Have you ever used automatic feeders? I have a few times. You have to buy a good one or they can malfunction and dump a whole bunch of food all at once. Thanks for the tips.😊
My fish had gotten used to fasting a bit already with a few shorter ones, and they were easily able to fast for 20 days with no issues. I know they are getting some natural food from their tanks as well, so it’s not a true fast. Also lowering the temperature can help lower metabolism so they require less food while away as long as it’s still in the accepted range for that fish.
Hey great videos! Have been watching a bunch looking into getting a group of discus for myself! Would love to see a video detailing what you need in a tank for raising young discus for breeding and what plants/rocks would be best to help identify the couple and give enough spawn sites for a group of 6
@@cipicup16 have you watched a lot of my videos? I have over 800 to date. I will look and see but I am almost certain that I have already made that type of video? Let me look and I will post the link if I find what you are looking for. Thank you.
I am so sorry. We will change that. We Did not get that from your site! Here is where we borrowed that from. It was not from RU-vid content. Here is the link. If this article was yours, I apologize. I don't see you mentioned here. Again, we will change that. mytanklife.com/aquarium-salt-the-wonder-cure-no-one-uses/
How many discus you got in there. Im starting a discus tank & i want to have 10. Just discus. Filtration will be two fluval fx4 , temp 86 degrees, 75 gallon tank
@@jeremytack7256 I have 8 in that tank. It takes a great deal of patience and willingness to keep the tank clean. Water changes are vey important. I would not do more than 8!
@@rickybennett1192 I have never kept the two together. You should talk to a qualified fish distribution facility or read as much as you can about the two species.
@@1997goldwing I have never tried this. You can try it with a few of them just to see how they do, but I don’t recommend trying this with a large amount of them and wasting your money if they don’t survive. This is a little bit out of my wheelhouse as far Glow Fish go, and I would recommend that you consult someone who has a little bit more information about what their needs are. Thank you for asking. Good luck.
@@TCgirl I would try polyguard first. Try that two doses. Make sure you read the directions on the back. If that doesn’t work, try NeoPlex as instructed.
Does anyone know what water conditioner is safe while using ich x? I thought 30% water change after each dose of ich x was required, also thought I need to add water conditioner any time I add in tap water so I’m not sure what’s safe? I have seachem prime and I don’t know if that would counteract ich x
@@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto thank you so much for the info! Someone left these poor carnival goldies by the trash when I went to the fair and it’s looking like they have ich so I’m hoping this will save them 🥹 once again, thank you!! 😇
i believe there is a bit of an overcrowd of youtubers who does general fish topics. i love this channel because it's a discus fish niche channel. No one else does this, its very unique. But best of luck
Not sure if you'll see this comment since it's an old video but I have a 3.7 gallon nano with this exact same filter. I have put my own sponge and filter floss in it. My question is, is how often do you clean the filter? And do you just clean the sponge and floss or do you take the filter apart and really clean it all inside it? Really hope you respond since you are very knowledgeable. Thank you.
@@lairddunham3692 I know longer have this aquarium setup, but I still use similar filter systems. Cleaning the sponge by simply wringing it out every few months is really all you need to do. This will keep the flow clear and strong.
@@aquaticconceptsbringingwatertothank you. Last question. Do find this filter safe for shrimp with the intake being so low in the water vs up high? Would I need to put some foam or mesh of some sort over the intake? Thank you again and I will be subscribing.
@@lairddunham3692 I don’t keep shrimp. But yes, I will suggest that you do put some kind of a covering around the bottom. You can use a rubber band to hold it in place. Good luck.
I have 14 of these guys in my cherry shrimp tank, but you wouldn’t know it, they hide constantly! I have even added floating plants to try and make them feel more comfortable. It’s been two weeks now. Water parameters are heading towards a neutral PH, as that is what I have read they prefer, I have botanicals in the tank, lots of live plants and moss, and there are no predators, only hundreds of cherry shrimp. I feed live baby brine shrimp to them, and they barely come out to eat! Shy is an understatement 😂 I tested the water they were in when I bought them, and it matched my aquariums PH, which was quite alkaline, I was a little shocked that the store didn’t keep them in a neutral PH to be honest, because that’s what they prefer 🤷♀️
@@unsocialbutterfly5760 throw out all the water parameter stuff. These are probably tank raised. What is the temperature of your water? I have never had ember Tetras hide before. Starve them for a few days and then give it another try. don’t chase water parameters.
@@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto my temp was a little in the low side, I just turned it up during todays water change. Yes you are right, probably tank raised, thanks for the advice!
@@unsocialbutterfly5760 temperature on the higher side will speed up Metabolism. This will get them out to eat. Once they see it is safe to eat they will be more willing to be out in the open. Good luck!
