Love love your blocks !!! Anything in order to use up your scrapes !!! Also, thank you for going slow and explaining everything !!!! Thank you for sharing and caring !!!👊🙌🏼👍🏿❌⭕️❤️🥰🙏🏻🙏🏻
I am doing well! I am frantically working on improving the website so my focus is on that. I plan to have everything ready by early July....As Martha Stewart says "It's a good thing!" Thanks for asking.
Look, I already have a problem with eating chocolates in bed! NOW YOU SAY MAKE A POTATO CHIP QUILT....probably just end up with a chocolate dipped potato chip block(s)....YOU ARE BEST WITH YOUR BLOCKS!!!!
Thanks so much for the tutorial. I've been wanting to make a potato chip quilt, but was wanting to do one a bit more controlled. The two blocks you've shown fit the bill perfectly! Again, thanks for the Calculators and tutorials.
Thanks Carol! I love that there are so many possible placements of colors & low volumes that give such different looks to this block. You mentioned that you sew the pieces into the twos & threes ahead -which made the light bulb turn on in my brain- they can be sewn as leader/enders! Thank you for your wonder videos.
Thanks Carol, this style of quilt is on my list of wants. I’ve never bought a jellyroll , but I still have plenty of scraps to use and fabrics had I really don’t have a project for. Again Carol hope all is going well and a special thanks for all you do. 👍❤️🙂
It’s called a sleeve press and was designed ages ago by the garment industry as a pressing aid for long sleeve seams. I’ve had one for over 50 years that I made by cutting a dowel in half. Nancy Zieman is the one who suggested this cost saving homemade version in one of her videos. It’s fun to see young people discover new uses for these tools! As a side note, the reason seams are pressed to one side in quilting is for durability and longevity. It weakens the seam to press it open because it makes it more vulnerable to the stresses caused by use. The true functional purpose of quilting the layers of a quilt is to strengthen the joined pieces of the quilt top by binding it to the added layers. Uniform stitching over the entire area of the quilt serves to better bear the stress on the seams during use. When seams pop, it’s always the ones that were pressed open during construction that will go first.
I HAVE TRIED MANY TIMES TO CLICK ON YOUR CALCULATERS AN MY ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM SAYS THERE IS A VIRUS AN STOPS ME FROM GETTING TO THAT SITE... I CLOSE THAT OFF MY COMPUTER AN HAVE TO RUN MY ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM AT LEAST 3 TIMES AN THEN RUN OTHER THINGS I HAVE ON MY COMPUTER TO KEEP THAT VIRUS FROM TAKING CONTROL OF MY COMPUTER.... I WONT BE TRYING AGAIN TO SEE WHAT THAT IS ALL ABOUT... I GUESS I WILL JUST HAVE TO WORK/STRUGGLE WITH WHAT I KNOW BEST AN THAT VERY LITTLE.... THANK YOU FOR ALL THE DOWNLOADS OF THE QUILT PATTERS; MY COMPUTER ALLOWED ME TO DO THAT BUT GOING ON THAT SITE IS NOT HAPPENING... I JUST LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AN ALL THE THINGS THAT YOU DO... THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE TAUGHT ME ABOUT QUILTING
Sorry you are having problems. The new calculators will open in a pop-up window. Your anti virus software may be preventing that. Look at the anti virus settings and find where it says "Allow Pop-ups". That might help.
The instructions are wonderfully, but there is a technical problem. I right-clicked on the calculator pop-up window after it had calculated, but there was not option to print. So, I went to the menu bar and clicked the File>Print...and it wanted to print 12 copies of the same page of calculations; the same thing happened when I did a Ctrl+P. I can choose to print only 1 copy by printing just the first page, but , FYI, maybe this shouldn't be happening???? I am using a Windows machine.
I am using a windows machine as well. I'm not sure why there isn't an option to print when you right click. I tried the Google Chrome browser and it works perfectly both the right click and it only wants to print one page. This is beyond my understanding but at least you were able to find a work around. Thanks for hanging in there.
@@CarolThelen I was using Firefox...so I just switched to Chrome: this time I did get the pop up window with the print...option, but it wants to print 9 sheets. At least I know what to look for and how to fix it in either browser. ANYWAY, THANK YOU AGAIN for the calculator!!
Hi Carol! Love this quilt! I actually cut and sewed these blocks, I will join my blocks tomorrow. Can you please tell me how you finished yours? I usually struggle with color and designs. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!
If you are asking about quilting, I usually find an allover design that is curvy or swirly or that matches the quilt theme. This log cabin was originally a Christmas quilt so I quilted holly leaves. For thread I use a coordinating color or verigated colors. Thanks for watching!
