you are wrong about bidens money. Maybe if it was after the drms convention there coukd be an argument for it. But as it stands the money can only be handed over to the party. Not that the wont give it to harris and sort ot out after election. But that's not what the law says at the moment.
On Hillary Clinton. What defeated her was the electoral college. She won the popular vote by almost 3 million votes, so listing all the reasons she was unwanted is easy but wrong headed. Not giving enough attention to a couple of the states with an unbalanced load of votes is more the point
Yeah true - but on the other hand, Republicans barely bother trying to win California and other huge states If every vote truly counted, then California would suddenly become very important to the Republicans, and Republican voters there would know it was worth voting Same problem in many seats in the UK - often simply no point campaigning or voting
There was other evidence in the case beyond her work schedule. Her behaviour witnessed by parents and doctors and other colleagues. Her presence in the wrong room where a baby died instead of being in the room she was supposed to be in providing 1 to 1 care to another baby. Her written entries in documents found at her house showing her true thoughts. AND her work schedule.
I liked the description of the Milwaukee RNC described by Last Week Tonight with John Oliver as "The worst thing to happen to Milwaukee since Jeffrey Dalmer!" 🤣🤭
I actually find the theory that a secret cabal of 'elites' behind the scenes make the decisions to be pretty comforting - the alternative is far more terrifying
The real question here is why the KC defending Letby put up such an astonishingly weak case This was a big case for him with lots of attention from the media and peers and he appears to have phoned in a half hearted defense that a legal aid intern (or random journalist) could easily have surpassed So he's either guilty of total incompetence or threw the case for some reason - to this day, experts willing to defend Letby still don't know why they weren't called to give evidence A simple defense would be: 1) There's no evidence of any murder occurring, all the autopsies were completely normal 2) There is no evidence at all of Letby ever harming a child 3) The prosecution's expert witness is highly dubious, with many other experts disagreeing completely with his ludicrous hypothesis 4) Most of Letby's colleagues believe she is innocent and were willing to give glowing character references That alone is enough to put reasonable doubt in the minds of any juror
So glad about these pod casts. I started a PE subscription due to Ians amazing showing on radio and TV and its not really for me if i'm being honest so I leave my dad to read it as a counter to the telegraph paper. :) But i'l keep the subscription going to ensure Ian keeps working! ;) End the team keeps going.
Can I make a plea for Kamala's name to be pronounced correctly? The inflection is on the front two syllables, KAMA-la, not Ka-MALA. Lookin' at ypu, Ian.
Thanks. Got to hand it to team Trump though, who've come out with the nickname Commie-La. That was a stroke of genius. Never suspected they had the brains or the wits to think that one up.
this is from someone who is a closer to the US... if we are honest, Biden was a compromise candidate in 2020. it was a given that after 4 years of the previous occupant, that anyone who wore a blue tie and had a passable record in public service, stood a more than decent chance of trouncing said previous occupant. Biden was a safe choice for the Wall St democrats (the Clinton crowd, the ones who count). he pulled it off. and by the 100 day mark in office, his administration did more good for more people than the mango mussolini had even tried to do in 4 years. much more could have been accomplished had there not been a narrow majority party formerly known as republican led house elected in the mid-terms, whose *sole* objective was to obstruct, distract, delay, deflect, and deny. (that is their party motto after all).
Why can't you pronounce Kamala's name as she does, i.e., correctly? Is it that large an intellectual leap? I don't even think it's an accident. I think its a pompous English choice - 'I'll say it as I think it should be said'
You caaaaant be English if you don't stretch a vowel or two, deeeear. I lived in that country for 4 years. I was regularly referred to as "that Irish guy" because the non-rhotic English had trouble with an R in the middle of my surname. Or suuuuhname, if you will. They call Fiorenza "Florence", Munchen "Munich" and gay Pareee boring old "Paris". It's just their thing, mispronunciation. They have their good qualities, too. Sometimes. I recall.
@@johnmckiernan2176 The Italian for Florence is Firenze and the German for Munich is München (the umlaut is not just decoration like it is with heavy metal bands). I'm sure your colleagues were trying their best with your surname and the contributors to this podcast are doing the same with K'muhlla here.
