320 - 400 grit before painting, Use the heel if your hand to sand not fingers. Sand in long strokes diagonally criss-crossing as you go, not short circular patterns.

I'll bet you I'll be as thrilled as you'll be once you get this scoot together! Great job! I just brought home an ET2 50cc I owned 7 years ago. The "interim" owner took crap care of her, so I've rescued her and want to bring her back. Not sure if I'll do any of it, or if I'll just hand it over to my mechanic. Either way, I'll be tickled to have her back on the road this fall!
Thanks! It looks as though I'll be doing this on an ET2 50cc I should be picking up in a week or two. Lily (I named her after The Who song, "Pictures of..." when I owned her before, about 5 years ago) isn't running, so I'll be tasked with sorting THAT out! But she's worth it.

Speaking as a welder of 35yrs I congratulate you on a fine job there, I bet it was like welding tissue paper at times 😆 is your welder a gassed or gassles MIG set and what diameter wire did you use? Nice to see a British restoration for a change on RU-vid too. Good on ya...😊
Thanks for the encouragement. You're right, there was a lot of "burn through" while I was practising 🤣 My MIG set (very basic) can do gas and gasless, but I found the gasless easier; used 0.6mm flux core wire, I think. Got a real admiration now for those highly skilled trades like welding and spray painting. Going to have to spend more time on these skills for the next project.
They're the original case. I cleaned as best I could but then gave then a thin coat of high temperature engine paint. Not sure how tough it will be.... we shall see. looks good for now though 🤞

Kudos, Dave! I know myself well enough to know I couldn't for the life of me do what you're doing. I can watch you, I understand, and I find it satisfying and enjoyable. Yeah, it's not great but isn't as bad to the naked eye, esp with the horn cover on too. TBH I'd already done two rub-downs and started again but I think I was simply running out of talent/skill. I'm just not consistent with mixing, settings and gun control. Going to really work on this for my next project (Lambretta???). Once I'm more confident and competent, I'll probably mask, sand and recoat that front area.

I could come closer to doing a-a-a-l-l-l that bodywork and painting you did before I could EVER do the wiring! My hat's off to you, sir. If I were doing what you're doing, I'd have the vocabulary of a life-long sailor!
Man, kudos to you for doing all your own bodywork! You cut out panels, you learned to weld, you slapped on lots and lots of filler, and you sanded and sanded until the body was ready for primer and paint. I would've simply written someone else a sizeable check (cheque?) to do all that work. You ROCK! Okay...on to Part 4!
Love the progress! I am currently trying to “restore” a 79 p125x and its proving to be taking a long time! This is definitely giving me hope for my project. 😂😅
