Moe Norman Was My Friend. These videos chronicle my relationship with Moe. Moe would have been lost to history if I had not changed my career from physics to golf with my discovery of a Single-Axis right hand palm grip. In a chance meeting with Mark Evershed in 1990, he explained that Moe used a version of my Single-Axis grip. My first meeting with Moe was at Royal Oaks in December of 1992. These videos are a tribute to this unique individual. In spite of numerous obstacles, Moe achieved a ball striking ability that amazed everyone who ever saw him strike a golf ball.
Jack Kuykendall: In the lifeline of both hands. A complete system will be announced later this year with the aids that will acutally let you swing ON a single plane from address to ball impact. You will experience the "FEELING OF STRAIGHTNESS". The system virtually eliminates body rotation and produce extraordinary distance through the same principle that produces high clubhead speed with a traditional swing.
For years Moe had expressed his desire to just talk to golfers and pour out his knowledge. It was after a day of shooting his mechanics on the range at Pine Needles. At dinner that night, the beautiful fireplace was noticed and my marketing manager suggested using it for the chat. As the camera crew was already there, I was able to fulfil one of Moe’s dreams to leave his thought behind.
If you really care about your golf buddies you ought to share this video. Gary’s tips will immediately improve your score by 5-10 strokes! Or you could let them flounder. Hehe!
Moe became an even better ball striker in Dec 1992 after I explained the benefits of separated hands. He playied with separate hands from Dec1992 untl his death in 2004.
It’s like Moe tried to strike a ball and get it to go dead straight regardless of distance. As an experiment, Just to see it go dead straight. And realized if he ramps up his club head speed, he’s hitting it just as far as everyone else. Boom the greatest ball striker in history was born. Which is probably why he was laughing at everyone during his demos. Like why don’t these people understand what I’m doing here???
This is an observation I have made a long time ago. All tour player both knew and observed his simple mechanics and legendary accuracy. I don't know of even one who attempted to change.
@@scienceofgolf but that’s not how everyone else does it. Ps As I’m constantly abandoning the single plane swing during each round. 😂 we are simple beings aren’t we?
It was my promise to Moe to not let his actual mechanics be lost to history. RU-vid has numerous incorrect videos of Moe's mechanics. Golf Digest posted one of the worse this year.
Correctly interpretred science has a way of eludidating virtually everything in live. Golf may be the only sport where false information dominates reality!
@@scienceofgolf I had the exact same thought recently, in relation to sports. Almost as if something, has been trying to sabotage the golfing world. peace love light
The GOAT addressed the ball with his hands ahead of the back of the ball. So much so, that he had to be using a putter with 9-10 degrees loft. Do that with todays putters( 2-4 degree loft) and we would be driving the ball into the ground. Have to do some hosel bending to putt like the GOAT.
Amazing that there is a comment on this video. Less than 300 golfers have looked at any of the neuroscience on the site. All a scientist can do is provide the information. Those who study the information become better golfers.
These hints help to demistify Moe’s mechanics. Your erudite explanations are essential for understanding the “what and why” of Moe’s incredible abilities!
Moe developed his mechanics between the ages of 14 to 19. When he was 19, was when he had the feeling of greatness. He knew he could hit a golf a ball with any spin, height and distance 100% of the time. Moe was his own best friend on the course!
The grip was taken in the lifeline of Moe's right hand. This gave him a SINGLE-AXIS between his right forearm and the shaft. This made his right hand a hammer with a substantIally squarer clubface at ball impact. MOE NEVER SWUNG ON A SINGLE PLANE' HE HAD AND ANGLE BETWEEN HIS LEFT FOREARM AND THE SHAFT; IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ROTATE TWO-AXIS ON SINGLE-PLANE.
The point is that hitting straight shots, finding fairways and hitting greens is incredibly hard to do. Unless you use a simpler technique based in logic and science. Moe was the unconscious genius and Jack is the conscious teacher who made Moe’s genius understandable. Even Moe said that Jack was the only person who could explain to him how he could hit straight 100% of the time.
Moe knew how. He did not know why. What he called his "magic move" at the start of downstroke is not the mechanical motion that accounted for his accuracy and distance. Moe's mechanics from waist high in the downstroke to waist high in the follow through is what accounted for the accuracy and distance. I missed it 25 years. It was the Eureka (I have found it) moment that happend in January of this year.
It would have been a best seller. Traveling with Moe and doing clinics for three years at least allowed the "Fireside Chat"; all his knowledge was not lost.
