More than you know. 😢 It’s actually been quite a few years since playing this game regularly, so it’s mostly just putting the challenge on myself in preparation for a NG+7 co-op playthrough.
Thank you everyone, I apologise for the extended absence. I have my reasons for this, and I more than likely will share these within an upcoming project I have in the works... So I've got two Dark Souls projects going at the moment, this is one of them which I'm actually posting on a message board to track my progress (with clips and screenshots), so I'll leave a link below for that. The other I'm still preparing for, which is going to be a full NG+7 co-op playthrough with my long-time partner in crime, ganking, trolling, co-op and just all around awesome friend who's always been there for me. You may know him as the friend of that player who likes being a dick, the friend of that player who doesn't know what overpowered means (these scrubs, right?), or even the friend who likes making things harder for that player because the basic challenges just aren't hard enough, the one and only Chelskiman. Once all the preparations have been made, we will be looking at fairly lengthy sessions so we can knock over huge chunks of this NG+7 run. We won't be "trying" to make it entertaining, it just will be entertaining. SL1 NG+ Message Board Tracking: www.neoseeker.com/forums/70225/t2427052-aura-dark-souls-remastered-playthrough-sl1-run/
Interesting to see what people thought was op way back in the day. I feel like the game used to be treated as insanely difficult. I mean anyone whos played the game should know you really dont need a fire infusion on the great scythe, just go get the large ember and upgrade like normal and you'll outscale well before you reach any difficult bosses. But hes so focused and acquiring as much early game strength as possible he minmaxes a fire infusion on the great scythe for slightly more early game damage.
For a lot of people, it was. Especially back in 2011 before a lot of balancing patches came into play. There’s no doubt that with a completed build, the standard upgrade path to +15 is best, but it isn’t the only way to play either. Elementals have their place in a number of scenarios. Scenarios such as SL1 playthroughs, VitGouge builds, restrictive level play, and a couple of others here and there. Elementals absolutely drop off in power scaling in the DLC, but they are still going to be your go to choice in SL1, low level and restricted level runs. Many would argue fire is useless against Quelaag, can’t disagree with that. Why would you need a fire weapon when a bow that hasn’t even been upgraded can handle her though? It’s possible to upgrade to the Chaos path after just one boss, without any kind of exploits, mods or otherwise, and comes with the added bonus of flexibility on stat investment when you’re not sure which direction you want to go with a build. That’s why this is less about acquiring as much early game strength as possible, and more about learning and understanding so you don’t need the most powerful weapons or the highest possible level you can reach to clear an area and a boss.
This is the exact video I used when I started my first playthrough, I was struggling with the game and looked up videos and this helped me a ton, getting this recommended now after all these years brings back good ( and bad ) memories... never go to the catacombs first...
GOddammit. I got a regular extra slab without trying , a blue slab from the butterfly first try somehow... three white ones in one playthrough... but I cant get a second red one to save my life. Why did they make the red ones so difficult lol. I did this for hours tonight while farming for demon titanite at the same time... got plenty of that now.. but not one slab . Just red chunks. Hell I couldnt even get a white one even though I dont need it. Just a red chunk... and only sometimes at that. sometimes I'd get nothing at all the whole run. It makes me want to punch my eyes.
Grab the rapier and the very large ember sneak around the back way for the basement key sunlight alter and large ember just 1 boss to beat 😂 +5 fire or +15
