I build a hut at home and make things mainly with woodwork. Utilizing my experience and know-how in furniture production, I send out information about DIY on my blog (Let's make it?).
This is the best designed dado jig on youTube. However SUPER SUPER IMPORTANT: Make sure that your router base is symmetrical i.e. the distance from the edge of the base to the router bit is THE SAME. First use the router centering cone to center the router on the base. Then, depending on what kind of plastic your router base is made of, you can either sand or plane the edge that has too much material. It may only be a few tenths of a millimeter, however if you don't check this, then you'll be wondering why your work is imprecise.
In addition to the two-edge cleaned bits, you can use top-bearing pattern bits. (Top-bearing pattern bits are bits with a bearing at the base of the bit.) However, the diameter of the top-bearing pattern bit that can be used must be larger than the diameter of the two-edge cleaned bits.
The parts used in the video are M6 T-bolt (for 19mm T-slot track), handle with M6 screw hole, and T-slot track 9.5mm x 19mm. It's Amazon Japan, but I'll post the product link. M6 T-bolt amzn.to/4armsde handle with M6 screw hole amzn.to/43IMbvh T-slot track 9.5mm x 19mm amzn.to/4cA1wCu
Bonjour, je suis vos vidéos avec passion depuis quelques temps . Partagez-vous les plans de votre réalisation de votre gabarit de rainure. Vous remerciant par avance. Cordialement
Thanks for the video, the JIG you built is very effective and easy to use. But I have a doubt. At minute 13.53, you make a bit change, I assume that the width of that bit is the same as that of the previous bit, otherwise the JIG would have been modified. Could you confirm this. Thank you
The bit I replaced is a top bearing pattern bit with the bearing attached to the base of the bit. Originally, this jig can only be used with specific bits. In that case, press the side of the base of the trim router against the guide plate on the top of the jig while cutting. In the case of the replaced top bearing pattern bit, cutting is performed while pressing the bit bearing against the guide plate (thin plywood) at the bottom of the jig, without pressing the side of the base of the trim router against the guide plate at the top of the jig. It is possible to perform cutting without changing the jig. *The bit diameter of the top bearing pattern bit must be larger than the diameter of the specific bit. Sorry for the lack of detailed images of that part in the video.
