create alter egos of themselves. Ones they hide behind as a shield, and as a coping mechanism. Nobody can judge them the way they judge themselves. A graphic novel, in particular, that demonstrates the ups and downs of the teenage life, and the different stages they go though in finding themselves, is Anya’s Ghost by Michelle. Michelle uses the regular conventions of storytelling to create a coming of age story that teenagers can relate to.
