Cool video, as a former pirate I don't recommend playing burned discs mostly because it will wear your laser out faster than an original disc, and it can also damage your laser
So the rule of thumb for this, I’ve discovered, is that the ps2s laser just gets worse over time. As it does this, the quality of disc required for this goes up! This is why a lot of times, ps2s struggle to read blue backed ps2 discs. Over time, the disc quality got better! This was also the case with my console. I burned the disc and popped it into my console (90k ps2 slim) and got a black screen. Shit is annoying. I wish it worked right out the box but unfortunately there’s just more nuance to it. So I bought better quality discs and then it worked. Had a sigh of relief and never looked back. Definitely always make sure your TEST game is on the compatibility list. It’s great for establishing a baseline, to ensure you’ve done the process correctly & that the discs/console you have is working correctly. I wish it wasn’t such a “hope this works” thing but the reality is the quality of disc does matter and the weaker your ps2’s laser is, the higher the disc quality will need to be.
Im not actually sure but there’s a way to make your console region free. It’s something I’m gonna make a video for. It’s what I did for my console and paired with esr patcher, basically the ultimate ps2 without needing hardware modification!
I thought the game glitched out when you tried to enter the museum and it refused...until you saw that I portal was still open. You were perfect to that point. It's so cool to see someone play so efficiently at this game. I played this game A LOT back in the day.
Sadly, no. PS2 games are DVDs and the early ps2 games that are CD, I think, it’s hit or miss. I don’t know a lot about CD based PS2 games but found this: gbatemp.net/threads/burning-ps2-games-to-cd.392995/
Thanks for the very in-depth video! I appreciate the no camera cuts, and showing the whole process. I just found a desktop for $40 that has a CD reader/writer and have been super excited to burn some discs. This blew my mind that I didn't need any hardware mods. Thanks again! ❤
Good going... I just tried to run the exploit on my day 1 phat launch model ps2... Black screen... And then when I plugged it back in? Sparks everywhere. So thanks man... I'm out a scph-30001 original black model. Yeesh.
Thanks so much. Crazy how the brand of DVD would matter that much. I was just going to give up until I saw your video. Thanks so much for helping me get this to work.
Yeah it’s so annoying honestly. I’ve always wanted something to JUST WORK. But I suppose with how old the ps2 is becoming, its laser just isn’t doing too well. Quality of disc matters once that laser starts running on fumes. Sad days
Anyone who has a PlayStation Classic Mini, you might be interested to know that the translated Kings Field 1&2 can be found on the True Blue Mini Meth Pack. Only just noticed myself haha
It’ll work with that model! And the double dvd! As for PAL, I have to check if it’ll work with PAL games. Any game suggestions? I’ll try it out here in a bit!
This is actually from a Japanese runner. They never post on RU-vid and the videos are always a task to dig up; so I uploaded it here for them. Kerotto is a kings field legend!
I def didn’t mean to be confusing but also confess (in the video as well), I don’t fully understand how it works. But your comments actually give it great key details. I appreciate it!
Yeah that’s why I mentioned that I personally just found out about it. I saw that it had already been out. My thought was just in case people were like me, and finding out late as hell 😅
@@ImJecht I Like " the vault"!!! I have to admit this is new to me,because i play on Xbox One (Stock like everybody). But 4 my PI4 or any Android device is the vault the perfect EmulationSite!!! GreatThanks 4A GREAT ADVICE!!!!

Someone named “John Osborne” did an English patched version of the game; years and years and years ago! Nothing was changed besides the Japanese being converted to English! It’s actually more common than the original JP version interestingly 😅
Hi brother. Its Azforu 36 or 30 I cant remember what my name is on here, but it's really Anthony. I sent a message to you the other day about this and you kindly offered a tutorial video for downloading Mednefar I think it was called. I went to the site you offered but everytime I clicked link it came up malicious. Is that normal? Should I just bypass and download anyway? Super sorry to bother you with this to you anyways, simple and rudimentary emulator stuff but I'm clueless with this stuff. Thanks again though.
