I wish I had been born before the year 1969, and also I wish I was older than 55 and also I wish i had been alive when classic Dr Who started on bbc1 in black and white with William Hartnell and ran for 26 golden years before it was axed .
the year this album came out is the year I was born, and how in billions of ways I really and honestly wish I could have been born 9,10, 11, 12 or even longer ago than the year 1969.
I remember well...Rebels of Liang Shan Po...me and my buddy, both 14 yrs old, Bruce Lee and Martial Arts freaks in 1980 loved this TV Show... Same time all Bruce Lee Movies were new released in local theatres...long time ago...
This was one of the songs my mum wanted playing at her funeral (she past last week and I’ve not been able to bring myself to look up the song) because she thought it was a heartwarming funny song but because of my dark sense of humour all I can think is it sounds like something a stalker would sing 😅
What a great find, this is the version I first heard in the sixties I think it was. I hate the sanitised Cilla Black version which substituted 'you'll get a belt from your dad' with 'you'll get told off by your dad'. No, I'm not condoning child beating, but the gritty original version was evocative of a mothers love in extremely difficult times, told with comic overtones. I think the Spinners had their own tv show back then, I remember them singing a great version of the 12 days of Christmas.
Ace song, true Liverpool love it😂lm a Manchester man, but my love is always there for Liverpool, due to my younger years n merchant navy engineer, so Liverpool City always for me
Hughie lived in his parents' house, just opposite my parents house in Childwall: the group used to practise there. This is a superb rendition of a rousing Scouse song.
I stumbled across The Spinners when I picked up a two-record vinyl of theirs in a charity shop. I still listen to it often, and this is one of my favourite tracks of theirs. It’s a lot more subdued than other versions, which I like.
Reading a book called Outlaws by a Spanish Catalan authorJavier Cercas Its v.v. good and The Water Margin is mentioned throughout. Immediately brought back memories of this series. I highly recommend.
I liked tattoo dragon, I was about 14 when I watched it, I always said I'd get a dragon tattoo, and did, be it a small one. It influenced me to take up martial arts and I still train a little today, aged 60,crazy.
I have always loved this song, cannot stop listening to it and singing it. I am a Scouser , but moved to Scotland about 27 years ago , and now, still, when i speak it is with a Scouse accent i know because when strangers hear me they comment on my liverpool accent , it's great once a Scouser always a Scouser. Actually it's true , I was born in Liverpool down by the docks ( in 1961 ) .
