I am an old Army guy, but this gave me goosebumps when I watched it. Holy smoke!! Props to my USAF brothers for that amazing demonstration of skill. Hoooraaah!!
Im a C17 Loadmaster, i was confused why they continued to reverse without the troop doors open or the cargo door and ramp. Because we litterally have no indication of whats behind us with the jet closed up
Just saw one of these. I cannot express how loud this is, except by comparing it to my next loudest experience, which is a shotgun blast, but constant, and makes your stomach turn over
Try to build a small hovercraft yourself from a cornflakes box and a old Pc fan and you will truly honor the raw power and amazingness of such machine! :D
A short landing in a c-17 is not that "awesome" when you're in it with your toddler who are flying for the first time and all of your luggage starts flying forward. Was not that great of an experience
Am I the only one who thinks the C17 looks like a whale? Just a couple weeks ago I saw one fly very low and slow right over my house. It was very close.
They can even pushback with just thrust reversers and i seen a video showing such pushback. The 3rd crew memeber (probably loadmaster) was sitting at the opened ramp and instructing the pilot where to turn. OFC airplane was loaded and fuelled for takeoff. Most turbofan airplanes cannot do such things, C17 is very unique. Most of turboprops can also pushback with reversers but its generally prohibited because its dangerous (problems with visibility).
I just love the comments comparing the LCAC with the Russian zubr. For one thing the LCACs can be carried (more than one) in a LHD, the zubr can't. That makes the zubr very, very inefficient or use less for long distant service. The zubr is armed and this is a use less idea. The Russian zubr is just a show case vehicle to give them, ours are bigger argument, it makes them a good target. They are totally different in their use and intent. We operate many, many LCAC's not just a very few. When was the last time the world ever saw the Russian zubr doing humanitarian work for any one, answer, never. I also love the comments from those that know nothing about LCAC or hovercraft and make a comment to prove it.
