Thanks for this - it was a great help. As mentioned below you had a really good grasp of the rules, and you also made it easy to follow your decision-making. Much appreciated.
At 2:12, you're correct. A unit can be disrupted by fire from one position and take a step loss from another position in the same fire phase - rule 6.33 - I've been playing this wrong
I haven't played in a good while. I used to make an effort to play a full campaign every D-Day, but have fallen out of that rotation. I imagine that I will get back to the game at some point, and do not plan on getting rid of it.
I think that Omaha and Tarawa are still the best games of DDay Series, but Butterfield has made another step on solitaire games with Enemy Acton Ardennes and Kharkov
In the first round with the doctor you failed to apply the terror when you didn't complete a task with that roll. I wish that people who knew what they were doing made videos.
1:25 Note that the green band units never go in the losses box. You put the full-strength chit in the loss box when it's replaced by the green stripe unit.
4:08 I think the ferocity of family A should increase after making a raid or am I wrong? 8:44 I believe you made a mistake, a newly acquired horse gives the movement bonus starting from the next operational segment, not like you did. 15:23 ceremony card, step 1, reset cubes??? Thanks for this playthrough
Good job on this, one of the cleaner playthroughs on you tube. You didn't miss that many rules and also kept a good pace. I caught something I was doing wrong thanks to you. I was moving people scaling cliff before flipping it, so they were spending longer in steady or intense fire than needed. Excited to get it back on the table knowing that, it should improve my chances.
14:30 During the engineer phase the green WN unit is undisrupted, so green cells cannot be cleared. 20:25 The 1st Division suffers now the 1st catastrophic loss. 21:15 There is an infantry unit at the west sector that would also lose a step due to red fire. (Corrected at next video) 22:10 That unit wouldn’t lose a step due to orange fire, since the hit limit (3) was already reached. (Corrected at next video)
7:27 Minor issue: You moved the 1-step unit to the Loss Box. You are supposed to move the 3-step unit to the Loss Box when it's reduced to a 1-step unit.
So far this is the most accessible explanation of this game. I don't know why but I find this game incredibly difficult to understand. For every rule, there are five other things to check, I cannot seem to get my head around it.
At 22:10, the orange firing, you wouldn't have done the Steady fire circle infantry at the end because your orange guns have a total of 3 stacks. You damaged 3 units in the Intense fire zones, which would have ended the amount of damage they can do.
Dan, at 14:06 you placed the tactical reinforcement on A1. For my understanding it should be A3 because priority 1 is adjacent to a US unit. Love the playthrough by the way! You're doing an excellent job!
Thanks for this playthrough! This has sat on my shelf for too long unplayed. How do you find playing with less characters? Is it well balanced for less?
thanks. It's not perfect. The biggest error I make is that infantry losses get put in the loss box when the step reduces from 3 to 2 ( when the cardboard piece is switched out)
I cannot express on how much you helped me in learning this game. I started watching the series and I grasp a general view of the game. Then I jumped starting reading the playbook and it was easier because I had the play knowledge. Then I re-watched the series, understanding completely what went on. That was the learning process of the game for me and now I am ready for my first game. Thanks a lot
This has recently become one of my favorite solo games. Glad you have a nice play through video - I recommended it to some people on the solo gamers fb group. Keep up the good work!
Kraftpaperqueen Me There was a little hiccup ... he didn’t pick up his food when he explored... he had enough food that night. I’m new to the game and I love it.... haven’t won yet... I’ll try this scenario next
Im confused on a particular task. So this card it's the aid card and it shows 3 magnifying glass, then 6, then 9. I only have 6 dice. And hacent unlocked other dice other than a red (I'm using unseen forcess expansion) my question is. 1. i managed to actually roll 3 magnifying glass on the first roll. What am I suppoed to do after that? Do i take the rolls I just did and it back to my dice pool? Cause how do you complete 6 die with fewer? This card is kinda confusing me 😂
When you played the 8th card in your investigation and it required a stability check, shouldn’t you have done two stability checks? I thought for each card you add after your allowed 7 cards, you have to do an “extra” stability check?