No worries! I tell ya what, give me some time (I’m not available atm to check), and I’ll check the link and make sure it’s cool. My browser always flags stuff when it’s emulators or ISO files and stuff. So I’m curious if that’s what is happening or if it’s actually an issue. I’ll 100% let you know
You're the man, thank you for this video! The game I'm playing kept freezing up at a certain part, turns out the disc is damaged beyond repair, so I figured I'd look into playing a copy. Followed along with your video, and, I'm now able to continue my game.
@@azforu29 if you are having a hard time, i made a video for setting it up: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nwamVIumKpk.htmlsi=jbHjcA6M64A1SLW5
@@ImJecht oh fuck your the man. Thank you. I went to the site last night and admittedly it's too much for me. Now I might have a chance. Again thank you
So I had the idea to do this with a double layer disc for God of War. I patched the ISO with Toxic DL then patched it with the ESR. After that I used ImgBurn to write the ISO to the disc (DVD+R DL) at 4x speed. It didn't work for me. I've got the 3.10 U ps2. I've got some of those Yuden DVD-Rs coming tomorrow and hope the regular ESR patch alone works for games that are under the 4.7gb limit.
so actually i found out that they have .iso's of the GOW games with the FMVs cut out and stuff, to make it burnable to a regular dvd5 disc! i couldnt believe it haha
i personally have no clue. but based on some factors, it may have something to do with: the ps2 isnt seeing the game as a ps2 disc, its being presented as a dvd. thats sort of the whole basis of why it works. youre basically tricking the ps2 into thinking youre playing a dvd. so from there, not sure haha

Hello everyone. If you are unable to view the compatibility list, I’ve made this video for you! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z_5EHqLAFsQ.htmlsi=tvOSQynHdvEqj0t6
Unfortunately not. I do have a pretty solid way of doing something similar, on FAT models as well. It’s a video I’ll def be making as soon as I have the time!
I tried to burn wipeout fusions EU but it’s just a black screen and I’m out of discs to try again. Is it just the patcher being glitchy or it’s just screwed up the burn?
@@evanknight8572 the reality is that it could be a few things. Bad PS2 laser, bad discs, bad burns. If you could specify the disc brand and the model # should be viewable on the ps2 powered on. I believe at the home page thing, you hit triangle and should show model
@@ImJecht Can someone make a spread sheet for the compatibility list I'm only getting 503 errors every time I try to look at it please and thank you to whoever takes their time to do it
So the 503 error seems like the site is banning people is there a way you could make a video showing the list that might also get you some more views I know I'll look at it just say like compatibility list march 25 2024 Cause I found out that ty the tasmanian tiger 2 and 3 do not work sadly
@@crazycross5501 sure I can do that. I’ll work on that today. I’m sorry that happened to you :( I’ll post it when done (alternatively I don’t mind making a comment with all the games listed as well)
I'm playing through this game for the first time and I got the out of bounds bug by accident in that area with the termites lol I ended up at a save point with a fortune teller and didn't know where I was at and was scared I sequence broke. Glad this channel was recommended to me!
That’s so cool. I actually never got the out of bounds naturally. That was would be so cool! I think you’re the first person I know who’s ever accidentally gotten it 😅 there’s alot of glitchy stuff in this game! And new discovered since this video came out. It’s a whole train wreck these days. But I do appreciate you saying you’re glad this channel was recommended. Thats a super nice gesture. It’s always cool to meet new fellow kings field fans. These games are just so cool
Really great vid. The only thing thoe is I’ve burned two games games silent hill 2 and revenge of the sith. For some reason the menu screens for both games show and then the games cut to black and I am unable to play them at all. I am using a slim ps2 and burning on DVD+R DL disk. I am not sure if that’s the problem or not?
i appreciate that! the art found in this, is what i ended up using in my name logo haha. the gargoyle is so cool. theres something inspirational about having the original north american game cover art, signed and all. I APPRECIATE THE KIND WORDS! YOURE GREAT
