I was there filming a fan video. After the show I was talking with another fan video producer and Mikel was at the fence on the left of the stage talking with some fans. I felt kind of weird meeting him so I didn’t say much other than hi, great show. He was very shy and quiet. After reading his book I kind of regret not telling him how much his music meant to us back then. He had no idea how life changing the music was for us. Had the pleasure of seeing them again a few months ago and the show was absolutely fantastic. Very small venue in Chicago. The crowd was so engaged that in the loud parts there was alot of singing along. In the soft parts, you could probably hear a pin drop. Everyone knew every song intimately.
