@@alvinroberts7472 I’m not 100% sure but I think it would have to be their “neighbor hater” they have aggression meters on their website and also a couple sound clips from various types of cars
@EOESKOOLIE was it a cut spring because when I look out the oem ones on mine it shot out like a cannon and I had it apart like you did and push the control arm down and boom spring went flying lol
@@jameshuffstutler8298 no they were stock height, there’s a drop bracket on the axle side so that probably helped a little bit but the shock was disconnected and I was able to push the axle down most of the way
@@jameshuffstutler8298 ohhh haha yeah no the fronts were also stock and I just left them installed in the k member and took it a Out as one unit so I didn’t have to deal with the springs of death 😂
It does sound good however I think it would sound better yet with an H pipe being the firing order of the older engine and still being carbureted either way thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Appreciate it. It definetely has, and there’s still a long ways to go for sure. Next up coming videos I’ll be moving on to the interior and trying to clean up that mess but it’s all been fun. Thanks for following along🤙
Just an FYI, the Flaming River parts are nice, but they're proprietary. You have to use their inner and outer tie-rods. And they're more than twice the price versus a Ford rack. My son's car came with a FR manual rack and we just went through this. Just something to keep in mind. I'll be going factory Ford in the future so that we can get parts.
Looks like it been through it can’t wait to see how it looks finished good luck on your build been doing mine for 3 years now I have an 89 gt doing a cobra clone with cobra intake heads and cam and 98 5 lug still am ways to go before I finish
Shame the original roller block is long gone. I have no idea why anyone would replace that with a 289. My 85 block with B303 cam and twisted wedge heads ripped back in the day.
I almost bought that car a few years ago in PA. With the 4:10’s the car ripped and screamed! It had the 289 in it when I drove it. From my understanding, the car was raced hard back in the day.
@@travis3799 oh yeah it’s been driven hard and put away wet for sure. The 289 was long gone by the time I bought it. It came with a non roller 302 and I Put a different 302 in it and now it’s back rippin. I bought it with a 4.30 gear in it and it knocks the tires of pretty easily 1-2nd lol
@@maxstevens333 I think they aren’t too bad just sitting there idling, I love the chop, and even cruising they aren’t terrible. It’s when you lay into it and wind out the rpm that they can scream pretty loud. If you have a good set of tail pipes the drone isn’t bad, if you axle dump it you’ll hate it lol but that could also be said about any other dump setup unless the muffler is super quiet. But over all I love the sound
@@EOESKOOLIE Thanks for the info. Im tired of my flowmasters and been looking into these. I want something a little louder but not the drone necessarily lol
@maxstevens333 they will probaky drone a little more than the flow masters but they sounds badass lol the Dynomax bullets are a nice muffler too with little drone and they pack a mean punch. Two of my buddies have them on a 347 and 306 sbf and they sound sweet. But tailpipes make the big difference when it comes to drone in my opinion
@@EOESKOOLIE I thought there motto was all tone no drone 😅 jk. Good to know they will drone too. Ill have to decide if I wanna deal with it over a good sounding exhaust 🤷🏼. Love the car btw its hella clean.
@@maxstevens333 I think the definition of hotrodding is giving up comfort for “cool”😂 but thank you! Needs a lot of love but slowing pecking away at it
I had an 85 GT that I bought in 86. I had it converted to a Saleen by Saleen when they were still located in SoCal. Loved that car. If you can get your hands on a real Hurst short shifter, it will really enhance the driving pleasure (assuming you have a 5-speed manual, if it's an automatic there is no chance we can be friends). 😉
@@michaelbradley7529 gotta love it! I have a hurst shifter on it now but it’s not much of a short throw, it came on the tranny I bought and put in the car. The B&M short throw in my Jeep is waaay more crisp and notchy than the fox so it’s funny that it shifts more like a Mustang should than my Mustang 😂
@@EOESKOOLIE Saleen had partnered with Hurst and spec'd a short throw shifter just for their mustang conversions. So. it may not have been available to the general public. Before my 85 was converted it had the stock shifter which was a sloppy spongy shifter at best. After Saleen installed the short shifter, it was night and day better. Much shorter and no side to side play while in gear. Maybe keep your eyes out for a wrecked mid 80's Saleen mustang to snag a shifter from. Something else you might check is the nylon cup that the shifter drops into (in the transmission), it's only 4 bolts to remove and inspect. If that nylon cup is damaged, warn, or broken, that can lead to excessive slop in the shifter. Good luck on the build and change and check the oil regularly. 👍
@@michaelbradley7529 the hurst shifter is definitely tight with out any slop, much better than stock, it’s still crisp and true, had a pro 5.0 shifter on it before and I like the hurst better for sure. Would have loved to see that Saleen conversion, for sure a dream car of mine
Poor Fox body. The thing is tough, it’s saveable but you gotta give it the time it deserves. T-Top 85 is desirable , just not like that. Soooo many parts out there to return it to stock. It’s your car to enjoy it the way you want
