I seriously think there is an assembly defect for my Model 3 a/c drain system. I always smell wet dirty socks smell when I first enter the car when a/c is blowing. I never saw any collected water pool on the ground when parked. Today I tried to park my Model 3 side by side with 2015 VW golf with a/c on full. The VW drains a lot of water on the ground but Model 3 is bone dry on the ground.
There's a chance they changed the drain system since mine is an April 2018 single motor Model 3. Best course of action to remove the smell yourself is to look up how to do the evaporator cleaning (foam spray the coils and replace both cabin filters with new ones). The various forums should help. But if you are worried about the drain system, set up a service appt and have Tesla look at it. If it really is an issue, they'll fix it under warranty.
Hey just wonder if you got it fix. I was replacing the filter yesterday and notice some sponge cushion under the carpet is wet. And very wet. I called Tesla they say possibly the HVAC is draining inside of the car.
@@MrTofuDragon oh wow really? No issues with water buildup or water dripping on the frame? Any corrosion issues noticed? Do you know if this is a unique setup or are other companies doing this now for some reason?