It would be difficult to correct an incorrect first observation without admitting that your first observation was incorrect. I don't have a problem admitting that I was wrong when I say something that is proven to be incorrect.
I've been using a split grip and slightly longer clubs for 30 of my 50 years in golf. With a split grip, the left elbow bend happens naturally. Looking forward to seeing you define it more, as I have been following your discoveries for years.
I will not be posting any video showing the mechanics. No one has ever said to swing golf club in this fashion. Showing you a video would be guarantee of failure. Only with my six video analysis and lessons will I teach my discovery. That will guarantee success.
There are no emergenies in golf. Once you understand how easy golf can be, just take the 6 lesson series and will play the best golf of your life; pain free
Let me be the first to say Eureka! I have been working on my Moe Norman swing for years. Only after adhering to the corrections and scientific method taught by Jack have I realized how straight and long I can hit it. Plus it feels less strenuous on the body. I am getting used to the compliment “you are very consistent!” Thanks Jack and God bless Mr. Norman.
@@scienceofgolfReally interesting analysis as always, Jack. Been a fan of yours for years. Would you then advocate bending the left arm despite that not being a feature of Moe? (I'm aware that you're early ideas on NG coincided with, rather than replicated, Moe.) BTW, Steve Johnston has a swing named 'Eureka Swing'.
@@nealhazel3983 YES! bending the left arm adds clubhead speed and removes the torque on the shoulders, back, hips and knees. My system will DEFINITELY not be called the EUREKA swing. I am using the dictionary meaning of the word eureka to show a major breakthrough in golf mechanics.
Great analysis, Dr. Kuykendall. Been waiting for this video to come out after you gave that lesson to your female student. I just ordered three of your grips, as well. Look forward to using them.
Moe was too generous. When he went to Florida in the winter, other Canadian pros would ask Moe for money. He would through cash on the ground and say take what you need. There were around 20 of them. Gus Maue, Moe's best friend" would not give the list of names. They told Gus, Moe doesn't need money and NONE of them ever paid Moe back the money he loaned them.
Moe Norman has the enthusiasm that we all have for the game... He also has the mental side figured out - that was the real reason why he was the best ball striker ever. It takes a lot of mental fortitude to hit a golf ball and that's why it is so hard for most people.
Moe had a superior right hand grip that made it easier for him to square the clubface. by the time he was 19 years old, he had developed what the called his "Feeling of Greatness". Moe had such superior mechanics that conquering the fear mode was easy.
I do not want any golfer to try this without a demonstration. I will only demonstrate this on an individual basis through a FaceTime or a Zoom demonstration. A $30 donation initiates the scheduling of the demonstration. Click on the Donation URL to schedule a FaceTime/Zoom demonstration: www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=RZBYJJWCKS7NC
Sir Henry, 3 times Open Champion, knew his stuff. He had a great interest in teaching, unlike modern champions who rely on their personal gurus, he studied the swing in depth.
I've played with many fine players who utilised the bent lead arm. (Mind you, Harry Vardon wore a tweed wool jacket, hard to keep a straight left in this apparel.)
I’m a 3 handicap and was fighting a hook but still manage to average mid to high 70s. Saw Moe’s vid on the grip and shot 69 yesterday in a tournament and 71 today. Thanks so much not only for technical but most importantly the mental aspect of the game🙏
Moe's lifeline right hand grip is why he had a MAJOR mechanical advantage in squaring the clubface. If take the right hand grip out of the fingers and put in the lifeline, you will be more accurate.
Titelist should be damn proud of their decision to honour and compensate Moe $5000 a month for life .❤ They gave him the very thing that Moe spent his entire life searching for, love, comfort and recognition for just being himself.
Telling the truth about Moe and our relationship is my committment to him. It is very hard to get the truth out. The number of Moe scammers grows every day. One scammer even plagerized my Fireside Chat with Moe.
You were friends with Moe that is deeper than a mechanical relationship. I have meet several people who claim to know Moe and they all talk about the type of person he was first then golf always good things this speaks volumes of the man. PGA should apologize to Moe's family for what they did to him.
As a high IQ scientist teaching golf, when I make a new discovery, it is my obligation to let it be known; even though it took 25 years of studying his mechanics to see the thing I missed.
Jack I am so inspired by your devotion to Moe and his swing legacy. Jack and Moe are each legends in their own right! The feeling of greatness is alive and well
Thank You. What a nice comment. Being friends with and experiencing golf greatness was an exciting time of life. Moe was one of the nicest and gentle man I had a life experience with!