@@FoggyD Fiorenza was the medieval name in the Florentine dialect which gave rise to standard Italian and it's been "Florence" in English since that time. I'm old school like that. And I have no idea how to type an umlaut because it appears in no language I speak, read or write. So ner ner ne ner ner. As for my colleagues; not a chance. Not even with palate surgery. Be assured ""that Irish guy" was about the most polite thing I was called...
Ringo Starr - 84 yrs old, Mick Jagger - 80 yrs old (just wrapped up a big tour), Keith Richards - 80, Ronnie Wood - 77. Lets drop the age comments and go with how they are.
A falling population is okay. If the birth rate goes gently down, then because of technological advances (and perhaps migration) people can still enjoy their standard of life.
HI. As an American, and a democrat, and female, I think you might want to consider that the big issue this election will be abortion, and Kamala will make this the Year of the Woman. Also, the mainstream press may well wake up to the reality that Trump is more ga ga than Biden ever was. Also, American amnesia means that you remember Kamala's previous campaigns, but most Americans do not. Love your podcast.
Dr Hall’s conclusion is extremely flawed. He says he thinks these babies were far sicker than the prosecution portrayed, however in his report for baby K. He cannot rule old the prosecution experts conclusions of air embolism as this baby’s cause of death, he also can offer no alternative to what the prosecutions regarding cause of death, if the babies are “sicker” than portrayed then why can’t he put forward a cause of death? Ultimately we are left with no one putting anything other than air embolism forward as a cause of death for at least baby A. What are we supposed to believe? Dr Hall does try to mitigate this fact though by saying the air embolism could have been “accidental” and i mean you might get away with that once, but not for 3-4 deaths…
@@yingyang1008 there were two babies in this case that Lucy Letby herself AGREED were deliberately poisoned with insulin, so we already have foul play. SOME of the babies that died did have post mortems yes, however many of these post mortems didn’t end in a cause of death being recorded. Granted foul play wasn’t found at the time, but you have to remember these children NEVER left the hospital, pathologists, rightly or wrongly are looking for natural causes with a biased eye, again these babies never left the hospital.
@@slingo1246 The fact is that there is no proof of a murder having taken place There is also no proof of any kind of Letby ever harming a child Call me old fashioned - but if was a juror on a murder case, I would first what to see proof that a murder had actually occurred All we have is a hypothesis by a very dubious 'expert' - a hypothesis which is found to be ludicrous by plenty other experts The entire case is a shambolic embarrassment and actually quite terrifying I genuinely find it terrifying that people like yourself may one day be required to serve on a jury
Thanks folks. Abraham Wald and the Center For Naval Analyses story is my favourite example of how easy it is to misinterpret the information in front of you.
@@hermatred572 completely false, we have two babies deliberately harmed with insulin Lucy Letby herself accepted this and that it happened on her shift
@@hermatred572 Police interviews Letby was interviewed by police in July 2018 about that night shift. She remembered Child F, but had no recollection of the incident and "had not been involved in his care". She was asked about the TPN bags chart. She said the TPN was kept in a locked fridge and the insulin was kept in that same fridge. She confirmed her signature on the TPN form. She had no recollection of having had involvement with administering the TPN bag contents to Child F, but confirmed giving Child F glucose injections and taken observations. She also confirmed signing for a lipid syringe at 12.10am, the shift before. The prosecution say she should have had someone to co-sign for it. "She accepted that the signature tended to suggest she had administered it." "Interestingly, at the end of this part of the interview she asked whether the police had access to the TPN bag that she had connected," Mr Johnson added. In a June 2019 police interview, Letby agreed with the idea that insulin would not be administered accidentally.
From Clarence Thomas to Project 2025/Heritage Foundation they are trying to ban all contraception (condoms birth control pills) Please don't talk about leaders being too old (Queen Liz/King Chuck).
Helen flashes back to Kamala's worst moment, regarding bussing that she DID get taken to a better school & neighborhood. Meanwhile there were riots in Boston, MA. Ian "astutely" notices that Rupert Murdocks USA papers took lead from Rupert Murdock's GB papers, well sucked up.
