I adored him as an actor long before Harry Potter. I had seen this movie before I ever saw Harry Potter. I can never imagine anyone ever being more perfectly cast in any of his movies. He was the perfect Hans Gruber, the perfect Sheriff of Nottingham, the perfect Colonel Brandon and yes, the perfect Professor Snape. RIP to both Alan Rickman and Miranda Richardson.
