Did you say you're not a professional animator? This is def pro. You have these skills and you still need 2 day jobs? Is there really no money to be made with animation?
I’m confused are you saying that the arm in yellow is representing what it’s fully extend arm would look like cuz if so it’s not an arm problem it’s a pelvis leg problem looks like. 4-4.5 head long figure the proportions could be better for sure but the arms might actually be ok right now maybe tell them to focused on more of the torso anatomy been studying for 4.5 years now . Btw great content might start myself soon
There was only one that I feel you changed the look of the character a little too much. Overall this is cool how you just basically help fix proportions and body position while keeping their style
Y’all. She’s critiquing her own portfolio. Also, long arms are a problem as it might look off to the viewer. While yes, you can break the model in order to fit the aesthetic, some artists don’t want to do that.
Should add that this entirely depends on the context and style of your drawing. It’s not a bad rule for more exaggerated or non realistic styles, but when it comes to realism, it’s actually pretty uncommon to hit the entire value scale. In real life, seeing the darkest black and brightest white almost never happens. Understanding this can help so much with achieving a value scale in your drawing that is nuanced and controlled. But definitely a good approach to try the full scale generally and as you learn more, learn to taper it back.
